You posted a poll recently about things we wanted to see in watch reviews. THIS and stuff like this is what makes a channel stand out. You just added value and differentiated your channel from the others.
@@ILikeWatches2... just a thought Gary another interesting and different segment could be unusual and fun watches. Watches you don't necessarily get because of the specs or finishing but because they might be fun to own as part of a collection - the recent Proxima keyboard dial watch made me think of this.
I already know that Addiesdive makes well built watches. I compare it with my Orient all the time and it is just built better than the Mako II. My mako is currently on a replacement strap because the hollow end links failed after i brought my hand down too swiftly one night on top of my car. It fell onto the concrete and didn't have a good time at all. My Addiesdive is still solid, never fell off my wrist because it has solid endlinks. It hit the floor once and the sapphire just held up far better; not a scratch.
Japanese watches are not value prices any longer. Especially not Seiko. Orient is better when it comes to value but overrated. Citizen is the best but still not Chinese level.
@@ScoobieDoobie197474 I put it on a blue rubber Vortex strap. I paid $139 for the watch at the time, although for some reason it's selling for $164 on Amazon at the time of this comment, so I didn't feel right spending $60 on a bracelet for it. My Addiesdive Tuna homage cost me $67. I spent $5 extra and got a milled clasp. In addition, it has Sapphire glass and solid end-links. I think I got the upgrade I want already. My mistake was not buying the Bambino instead of the Mako II because I only have one dress or dressy watch.
Well done Addiesdive. I have a few of them and, apart from the silly name, love everything about their quartz offerings. I am not so fond of their automatic watches after buying a fantastically inaccurate auto but can recommend their quartz offerings to all. I was hoping that they would release a version of the Explorer with applied indices and quartz movement but eventually got tired of waiting and bought the one from Watch Dives.
My quartz version holds up well in the hot tub which can reach 105 F. Don't wear one out and about, however, as it's an awful name and even worse logo for a watch.
Thank you for testing several Addiesdive watches. It's comforting to know that these inexpensive watches should be able to handle recreational swimming or perhaps a dip in the hot tub. I have an Invicta Pro Diver (quartz) that let moisture in after wearing it in the shower (silly, I know). The culprit? Not Invicta, me. When I changed the battery, the back gasket didn't seat properly and let water in the watch. I should probably let the local jeweler replace my batteries just to be safe.
Yes, it would be cool but it would probably also be cost prohibitive to get the tools for that type of test. And realistically, how many of us are going to go deeper than 60 meters?
Yup. I have gotten Addiesdive, Seesterns and San Martins wet whilst paddle boarding with no issues...Tandorio skx if you can call it that and the Steeldive SD1970 failed...the Steeldive being the big surprise...until I found out there were no seals at all in that particular watch....😔
good job!. would't these sort of videos be popular on the main channel? i for one I'm very curious about how WR these watches are and i assume many other people are too since it's the one thing you can't test or see for yourself when buying the watch.
I had to remove a gasket in my Addiesdive Submariner, Quartz model with 200M Water Resistance. Removed the gasket in the crown, there’s a gasket in the crown tube, and I have it fully screwed down so it should be absolutely fine for showering, swimming ect.
I would have thought pressurising the tank after the watch is under water would be the best test as the pressure inside the watch will be lower than the water pressure making it easier for water to get in,
Be aware that while the waterproofing gaskets might be intact now, some might not be greased at all and dry out prematurely making them far less effective. I saw this in my Cronos when I opened to regulate.
Great news! I swam in my pool with my invicta 200m quartz diver and it failed!!! It was a chronograph diver so I suspect it was because of the pushers not being sealed rather than the crown or case back, but either way, was not expecting that. So far I haven't had any issue with any aliexpress watch that is rated 100 m swimming with them from addies to steeldive to pagani design. Personally would love to see a Herman II that is able to test 100-300 m that would be cool!
Invicta has a known issue with badly lubing their gaskets. Usually getting gaskets relubed will fix that issue. They're half-finished products, but if you finish them, they're pretty good for what they are.
@@harkonen1000000 thanks m8! I have a couple of pro diver autos and they are fine when I swim with them but definitely not going to swim with the others I have.
There is a version of the Addiesdive GADA watch labelled "Deep Sea Hunter". It would have been funny to see this particular watch fail! Jokes aside, the results bode well for Addiesive.
I swam with my $50 VH31 dune dial and it survived. Of course, I pulled it apart and greased the dry caseback and crown gaskets, and tested it to 25 bar without the movement and dial to be sure. Swimming is a non issue. It has a screw down system for both caseback and crown, unlike the Tag Monaco which has no pusher gaskets, a single gasket pushpull crown and a screwed-in caseback.
I have their GADA you tested, it only has a few threads to the screw-down crown and I was concerned. Glad to see it is holding up. 100M W.R. is sufficient. But my other AddiesDive is their 1000M diver "hockey puck". It appears to be able to achieve it. But I always had a nitpicking feeling whether these Chinese brands are honest about their W.R. ratings. I guess so for the top brands.
You think Addiesdive have a few threads on the crown, you should try some older Rolex datejust, your lucky if you get one and a bit turns. I have the AD Gada as well, plenty of turns on the thread on mine.
60m water resistance is adequate for swimming in shallow water. In order for a watch to be safe to use swimming 🏊 and snorkeling 🤿 a minimum water resistance of 100m is the industry standard 🤷🏼♂️
Yea, in most scenarios you can just put your watch in the house, or your car or something. Luckily for me, I make my own watches with nh35s so if the waterproofing fails, it's relatively cheap to replace the movement myself.
@@chair5728 unless you're wearing a Rolex or something, I'm sure wherever you put your phone while on vacation is good enough to put your watch as well.

Hear hear!
Agreed

FINALLY some one with a damn pressure tester to test these watches. God bless you!!!!!!
Thanks. Rare to see pressure testing on watches UA-cam channels.
I really appreciate you testing for water resistance. Nice work.
Thats great to see, glad to know Addiesdive isnt cutting corners and they look so good too
I agree…this test is useful I think
I love Steeldive and Addiesdive. Glad they don't suck.
I have brought the first tested watch for me and my father-in-law. Thanks to you, I have no concerns about to take it into water. Big thanks for that.
Would love to see Herman any time you review a dive watch.
Yep, a session on Herman and a wee spin on the timegrapher (multiple positions) will tell us all we need to know.
Good feedback !
Very nice. Good for Addiesdive! Thanks to you and Herman!
Thanks for testing these, it should reassure the many Addiesdive owners out there 👍
Pleased to hear they passed the pressure test. Thank you for making this video!
Cheers
Always a pleasure!
Really good and important to see tests like this. Thanks for going the extra mile to test and macro, etc these amazing bargain watches.
I appreciate these vids Gary. Thanks.

Long Island Watch makes an excellent bracelet for the Mako II

Very interesting - even though I have no particular interest in these three models it gives me more condidence if I see another model I do fancy❤
Nice video, thank you Gary.
I think quartz addiesdive watches are perfect for hydro-mods.
They look good 👍

Great to see someone testing these Ali “diver” watches…. Thank you.
Nice test. Very informative. Thank you Gary.
I love my Addiesdive!
Very informative, would love to see you test these watches at their rated water resistance with more powerful tools!
Yes, it would be cool but it would probably also be cost prohibitive to get the tools for that type of test. And realistically, how many of us are going to go deeper than 60 meters?
I looked into getting a more serious tester….they are VERY expensive….
Very professional test, maybe it is a good choice

Mostly better value

I did wonder about posting on my main channel but just felt it wasn’t a ‘big’ enough video….felt more like ILW2 content
Nice to know, thanks!
Love these videos. Hopefully you can uograde Herman and get one that goes to a proper 100m
My Addiesdive (quartz with YM bezel) arrived with a loose caseback so I would say check that first before getting it wet
That's brilliant addiesdive now change the logo and I'll start buying your watches 👊
Got two addiesdive and they blew me away.
I wore mine at the pool and the lake no problem.
Yup, not surprised having seen these up close.

I hope you test all of the budget watches from these micro Brands just like this
Addiesdive rocks

You are forcing air in this way instead of watcher…stops you from risking the watch.

I would've bought that GMT Addiesdive if it used an NH34. I just have 0 interest in quartz.

What about the Watchdives 50 fathom homage rated at 300m water resistant?

Mine AD2038 survived pool and sea swimming.
Swim and dive with mine all the time.
Greetings from Serbia. Some China made watches never disappoint. Now I can buy without hesitation.
They are generally very well made!
