    I have never publicly comment on a forum before but need to let you know how much your site has helped me. I have been active in sports all my life in some form or another. When I hit my 40's I kept trying to workout like I was in my early 20's and would feel so discouraged and beat myself up, recently to the point that I stopped. I found your site and it has given me back something that I really love and enjoy. Thank you for your commitment to the site, your tips and advice and giving me someone to workout with everyday! Speaking as a mom and wife trying to stay healthy and women who also would like to "recapture her tush from her 20's" you give me a reason to show up everyday. So for that I just want to say thanks for walking this virtual path with me. I hope to keep seeing more of your videos. Please know, they do have an impact on people, especially at this isolating time. Beth

      You are welcome, PJ. I know it seems so strange but I consider you a friend that I welcome into my home each day! It had been really lonely doing this before I found your site. I did sign up as a Patreon and look forward to having a new community to work out with. I just got out for summer break as I am a special education teacher so I'll have more time to commit to videos! I've told my sister and friends about the site so hopefully you'll have more members from Colorado logging in soon. Beth@@FitnesswithPJ

    This is why I am so grateful to have found you! I have never had a weight problem, have always been active and never tried a diet. Then as I was approaching 50, I didn’t gain weight but I very clearly was loosing muscle mass. I have been working out faithfully for the past 8 weeks (to your videos), currently doing the 21 day challenge and I feel fantastic. My scale has not budged a single ounce but I don’t care. I eat well and my bones and muscles need this. I am toning, slowly but it’s happening. This is maintainable. When I decided that my goal was feeling strong and everything else would be just and added benefit, I stopped caring that the scale wasn’t changing. Thank you for being so awesome!

    Your advice spoke to my heart. I am 49 and have been so obsessed about a certain number on the scale to get back to where I was in my 30s (forget the number in my 20s!)- 5 to 7 pounds less than I am now. My body doesn’t want to budge. Thank you for your common sense advice and encouragement. Feeling good, being strong, happy and active is where it’s at! I’m so glad I found your video. I used to be fit, 10 years ago I ran 5 miles a day… That’s when I was 36. Then, we went through multiple family tragedies, uprooted our life to move to a whole new state, and then Covid… It’s just been a roller coaster. And now, with being perimenopausal, my body has done a 180 and has freaked me out! Things hurt, motivation is just not there…things are *bigger* than they used to be, lol. I’ve done so many different systems and what it really just comes down to is exactly what you said in this video. I have noticed this time that removing the restriction had dropped my stress level about it and I actually WANT to do the right thing. I downloaded the free 25-day fitness program and I’m excited to start. Ok, thanks again and I’m going to go binge some videos!

    I appreciate this information. I have about 20-30 pounds I'd love to lose. I think losing the weight would help my knees hurt less (they bother me most in cold weather) and I have a TON of stairs at my house. I started another program with friends in May and they've had excellent results but I haven't been able to find the time or desire to put in as much effort as they have to actually lose the weight. I'm happy for them but it's been a frustrating journey to log and eat less (with minimal results) and still have energy to do anything after working all day - mostly sitting at a desk. I appreciate your knee friendly exercises also. I'm barely in my 40s but exercise is tough.

    Hi PJ thanks for saying this out loud. I am a fitness competitor too (53 years young) and I have been called out about whether I was healthy when I was stage weight on my channel and one lady said I looked better before! I have to say I don't think stage weight healthy in the long term but I am a healthy shape now! I am like you I believe in a diet and a lifestyle that is sustainable in the long term, but unfortunately the diet industry doesn't promote that 80/20 rule you talked about as they can't make a profit. I think your content is great - well done!

    Thank you for this much needed reminder. Well, I confess I am not over 40, actually I'm still in my 20s. I hope you don't mind, I just really like your videos and your approach.
    You see, for a long time I used to have a very healthy lifestyle, with balanced diet as a huge part of it... until suddenly it all fell apart. I developed depression, binge eating disorder and insulin resistance. My eating habits were gradually getting worse and worse and I felt like I could do nothing to stop it. Obviously I gained a lot of weight. So for years now I've wanted to lose it, and yet I never had enough motivation or self control to be on any diet. I just wanted to go back to my previous healthy habits and didn't quite know how to do it. I even consulted a nutritionist and the meal plan she gave me was way too restrictive for my current state of mind and body. So for a long time I've been doing nothing to improve my diet, instead learning to accept the defeat, learning not to care. But your video actually gave me new motivation to at least try, even if just a little - just to start somewhere and stop feeling like a complete failure.
    Wish me luck!

    • @FitnesswithPJ

      @M_JackOfAllTrades 4 роки тому

      @@FitnesswithPJ Thank you ❤️ Yes, that's the magic that happened to me in my teenage years so I know exactly what you're talking about.
      The problem is, I have no problem with moving my body, I've been doing it my whole life since I was like 6, I'm actually a martial artist and dancer but... Well, let's just say that even training for 1-2 hours 5 times a week does nothing for my weight if I eat so much 😭 Especially since my body is used to training a lot.
      I'll try though, baby steps.

    • @FitnesswithPJ
      @FitnesswithPJ  4 роки тому +1

      @@M_JackOfAllTrades Ok, then here's what I propose. Start with 3 days a week of eating healthy, smaller portion sizes, and hitting your eater targets. After a month add a day, go for a week or two and then add another day. See if that helps with cravings, as well as re-training the mind on portion size... and then eventually bodyweight. Deal?

    PJ I used to run half marathons and do regular HIIT so I was in good shape. Then a stressful job and 3 hours of commuting each day drained any energy I had and I became sedentary. I began making poor food choices and I gained over 30 pounds in 2 years. I suffered with chronic pain and was constantly exhausted. I was miserable and desperately needed guidance. Then I came across your channel and began the 25 in 25 challenge (I admit I do 5 workouts over 7 days so it's more 25 in 35 for me!). I pretty much do all the modified moves but I'm get through every workout and feel brilliant after each one. Four weeks in and I'm starting to look forward to working out every morning. I've never used weights before and was completely clueless but my confidence in my ability is growing and I plan to do the whole thing again once I'm done (but next time hopefully with less modifying!). These workouts are exactly what I needed; no frills, no BS, and brief enough to do consistently. Thanks to you PJ I'm starting to feel like myself again. You are an amazing support!

I've never been into counting calories and after having gestational diabetes through my pregnancies I have relied on the nutritionists advice of 'balance'. ;-) Indulge once in a while, don't make it a habit, and notice how you feel after what you eat. thank you!!! You spoke to me and I agree. Ive never been a diet person, just a eat reasonably person - what's the point if you can't enjoy some of the naughty in life!! I do feel so much better on the days I work out, knowing that I am getting more healthy and strong. My struggle is with the stubborn (over 50) fat that has attacked my tush and belly - greatly disliking how I look. I never had to worry about my weight or dieting but age and pregnancies have caught up with me. I should have been more proactive prior to menopause because I now feel like I'm trying to catch up, climbing this never ending mountain. For me its not about losing 30 pounds but about liking what I see in the mirror. Im so happy that I found your videos and joined the 21 day! Day 7 down - 14 to go! Ill be joining Patreon soon!

    • @FitnesswithPJ

      Here's what I ate today: greek yogurt with berries & mixed nuts, almond & PB for a snack, green salad with avocado and grilled chicken for lunch and I will have a hamburger and fries for dinner. Tmrw will be about the same during the day and for dinner we will probably order in pasta, pizza or Chinese Food. I eat when I'm hungry, stop when I am almost full and I don't really snack at night. Hope that helps you Patty!!

    I absolutely am going to try this! When I decided to get more serious about getting in shape when all the covid restrictions started I quickly became obsessed with logging everything I did with my fitness tracker. I gave myself a 15 lb weight loss goal and I only have 7 left to go. I realized throughout this process though that I was spending way too much time thinking about “Can I have this and still stay within my calorie intake for the day?”. With teenage kids I felt like I was setting a bad example for them so I stopped tracking my food and just started making better choices. I’ve stopped tracking about a week ago and have maintained my weight and you know what - I’m fine with it. I’m not giving up on my goal - just not all consumed by it. ...and just on a side note I made your chunky monkey protein shake LOVE IT!!!.

    Great advice! I've been doing this for several months. I really haven't lost much weight (I'm not a big girl to begin with) but I feel great! I do find that many of the so called bad foods aren't really appealing anymore. Mostly because eating clean and then eating not so clean really wreaks havoc on my tummy. I feel awful afterwards. I still do eat something if I'm really craving it and pay the price if it's really heavy in sugar or carbs. But mostly I eat really well. I will, however, never eat another slim jim again LOL. I had one the other day and I was doubled over for hours!

    been eating whole foods and drinking water. Workout 2-3x a week at moderate intensity and have even incorporated restricted eating times to stop snacking. Sadly it's still not the magic diet. Still too easy to over eat, doesn't. Stop my cravings and mostly just adds more work to my day having to prepare food this way.
    Been 160-165 for years. Anytime I struggle my way down to the 140s its through sheer starvation that obviously quickly results in regaining the weight.
    Losing weight is not easy and is u sustainable. I gave up a long ass time ago. I just try not to gain anymore. I eat 1500-1800 calories a day and that's apparently too much for a massage therapist/active mom.

    • @FitnesswithPJ
      @FitnesswithPJ  2 роки тому

      Hey Yaz, it sounds to me like you aren't getting enough protein or food that fills you up if you still find yourself snacking. If you're restricting foods then you are more likely to overeat or snack...so keep that in mind. I'm not one for restrictive diets at all as like you, I find that they do not work for people and hell, who wants to spend their whole lives dieting? Not me!
      I do have a 6-week program that many women have found success with if you want to check it out and see if it would be right for you. Because, we can feel good about ourselves without so many restrictions and rules and all the other bullshit that goes along with dieting.
      This plan is all about balance.
      It’s about giving you the workouts you need to get fitter and stronger - without killing you.
      It’s about giving you the recipes and meal ideas to nourish your body - without calorie counting, or worse starving yourself.
      Quite simply it’s the perfect plan for the woman who wants to feel good, while also enjoying a glass of wine and plate of pasta.
      If that sounds good to you, you can find it on my website!
