I finally took this same sized kit out for a test drive- very impressed. I have 3 other kits in my studio, all high end kits, not mentioning brands so I don't upset anyone.. but wow, great sustain, nice vibe, great quality, big tuning range for whatever music you play... excellent drums. You can definitely hear differences head to head.. and you get what you pay for.
Sonor drilled it out of the park with this kit! Grand slam!! I love every single detail about this kit. If I hadn’t already put in an order for a Noble & Cooley walnut kit, these would be the standard to beat. 🔥🔥🔥🥁🤘🏽
How do you like your N&C walnut kit ? Think) of ordering
Thank you for the review. Great sounding kit.
They sound like a vintage Rodgers 60s kit but with superior hardware and that gorgeous wrap. Amazing!
This channel consistently has some of the best recordings of drums on UA-cam! Well done! Very impressed with the sound of these Sonor Vintage series and you can bet I'll be watching the used market for a set. Just wondering if that 16" floor tom could have been pitched a bit lower? It sounded great, but the interval between it and the 13' rack tom seemed a bit too close in pitch for my preference.
The 16" floor tom is a perfect 4th below the 13" rack tom and it sounds ABSOLUTELY MELODIOUS in my humble opinion!
Love the sound of this kit, beautiful
Definitely has a vintage sound. Nice & boomy.
Great sounding Sonor Set with eyecatcher Finish. Great review !!!
Me too. Im a Zildjian fan, and have been the last 44 years.
Enjoyed the review. I love the vintage style wrap and the snare sound plus 22 by 14 is my fave bass drum size
but for the money I would go for the punchier sq1 .
I have once tested this configuration in side-by-side comparison with Pearl Session Studio Select Birch/Mahogany 24/13/16 set. While Pearl sounded great when I played it, from the listeners' perspective it was much quieter and rather pale sound-wise in comparison to Sonor Vintage, which had a very pronounced low/mid frequencies and a round, full, warm, thunderous sound. Pearl was less than half the price, but if I was to make a choice on that day, I would not hesitate. Sonor Vintage impressed me way more.
did they have the same drum heads?
Nils Drixler The set I tested had Remo Emperor Vintage Coated heads on top and stock heads on resonant side.
I could marry this kit. Seriously.
Dream kit right here for me.
sounds so sweet! I started to feel I want this kit💕💕
Always enjoy your reviews. Nice kit for sure. I’m a bit ‘ocd’ about the off-set lugs but that’s my issue. Nonetheless, great quality and sound.
That's a really nice kit.
👍
Very good review, thanks.
Very nice vintage sound indeed...but thank God for the well made, good sounding Asian made drums, which most can afford today..
If only I had money and room for another kit...
haven't seen many 18x14 sonor vintage series around. Anybody had any experiences with the 18x14 anything nice? I consider adding one to my Sonor, but a Gretsch Brooklyn just also seems tempting! :S
Yup, that’s definitely that Benny Greb floor tom sauce
Beautiful drum kit!
Can I thank the demonstrating drummer for playing a jazz Bd rock style of drumming, not just funk and linear fills which although are also enjoyable to hear funk still seems to be the only genre used for most such videos from others.
8 lugs on that 22 BD??? should have thrown in a few more lugs
Way overpriced. Yes, I do believe the drums would be great quality but for the price of the snare plus $200 or so, I could buy another one if my kits I bought brand new. That's a drumkit for collectors or people who have too much money.
For the price of the shells, I could buy my dream kit with my choice of cymbals with change.
I hope it sells well.
if you want to see overpriced look no further than A&F drum co.. they basically sell garbage cans for 8k a "kit"
For some, this is THEIR dream kit. lol it’s Sonor for one and a pro kit for two. Those two together always means $$$
every drum company has their high end expensive kits and cheaper kits these days. For Sonor the Force is their cheaper and the AQ1. It’s not more than a Tama Star, a Yamaha Hybrid Maple or a Mapex Versatus.
Now this is how you recreate a vintage kit. But with a somewhat modern sound and hardware that doesn’t crumble when you fart on it.
@@ramenthenoodle_exactly. So sick of people whining about pricing of beyond top tier kits. Stick with Pearl exports….
Maybe it was the tuning but I was not impressed at all with the sound.
The tuning on this kit is all wrong. These vintage series drums should be pitched up quite a bit more than this video’s example.
Why? 🤷♂️ i search for something like this and would tune it even lower with thicker singly ply heads. Too expensice though...
@@simonbarth3181 it’s up to the drummer. I was too harsh.
I liked the colour but that’s about it. The snare has some nasty overtones. The toms sound very hollow but I guess that’s a retro sound. The wrap seams jump out at you and they are way overpriced.
The only thing I don’t like is that shade of obnoxious blue.
