Marriage is the ultimate public demonstration of two people’s commitment to each other. Despite recent recognition around the world, marriage equality lags behind in Hong Kong. Gigi will talk about her experience with marriage and how individuals, and Hong Kong, can create a more inclusive and supportive environment for same sex couples - allowing the rite of passage. Gigi is an accomplished architect who was thrust into the spotlight
in 2012 when she turned down her father’s dowry offer of 500 million
HKD - later doubled to 1 billion - to any man who could walk her
down the aisle. The complication? She’s a lesbian already in a long-term relationship. Since then Gigi co-founded Hong Kong Marriage

I had the chance to meet Gigi in 2000 when she was in her 20's. Even back then, she was this very cultured young woman who treated the people around her with kindness and respect. And in all fairness, Mr. Cecil Chao is also very kind and a generous person. Thanks for the opportunity to have known and experienced myself the kindness of this family.

I have accepted LGBTQ 30 years ago when I was in Switzerland & everywhere I travelled to,even in Singapore.
Awesome speech & excellent English,sometimes I listen to your speeches & pronunciation to help me speak & write better English.
It also helps me prevent dementia,Alzheimer's & from becoming senile.
Have a sister who does research for viruses(including Aids) & another sister is a doctor.
Will still support LGBTQ cause for marriage equality as we're all human beings.👍👍👍Kudos!

Yeah, I came to see what's-up for a billion dollars. Not really. I heard about it when it was TMZ fare. I was kinda sad for her. My understanding was that her dad wanted her to marry a man. So, effectively, he cut her out of her inheritance. Then, set up a dowry with it so she'd have to be in a traditional marriage to be re-entitled. Awesome that she didn't give in to it. She could have married a dude, then carried on covertly. My kind of woman.
