When you're casting or flicking your line back keep your wrist straight allowing your line to straighten out before coming forwards this will increase your distance. Also the day before you go hang your fly line out straight in the garden under it's own weight thus stopping it being curly when it comes of the spool.
Hi mate to give u some advice as a young scottish fly angler with a fair amount of experience, i would order some traditional flies like the bibio, kate mclaren, silver butcher which will all catch the different types of trout. And u also need to slow down your casting. Hope this helps 👍
Also when u cast dont let go of your fly line so late. Think of it like a clock, when u send ur line out you want to let go at 2 oclock i hope that makes sense.
I think you’ll have to wait till next trout season if you want to fish in rivers because wild brown trout are out of season but I suppose you could fish for grayling. Good luck 🤞
get urself a wrist sweat band lad and tuck the butt of the rod into it, itll help keep the rod straight on your backcast, get that clockface in your head and keep ur casting at 10 and 2,
You had a go. Nice morning at the trout lakes. Keep changing it up, and I'm sure you'll crack it!
