Here's an addendium to the collection: _YOUR BUSTER IS A SECONDARY WEAPON, NOT YOUR MAIN WEAPON._ For the love of god, do not pull what The Completionist did during his stint of completing BN1. It's there to supplement and support your damage output, it can do decent damage, but won't be able to do everything without it taking a lot longer than intended. Chips and combos with chips are your main damage output, which is why it's so important to make your folder flow well, like a deck in something like Yugioh or Magic the Gathering, you are looking to use as many of your chips as possible in a turn, because it "cycles" into your other chips in the folder.

Tip for BN5: When using chaos unison in single player, you can pause the game to look at the aua around Megaman. If it's purple, let go of the button and unpause. If it's green, keep holding it.

BN5 tip: during the midgame onwards, consider conserving MegaMan's turns in Liberation Missions to specifically go after Dark Holes or Darkloids that may be threatening your team.
Both Souls and Chaos Unisons give MegaMan enough firepower to punch through them with less of a risk of running out of time and having to try again with a different team member.

I think replaying these games now should be a real interesting experience since my strategy as a kid was pretty much "stack the deck with the strongest chips"
Although i think ill still follow my old strat of farming the chip machines early, cause they gave me some pretty strong chips in the early game and made the later grind for all chips a lot easier.

Some things I'd like to add:
The Mega Buster is your SIDE ARM, not your primary weapon. It's not like X's buster, Rock's buster or even Volnutt's buster; you're playing as Megaman.EXE and he has the worst buster of all the Megamen (Even Model F provides a better buster).
Make sure to optimize your chip folder so that you can constantly pick out 5 chips every turn. If you have one chip or one specific combo you want to get at above all else, then picking chips that are currently worthless will throw them away for the rest of the battle, but will get you to that game winning combo faster.
Don't use your buster until you get your first Style Change in 2 and 3. Custom Style just blows every other Style Change out of the water, so make sure you get that and stick to it.
Style Change elements are random, so don't plan around getting one. They're also largely unimportant so don't worry about getting a specific element in BN3, just take whatever element you're offered and get all the Navi Cust programs you want from it.
In BN1 you can save scum the chip trader, it wasn't until BN2 that it would start auto saving without telling you.
Wind chips can permanently blow away regenerating barriers like Bass' Life Aura.
Save scum like crazy. The game only tries to fight you back on it in Liberation Missions, otherwise take every advantage you can get.
Don't be afraid to look up compression codes and Lotto Numbers, most of these are locked to Japanese exclusive merch or given out in the most absurd manners that you're never going to figure out on your own.
Don't be afraid to look up anything, Battle Network had an awful translation and doesn't tell you how chips work, just think of it as if you're 16 or younger, we've had these games figured out longer than you've been alive.
There are no continues, death leads you straight back to the title screen so be sure to save often.
In BN6 the Command Line extends into the one panel wide off panel space you get, which is part of what makes Bug Stop so busted in that game.
Whenever it's available, a folder that doesn't run Area Grab * is a bad folder, and so are folders that don't have any Area Grabs. You're not being special or unique; you're getting your shit wrecked if you try to go without Area Grab, especially online.
Don't sleep on non damaging chips like the Timpani line or even the humble Rock Cube, they require more planning to use but will pay off greatly if you don't suck.
Being a good noodle and avoiding Dark Chips in 4 will let you get Full Synchro just by hitting the enemy without getting hit, so be sure to be a good noodle and don't use them.
You can pause buffer the Chaos Unison charge shot to ensure you never get the backfire in single player
BN1-3 were absolutely not balanced with multiplayer in mind, so don't even bother with online there
Don't be afraid to go online and ask for help with completing your library, surely someone out there will be willing to trade you the chip you need or just compare a completed library over to you.
Not all mega and giga chips are created equal, there will be times where you don't want to use any megas or gigas, either because the available ones all suck or they just don't mesh well with your folder.
Take time to experiment with chips and see what you like, chips barely explain themselves so it's your problem to learn how to learn their mechanics.
ALWAYS fire off Tomahawk Soul in BN5, it's busted as shit and is *the* solution to all of your problems, and be sure to use Tomahawk Chaos as an extra Tomahawk Soul turn.
If you get every HP Memory, Megaman will always have 1000 HP before customization, and since HP Memories always boost you up by 20 HP, you can use that to measure how many are left in the game to collect, unless you're using Dark Chips.
Chaud isn't kidding, once you use a Dark Chip (raw in the case of BN5) you can NEVER get the HP back, and as such will NEVER have 1000 HP at 100% completion, you can eventually become a good noodle by abstaining from Dark Chips for enough battles, but nothing will refund you the HP lost by using them.

  • @Flutterdark_
    @Flutterdark_ Рік тому +7

a general tip i have for the series is to pick your folder code based on what chips you actually like using.
cause it really does not matter how well a folder flows if you hate the chips in the folder.
and for games that have them. always have an unlocker or 2 in stock so you dont need to backtrack for the locoked mystery data.

  • @Gnurklesquimp2
    @Gnurklesquimp2 Рік тому +3

I 100% agree and I don't feel good about my deck until it consists of 2 codes max (Besides maybe a program advance or two), but I have run into cases where I ran through ALL my chips, in those cases it would actually seem better to focus on the total dmg of your deck rather than how quickly you can dish it out.
However, then there's also utility. I couldn't possibly cover this, exploring all the different nuances is one of the best parts.

    • @GarlyleWilds

BN1 isn't so much 'hard' as it can be 'spiky' - for instance, there are spots you can get to early that will straight up have stronger viruses than your next main 'dungeon'. In addition, because HP fully refills between fights, incoming damage scales up pretty fast as enemies get stronger.
The difficulty is much smoother in later games.
