If your canal is home to a lot of small pike consider trying the fox rage mini craw or a fox rage pro grub around 10cm.. look for silver and natural colours and keep the retrieve nice and slow. I find them to be one of the simplest, easiest and cheapest soft plastics if you're having a slow session.
Better try with the lure rod! Lures are great, but you need to try different colours, speeds, pauses, and places. With the feeder, have it running on the mainline, then put a couple of float stops on the mainline, make a loop knot at the end, attach hooklink. Them size 16 hooks you got the other day are good. If you look up 'twisted boom' feeders rigs, there are 1000's, I like them personally. You do what is simplest, though.
I fishied this canal yesterday lure fishing caught plent of perch. Never fishied there untill yesterday my self that basin were you lose your lure is full of snags really bad . The scofold staging just before it where you said your gonna dead bait has plenty of perch in it from what i found out yesyerday. If you walk up past were you was literal 2/3mins the canal goes narrow and the path has split in half !!! We have a lot of action in that narrow section we had bite after bite but then the boats killed it for us. Are you onn facebook mate ?
@@rhysjones407 oh no way, I’ve been to the basin again today and lost a rig on my pole, the snags are terrible! I will try lure fishing for perch under the scaffold bit, it looks like a spot they might be… I have been down that way before and it does go very narrow, never fished it tho, and god knows how the path has split like that 😂

I'm gonna keep asking until you finally do me a dropshot video. All you need is a light spinning rod and reel, some dropshot hooks and weights. Finally some juicy worms 🪱 There is good UA-cam shorts on tieing dropshot hooks on your line and the weights have clips in them to unjust your depth.
If you get snagged hard try a tight line and pinging the line with your hand. It often works! Also, try pulling at different angles
Those soft plastics look pretty good. A classic colour pairing!
If you’re serious about catching more fish, drop the jig heads and the multiplier reel. Use small spinners and a spinning reel instead. 👍🏻
@@expatalan6511 nice tip, thanks
Looking forward to you catching one soon 👍
Use a twizle boom for your maggot feeder there's a video on our channel how to do it.. tight lines
It's stops your rig from tangling
