As an Avid rhythm magazine reader. I have to Say that The Tuning, and General presentation of this sonor and other reviews don't do this and other drumkits Justice! Having played and tested this Kit it myself and seeing Steve Smiths Videos i think they give a truer Representation. Still it's good that you're doing such Reviews and i still love your magazine ;)
What a beautiful looking and sounding kit. Really nice fat sound on the toms and kick, snare has very nice tone with a sharp crack on the rim shots. Very nice drumming too< I might add.
Great sounding kit but I guess the thicker vintage hoops mean a deader cross-stick sound (@3:13). Probably why they are sold mainly as a shell pack without the snare. Thumbs up here. Definitely putting this on my wish list!!
I own 16 snares and this one is the best snare, by far, that I own. Tone is incredible, cross-stick is tonally phenomenal due to the stick saver hoops.
Does anybody else here not like the off center lug design of these drums? I love the red and blue tribal finish Prolite drums and when I get a job with a decent salary I might get a Sonor kit with one of those finishes, but I just don't dig the off center lug design. That said I like the sound and the marine pearl finish.
same guy did exactly the same thing with the Gretsch Broadkaster demo for Rhythm, too heavy handed,no appreciation of the instrument, just bashing it around.I saw the Steve Smith solo, and the drums can sound wonderful, maybe Rhythm magazine should consider getting different players to demo different styles on this kind of kit to better inform us all.
those drums sound pretty damn good. however... your one Tom is out of tune with the rest of the kit. the other problem is that you're using Evans heads!! OUCH!! I guarantee you put some REMO coated Emperors on there, and done REMO coated ambassadors on the bottom.... and they'll sound 10 times better!! also, both bass drum heads are too loose and sound a bit muddy. try tightening up the reso head, higher than the batter, and you'll nail it! then you'll be in the Bonham realm!! big, warm sounding... but more focused!!! and get those Evans heads of that set, before you curse it forever!!!
heads are already dented . he is playing into the drums he doest know how to pull the sound out of them. if you want to show how good they can sound let them breathe and yes tune them a bit , oh well
This is BY FAR my favorite sounding Sonor kit. Warm/fat/round full tone. I'd LOVE a kit. They are not brutally expensive either.

The words "loosen up" spring to mind
LOVE THOSE SONOR VINTAGE DRUMS!!!
fantastic demoshow !!!

I saw Tomas Haake from Meshuggah playing with less harshness this same exact Sonor Vintage Kit.
Damn dude, chill!
Really impressive. I almost can't tell where you sped it up!
??
I really dig these drums. I might be crazy....but Beech seems like it has Birch and Maple character all in one wood.

Interesting tom setup 13/14/16!
Very nice!
Man, I want to see somebody lay into these drums. Open them up!

you haters are just really dumb
Should have tuned it up. Same goes for the new RC video.
anyone notice the dollar store Rossanna beat at 3:36 lol.
When you like this you may like my Sonor Champiom Acrylic Solo as well @
:) :) :) very nice: look, drumming, Sound...........
Only that these sound far better than Slingerland or Ludwig vintage....

She's a beaut Clark,
Someone tune the rack tom for him 😢
8 lug bass drum is a problem.
0:27 WTF?? What grip is that? Use the bottom end of the stick when playing a rim click....ughh
I own the same kit but mine is tuned properLy and sounds much better than this.
Prefer Slingerland and Ludwig vintage.

eric Wilhelm
And don't use evans heads.
Ich Und Nicht Du and why not use evens, did they hurt you
Miles-From-Home
Evans sound plastic-y. If you want to present a Vintage drumset properly, then you should use Remo Fiberskins or Remo Renaissance.
REMOved lol
The 14 was awful
I have the same kit and it sounds better than this. Tune it properly.
