    This TV is what i call a next generation TV. Against my A90J, the S95B is just miles better in HDR. The ABL is almost non-existent in comparisation to my A90J and the colors are incredible. When the 77" releases next year, this will be an instant buy.
    My Settings for HDR PS5 / XSX:
    Brightness 50
    Contrast 48
    Sharpness 0
    Color 36
    Color Space at AUTO
    Contrast Enhancer OFF
    Gamma -2
    Shadow detail +2
    Peak Brightness High
    Also VERY important. In game mode settings go to HDR tone mapping. Set this to Advanced and enable Game HDR. This will make all the games look much better.

      When watching Disney+ or Netflix (both use Dolby vision), do you feel you’re missing out because S95b doesn’t support Dolby vision?

    • @hattorihanzo1329
      @hattorihanzo1329 2 роки тому +15

      @@triglab9685 The HDR of the S95B is phenomenal, especially with PS5 and XSX it just looks better, but i have to give the edge to the A90J when it comes to movies with DV in netflix and disney+. When you watch movies in DV there is more pop and the picture is more balanced. Dolby Vision for movies is just a step up from HDR in movies. So the S95B is mostly being used for gaming. I watch movies on the A90J.

    Thank you for sharing your fantastic review on the Samsung S95B. Decided to wait, finally upgrade my old 2004 Toshiba Regza (120Hz refresh rate) LCD "42. It was the best LCD back when LCD TVs were coming of age. Abet, very still heavy ( 66.2 lbs. with stand). Finally ordered the "55 Samsung S95B. It had the best "overall" OLED TV rating in state of the art quality & performance, after searching extensively on the internet for best rated OLED TVs in 2022. Looking forward to this fine upgrade. Timing couldn't be more perfect. Cheers. 💯

    I suffered through issues with a 65" Samsung Q9 that Samsung thankfully issued a refund only to have even worse issues with a 65" Q90 (DSE, and color). After 5 months of dealing with the extended warranty company (CPS) who passed the issue on to Samsung, I was lucky to have Samsung once again refund me for the purchase. After reviews such as your's Caleb, along with KG's comparison to the C2 and Stop the FOMO, I decided to give Samsung one more try and bought the S95B from Costco (which through in additional warranty coverage adding up to 5 years) and just WOW! The S95 65" picture is fantastic. Highly recommend this TV to anyone, and buy from Costco if you have a membership to get the extended warranty for the same price as most retail outlets sell it for. I need to get a new Blu-Ray player to enjoy 4K, but everything we have streamed has been such a joy to watch now.

      I am feeling the same way. My Samsung QLED TV panel is starting to go out. This is my third Samsung TV to fail in under five years. A 32", a 55" both just standard LED"S quit working and now my 65" QLED that's just outside the extended warranty the TV isn't even four years old and they would not do anything for me. I'm sorry but when I pay $1500.00 for a new TV I think a company should stand behind there product.
      The worst part of the experience was Samsung's customer service. I was told that sense I was a loyal customer they would offer me a deal better than I could get at any store to replace my TV. What a joke that was. I was offered the top QLED TV and a 5 year warranty at a great discount, but it wasn't. I could get the same TV from Best Buy cheaper and the warranty was even $100.00 less. Amazon, Crutchfield all had the TV at a lower price.
      So my TV is failing and I am already in a bad mood because of it and then Samsung Customer Service tries to rip me off on selling me a Over Priced TV and lying to me about what a great deal it is. So Samsung is dead to me and I started looking at LG's C2 and G2. Now I'm torn. Do I give Samsung another try?

      @@DonGlassjr what did you end up going with? I'm kind of in the same predicament. I bought a Samsung 2 years ago, as well as have a Samsung phone. I really thought highly of the brand and then my TV died just a couple weeks ago, it was stuck in a boot loop. Thankfully I still had another month of geek squad. So now I'm wondering if I try Samsung again for this new technology, or go with the C2 or G2 and have a little more peace of mind with LG.

I have a hard time not noticing the lack of shadow detail in some movies and shows on C1. Would I be wrong to think that the tech behind the qd oled would be much better at shadows? Is it noticeably better without putting the 2 types of TV tech side by side?

      Watching cable (SDR) is great with excellent upscaling. The issue with all TV's is low bitrate streaming content (as in low internet speed/bandwidth).

      I purchased the A80J at 77 about 2 months ago when the word on this TV was super expensive. Even with the hype, the 77 A80J is an amazing TV. I keep being impressed by it and could not be happier with my purchase. Enjoy the set, I've watched new movies and old TV/movies and all are impressive. Now I'm saving up for HT9A though I'm more curious of the sound bars with the up firing rears coming out for the A5000 and A7000. @digital Trends, you going to do a review of the updated sound bars?

      @@jamiedewberry6702 I picked up the A5000 (it's $200 off right now!) and it pairs nicely with the A80J. The fact that you can use it as a center speaker is sweet. The sound from just the sound bar was good enough for my needs. But I was at Best Buy yesterday and they had an open box SW3 subwoofer for $254 in excellent condition. It definitely turns up the bass even more! I plan to add the pair of rear speakers some time down the line.

    Another thing that would interest me is a video about how to set an older TV to look more like HDR. My main TV is still 1080p, and my secondary TV is 720p.
    It's not just about saving money. It's about extending the useful life of your TV to keep it out of the trash.

      We only buy new TV's for our main living room. Then we take that old tv and move it to the bedroom. Then we take that old tv and move it to the spare room. That tv gets given to the niece or nephew for their room. I agree about extending the life of TV's so we spend the money where it makes sense and keep extending the life of others.

    Great review as always - is anyone at Digital Trends going to talk about swapping the KEF Q750/Q950s for Polk R700s for the surround sound? How do the new speakers sound compared to the old?

    • @techsamurai11
      @techsamurai11 2 роки тому

      I noticed the same but they are not R700s - the R700s are behemoths. These are the R600s which have dual turbine cones and are a strange and unorthodox design. I don't believe I've seen a tower speaker with 2 midrange/bass woofers - it's quite possible one is dedicated to midrange and the other to bass but I figured if that were the case they'd have used a bass woofer from the R700.
      I'd love for Polk's sound engineers to come here and explain the differences and philosophy between the R600 and R700.

      @@pcfreakx Yeah, the 700s, 200s and 100s have received amazing reviews but there's only one review of the 600. The 700s are imposing speakers in terms of size - I suspect most folks would opt for the 600s more reasonable size but I do wonder how different the 700s sound compared to the 600. Pricewise, the 700 is probably the better value.
      The 700 shares a lot in common in terms of specs with my B&W 703s - Andrew Robinson recently reviewed the R700 and back in 2009 had reviewed by B&W 703s for Home Theater Review. I almost wonder if Polk used the 703 as a benchmark.

    In the end I bought this TV, because I have tried several last gen televisions and the result is undoubtedly this is an sleeper hit from Samsung. This QD-OLED is the most complete OLED RIGHT NOW with: All 4 HDMi 2.1 Full Bandwidth/VRR/PC mode with 144Hz Overclock/True RGB Colors/ High Volumen and Gamma colors/High peak brightness/HDR to the roof/accurate Film maker mode and many more... Im having such a hard time. Im going to be buying one of the 3 tv's consistently talked about in the comments. Either the LG C2, the Samsung S95B or the Sony A90J. The consensus (as well as my gut) tells me to go with the Samsung. My Signature Series LG G6 that I bought brand new in 2016 just stopped working in November of last year. No display. Powers on and off, but something musta burned up inside. So frustrating. On top of that, LG customer service is AWWWWWWFUL. Anyway, the issue I keep coming back to is that damn Magic Wand Remote with LG. That thing is a God send. If any of you own it, you know what im talking about. Its a mouse for your tv and makes everything way way faster. I cant imagine having a TV without it now. BUT, is that enough of a reason to invest in LG's inferior TV (again) knowing the problems Ive had. Or should i deal with a slower remote and pay the higher price for the Samsung?? The Sony television is my 3rd choice, but feel free to respond making a case for THAT unit too. Lookin forward to the comments. Thanks all!
