- Get Your Free DRUM! Mag Pack ► pro.drummagazine.com/free-dru... Roy Mayorga of Stone Sour talks about getting a good drum sound in the studio, and when to leave them alone versus when to use tone controls on the heads, tune them, and more. Check out part 1 at • Interview: Stone Sour ...
I honestly had now idea how much went into the miking of drums until I watched this. Good information to know.
That's just sick!
Very nice!
That Bonham style all over!
you know in that one movie wear they have some kinda security thing and every body has to take out there weapons and give them to a gaurd and there always that one guy with 30 things to take out thats who roy reminds me of
Question!..... Does Roy know how to tune his kit or did he allow the recording especialist (which I forgot his name...) just to do his thing since he "knew" what sound to go for?
Nope, its exactly his biggest issue…and he never spoke like in this video, roy? Please, anyone speaking like him in this video would get a drum stick in their rear, especially a-band member
fresh heads have a certain sound and feel that goes away pretty quickly if you play hard, and recording you want as good a sound as you can.
Fake @ss interview, Roy cant stand anyone talking this calm to begin with, he would be out of the room, looks like he is either pu55y whipped or desperate for money
hate overtone too......nice set layout!
What kind of tape it that? i couldnt understand him?
Four years later lol he said board tape, also called marking tape. Commonly found in most studios to write markings and notes on mixing boards, etc.
to get that sound (which they wanted) they needed that setup, sure you can get a good sound with less but it wouldn't be the sound they wanted
tim yeung?
The sound to me doesn't seem anything special though - it sounds like any other decently recorded drum kit. Of course, it may have given them more sound to work with and more options, but for the final sound on the album it just doesn't seem necessary.
But there's no need for options if you're looking and going for a decent, standard sound. They didn't need that many mics for the sound they clearly wanted (and got) for the album! I see your point though - it probably makes mixing easier as there's more to work with as you're not limiting yourself.
KEANU REEVES CLONE
No such thing, only more options. If you have the gear and the time, might as well give yourself the options!
who also looks like Keanu Reeves ! ahahaha
johnny depp?
Using that many mics is -in my opinion- a huge overkill.
Dude had stroke..
