As a bakewell person, and I know I speak for over 90% of bakewell people, WE hate the padlocks on the bridge. It's damaging the bridge and the banks of the river. People put the locks on then throw the keys into the river thus poisoning the fish. PLEASE PEOPLE STOP PUTTING LOCKS ON THE BRIDGE. Thank you
Thanks for another great video .I pass through bakewell on my way to chatsworth every Monday .bakewell is a very relaxing town to visit especially the wonderful gardens that you featured in the video cannot wait for another one of your videos another interesting place is just south of bakewell that is Belper with the old cotton mill of the English sewing cotton company.thanks again for your videos
Bakewell is indeed a beautiful place and your video demonstrates that perfectly. Ive requested this before and Im still hoping you could visit but I would really like to see a walking of video of Wantage in Oxfordshire and/or any of the very picturesque villages that surround it. Thankyou!
Love bakewell often go there for a walk with the ddog on a sunday ..and fish and chips by the river if you can find a seat ! Then to the bakewell tart shop for a few goodies to have with a cuppa latz on .Theres some good dog friendly pubs too ! .
How was it the I visited Bakewell 3 or 4 times and never knew about the padlock bridge? Lovely picturesque town, with amazing shops to discover that unique gift in! Thanks :)
Last time I was in Bakewell there were like 6 padlocks on that bridge, I only live 20 mins away. I used to love the farmers markets sadly all gone now.
The pad lock bridge. Reminded me of a stop, here in America. Out west, desert. Not sure which state. But a trail has a stop and at the stop, people leave kettles.
Loved padlock bridge at the beginning and then the rest of the walk was wonderful and relaxing. Hope you enjoyed your tea and cake at Graze 🤣 so now you’re refreshed keep on walking 👍🚶🏻❤️
A very enjoyable video to watch of Bakewell I went to secondary school there / think the Bakewell pudding was originally made at the Rutland Arms by a chef who got the ingredients mixed up by mistake and it never got changed please could any one confirm that thankyou.
As a nomad and world traveler I feel very lucky to have lived in Derbyshire, just down the road from Bakewell at Darley Dale. About the closest I ever felt " at home "
Loved the tour, we have visited many times, only last week infact. Market day (Mondays) is particularly good. Had the pudding once, not my favourite, the tart I prefer. Coffee shop & breakfast, the Lime Lounge is our favourite.👍
Absolutely charming buildings, & would definitely dazzle if all shopkeepers had sessional flowers in hanging baskets & streets containers, even more trees just like many European towns, very important for the human spirit & biodiversity. 💚
Bit late to the party on this one big fan of Bakewell been a few times I noticed in the commentary your open to suggestions for other places to video you might want to check out my old home town of Nantwich in Cheshire bit of a mini version of Chester Thanks
Watch out for the bull in the field. I was going where recommended. few cows ,and a bull. The bull gave Me a terrible look, started coming towards me! Thankgod I got out Field, before it got me!
I’m hoping for a vacation the Peak District. I want to visit Bakewell, the big cavern and Chatsworth. I really appreciate you pointing out/reccos and naming some of the good places to eat, like Graze and the popular fish and chips place. I have two questions: 1) when did you film this? I noticed that the streets weren’t too crowded. 2) what is “market day?” What does it entail? Perhaps I should plan my trip to coincide with market day.
Heya! So I filmed this one midweek (like a Tuesday mid morning I think) which is why it's not real busy The markets take place on different days There is the Bakewell market on Mondays in the square where I showed as I walked around There's a farmers market which is across the river (near where I started the video) on the last Saturday of each month
If this is Bakewell, then there is nothing about the town I don't like. Hubby would enjoy the bakewell tarts & I would enjoy the tarts that look like Portuguese tarts. Enough pretty flowers to brighten one's day as the weather warms up. Fish & chip shop & pub, a stream to enjoy. Bliss.

@@GimbalWalkTV less tourists !! And I don’t think the shops are especially interesting. I do love the walks in the area though , and the town is purely for accommodation and restaurants. Each to their own of course, but I try to avoid the town and get out into the lovely countryside

We visit Buxton and Bakewell most Bank Holidays we were there last weekend, and had a great day out.

Really nice place... and except for Holland & Barrett/Cancer research, not a high street shop in sight, good to see small businesses thriving.

Kettles!!??
@@GimbalWalkTV I realized I left off " tea". Way out in the desert, tea kettles, all sorts. Some quite old

Bloomers near the austrian sausage importer is the orginal Bakewell Pudding Shop. The best in town a must visit!
