Most new watch collectors or snobs about quartz. But after collecting for a while, you start to appreciate the benefits of quartz. Easy grab n go and a hell of a lot tougher than mechanical movements.
Couldn’t agree more. When I got into the hobby it was automatic mechanical or nothing for me. Now further down the line I have any number of quartz watches and now also 3 or 4 manual wind as well.
I started off just looking for a decent, inexpensive, analog watch to help with my terrible sense of time and went through a few before getting to the Timex Expedition. After that I started getting more into watches and got a Flightmaster fit occasional wear, then a Seiko Presage with the matcha green tea dial for special occasions. Then an Islander Mitchel replaced my Timex Explorer as my daily, and my springs-and-gears collection kept expanding from there. But I've since added a few more analog quartz in for the reliability, accuracy, grab-and-go ease of wear. Of course I also have nearly a dozen digital Casios, but that's besides the point.
Currently rocking an skx mod Casio a168 and absolutely loving it to death! And that's after 5 years as an auto only snob, this little digital dressed up is astonishingly good
You hit the nail on the head when you said ‘the pros outweigh the cons at this price’. This is what makes a great budget watch, not that it’s perfect (no watch is), but that the company producing it have chose the right areas to keep costs low. Thanks for sharing your thoughts Gary
A quartz GMT is ideal! Having to reset an automatic each time is made more difficult if it's a GMT. The small blue GMT hand isn't in your face, the dial markers are not too big, the bezel is simple and clean. I normally hate GMTs, and this is the first I like.
Agreed. I had not really thought of it until seeing this video and now, of course, I cannot unsee the version two text and wish it was on the one I own. :-( LOL
More exciting for me is that some of them, Watchdives for example, are setting up UK warehouses, meaning you can avoid duties etc and they arrive quicker.
Nicely done with one drawback that I have stopped doing and that is no more quartz movement as I do not care to change batteries every couple of years depending on how long of course the battery holds on working. Automatic only for me.. Thank you for your excellent channel and all of your quality reviews. Rick
Just subscribed I am waiting 2 months now for the Ad2059 to arrive, but nervous. Fixed all the issues the previous 2 versions had . Amazing stunning watch ⌚ very luxurious
Addiesdive is doing a few good things in their styles primarily ‘ again ‘ for those customers seeking an affordable good looking watch that do not mind replacing batteries but I do admit that I am one of those customers that already commented as it is said in the U K that battery replacement quartz battery replacement will not be my ‘ cup of tea ‘ Lol ..! Thank you for the 3 watch review and most importantly for your proactive great channel that reviews a broad number of watches. ‘ I like watches ‘ is an excellent channel that I enjoy listening to and watching. You offer a sound perspective of many watches that often I do find attractive, primarily as you already know the San Martin brand - automatic movement. I also like the Seestern - Sugess watches brand automatic models.. !
They make good watches that offer good value, they should not put diver's 200m if is not ISO certified. The watch is good enough, they should not lie about it.
That AD2063 looks great. Also on that 2063, no need to put GMT on the dial. If it has 4 hands, you already know it is a GMT. Just a small nitpick. That sand dial V2 is a good looker. Third one looks great. I don't do rubber or silicone so I'd have to get a different bracelet or strap for that which would add a bit, but the price is good.
I fully agree with Addiesdive being the new kings of affordability. Two points to add from my side: 1. Please print out reference numbers in the video and the description. 2. I think the mineral crystal on the AD2040 diver is an excellent choice. It has outstanding clarity matched only by top end sapphire crystals from the likes of Baltany on watches costing 4 times as much. Who cares about scratches on a sub 40 dollar watch? But clarity is something to enjoy each time the watch is on the wrist.
When you have an apparently slightly scuffed mineral glass and change it for sapphire you realise instantly what you've been missing. No watch should have mineral glass, if they need to save money acrylic is much better, it can be maintained or if too bad changed cheaply.
@@philspencelayh5464honestly I cannot even remember when I last had a “slightly scuffed” mineral glass. Or even felt the urge to replace it. But I do know how often I get annoyed by an overly reflective sapphire glass, especially in the sub $100 price range. Therefore clarity trumps scratch resistancy. Of course it is best to have both. But we’re talking about a sub $40 watch, so it’s not going to happen.
Thanks for the in depth reviews! I own the automatic sand dune version you profiled, and I'm quite happy with it. It's really an attractive watch, regardless of the low price. It's also one of their few non-homage watches. One slightly negative point that you didn't raise, however, is that the undersides of the lugs and bracelet have many sharp edges, and the etching on the case back is quite rough, especially initially. Personally, I don't find these sharp edges problematic because they don't really affect the wearing experience, you mostly notice this when handling the watch off wrist, but I think this could be a turnoff for some. I liked the look of that GMT watch also, and would consider purchasing it at a higher price if supplied with an NH34.
O wow, I'm excited about their GS homage. Hopefully they'll start using this case for other models as well. I already have three Addiesdive watches and indeed they are unbeatable for the price.
I've been impressed with Addies lately. I have one of their mechanical watches which is very reliable. I certainly don't mind quartz either. That GMT looks good. A GS homage, I think ?
I believe the AD2059 had existed for a while. I might be wrong, but i had this one already in my Ali wishlist. The 2030 is 36mm, which is a little small for my wrist.
Addiesdive is quickly positioning themselves to take on San Martin for the best micro brand award. Addiesdive has been hitting home runs with authority recently. Pagani Design had better wake up.
Their Seiko Willard homage (MY-H8) is unbeatable, and their automatic diver merging design cues from Omega and Rolex (AD2010) are both picks you can't go wrong with.
The main thing I'm hesitant on with a watch at this price point is the length of straps and bracelets. A fit has a huge impact especially with bracelets.
look closer, the case of the AD2063 is the same as the San Martin SN0129. The bracelet seems pretty similar tho. San Martin disapoint me on this and that let me thinking that their prices are overinflated
I ummed and ahhed for a while about buying the second one before I actually bought it. I wish I hadn’t dallied, it’s superb. I paid just over $80 which made it even sweeter.
What's the lume like? In my experience so far, the biggest differentiator is lume performance. At this price point I would rather pay double and get something that has a decent lasting lume. Also I much prefer the logo to the word. I don't know why they have done that.
I bought the address I’ve sub homage green bezel for a friend. I was blown away at how good it looked. So was he. He must have bought me twice the price in beers while hanging out after. Of course he doesn’t know the price. He was a Nixon watch guy and his Nixons hands fell off so I pick this up for him.
Ali brands starting their own website should have EU warehouse shipping. Otherwise no point buying directly from them compared to Ali that adds Vat and have more payment options.
First one - Agree not bad for the price but not the best (unsure how it breaks down to value for money) ... I know the San Martin is better value but curious how it compares to the Seestern version? Wish it was mecha quartz.
They always have been the budget king 👑 . Pagani have far more negative reviews than addiesdive. Off course they sell more and more models . I checked them all yesterday, only bad thing I read about addiesdive is the mechanisms not working . Not really a big deal they will send you partial refund for it . Happens to every brand .
Hi Gary I bought a titanium san Martin pt500 off eBay Its broke the movement needs replacing or servicing. Self Winding moves the movement and the hands are 15 mins off where they should be. Do you know anyone who would replace or fix it. I can’t find a watch repairer to do it locally.
I brought the last one for 15€. Wow, what a good quartz watch. I have it now with me to my trip to Greece. Till now it is waterproof 💦. No water in it. So a gooo to buy.
Yeah, not an Addiesdive fan if I'm honest. The quartz GMT I got didn't work, the hands jammed together stopping the watch. Too much hassle/cost to return.
Id not known that they had a UK store although Im not sure Id use it as the prices seem to be about 40 to 50% more than Ali Express, at least on the 4 watches I checked. Is it just greed that they think they can get away with ramped up prices?
Gary, after generally ignoring Steeldive watches for YEARS, I am confused by this love letter to their "lesser" brand. Yes, the Steeldive "Willard" is a done to death item - and I have a feeling they've sold a boatload of them because I see them in pawnshops now. (And if you're a watch fanatic, you really should be looking for watches in pawnshops.) But I still think the "value for money" is stronger with Steeldive, not Addiesdive. I have three Steeldives, none of them look like a Seiko. One is a Panerai clone, one is an Oris '65 diver and I happen to be wearing their Blancpain "FF" right now. I love it. Take a look at their catalogue. It's way more than Willard and Rolex "homages."
All look ok to me wouldn't make room for any of them in my collection but I do have one addiesdive in there the Willard good that they gone with own Site
Don't think we did not notice that you tried to hide that the Quartz GMT never hit the markers right. And that you kept moving the watch to hide that fact
The no logo one is the only watch with a textured dial I've thought looked good, couldn't look at their logo every day. Omega could maybe do a homage, beats any of their (textured) offerings hands down.
addiesdive needs a new logo..that sand dune watch looks wierd even with the printed logo..they need logo something like san martin, small and beautiful. May be used AD in some beautiful font as logo..
I have bought several times through Aliexpress, but you have to be careful. There is a lot of counterfeit merchandise. Addiesdive watches are brilliant value, but the branding is just awful
Cracking watches, terrible brand name. Has not stopped me from buying 5 of them though... (4 quartz are excellent, the 1 auto is so inaccurate it is useless unfortunately).
There's very little differences between them, they both have the miyota 2115 movement, 200m water resistance and stainless steel, only the styling of your chosen one is worth considering. I have the Addiesdive on their stainless steel bracelet and it's a FAR better option for around £16 less than the duro and the lume is VASTLY superior to the duro's.
@@nintendokings Sorry guys, can't beat the Duro, it stamped on it "Casio" and not addiesdive. That alone is a game changer. Who does not know Casio, even Bill Gates wore the Duro. Just change the strap. That's what I did and it looks fantastic.
Ali brands ripping off other Ali brands now. It's like Ali inception. I actually quite like some addiesdive watches. Unfortunately the logo is probably the worst of any brand on Ali so I'd never consider buying one which is a shame as the value proposition is incredible.
@@Ekstraordynaryjny you said it buddy and I 100% agree with you. Nothing beats a well known established brand. Who doesn't know Casio and their legendary reliability.
If u r going to hermanize them leave them alone and test as is, 'cos that's how they come. And why do these brands use Rolex style case backs which are a faff to open ?
Seiko are poor value lately. Look at the watch here seiko movements, even a sapphire crystal milled clasp, for little money.seiko treat customers like idiots I think.
Well I hope they invest in giving service. Because their service is as bad as the prices are low. But I guess that is the reason. My experience with their service was terrible. Not worth the low price. I disadvise this brand. I'd rather pay a little more and have good service. And I say this as an Addiesdive and a San Martin owner. Unless you do not care about warranty and service.
I've never had a Chinese watch last longer than 18 months. My Boderry Checkmate died yesterday, and my 1963 had to be repaired a year ago. They're crap, and we all know it. Chinese slave labor is cheap, but it comes with a cost, mostly to the soul...
@@fitoperezproductions Thank you for saying that. That's what I'm killing myself telling everybody exactly that in the comment. You can dress it pretty, well finished, great specs, it's still stamped on it a stupid snorkeling dorky logo on it with a name addiesdive.
I will never buy from Ali Express again. Bought a watch there, got a load of junk instead of the nice diver I had picked out. When I complained, all I got was a laughing Emoji!!! Never again!!
What can I say apart they look cheap, not nicely designed and they're called "addiesdive". The only thing going for them that they are affordable! Well after being an affordable watch collector under the 500$ mark, nothing beats a recognized well established brand name. Save yourself another 150$ and buy yourself a nice Seiko, Citizen, Orient or Casio. You'll be proud to wear a well known japanese brand than unknown chinese brand. Trust me on that, you'll thank me later.
Trust me when I say they are far from cheap feeling or looking. I have Seiko, Citizen and Casio as well as Chinese brands and Swiss in my collection. The bracelets and cases are really well finished, feel more substantial than my Seiko bracelets of which I replaced with uncle bracelets. All my Addiesdives are on the bracelets they come with. They have Seiko movements and in the GMT a Swiss Rhonda. I doubt you have held one in your hand for comparison? Have you?
@@a0r0a7 yes, I did hold one in my hand. I actually have one addiesdive in my collection the white sand dune dial and a Chinese Sapherro. You did not get my point. You can load up these Chinese San Martin, addiesdive, proxima, pagani design all the best finishing you want and all the goodies, they're still unknown brands and will never come close to a Seiko with a poor bracelet. I can walk down the street and ask 10 persons if they know Seiko, 9 out of 10 will answer yes. Do that with an addiesdive, you'll see the look on their faces! And please don't give me the, I don't care about what others think, unless you live on an abandoned island under a rock all by yourself. Imagine someone gives you a compliment on your great looking Chinese addiesdive watch and asks you: wow, what is that watch? You: Oh it's a Chinese addiesdive!!!! I hope you got my point and stop buying these price compelling, well finished, great finishing Chinese watches that has no history that no one knows about. I rest my case.
@@a0r0a7 Yes I have one buddy. I have the white dune sand version with the milled clasp. It's still a stupid Chinese watch that's trying to compete with the big boys. I don't wear this junk anymore. Stop fooling yourself like I used to, wanting specs for less money discarding the brand reputation and history and going the Chinese route. Who wants to wear a no name unknown brand with a snorkeling logo on the dial!! Not me anymore. I guess you until you snap out of it! I prefer a junk bracelet with hardlex crystal from Seiko to a Chinese addiesdive dive that has better specs. That's what we call brand reputation and history in making watches since 1881 and this has a hefty price tag on it, whether you want it or not. What name is this anyways" Addiesdive"!!!! I don't wear shame on my wrist anymore. If somebody asks me what watch you're wearing I'd answer a Seiko proudly. You on the other hand will go and bury your head somewhere in shame when you answer an addiesdive. And please don't tell me that you don't care what others think, because why did you comment back on what I think and want to prove your point on what you think if you didn't care what people think! Get it buddy!
Alright for you to comment negatively buddy. No one else allowed to have their say then? You clearly don't read either, I have 3 Seikos in my collection of many watches, love them. I don't just wear Chinese watches, read!
BLAST! After almost 50 years with quartz and never looking back at mechs until a year ago, you blasted youtubers keep irritating me with pointless niggles! WHAT do say about a REAL niggle, I have not seen from any of you: On too many analogue watches, especially quartz (cheap and expensive), but also mechs, it is nearly impossible to set the minute hand, to where it stays put on the spot, after you push the crown in! Set the time properly, push in the crown, let it tick a minute, and the minute hand is off! I have this problem on many calibres, be they Seiko, Miyota (which I HATE with their high failure rate!), Sellita, or whatever! The best ones I have in that regard are the TMI VK67 and NH35A, and surprisingly the dollar-bin parts PC32A, which proves it is not the more expensive stuff that is better!

What's happened to the wall clock? The minute is changing at 46 seconds. Come on, be honest, did you drop it.😅
even though it’s quartz, i dont mind it at all.. great for travelling without any worries…
I think you’d be mad to get the Addies dive watch over a Casio Duro for ~$50. If your wrist can handle the duro
I have the Duro and honestly, the strap is crap. Already replaced mine. The Addie's is a good buy for the money
Funny, I think the addisdive is objectively better in every possible way.
@@nintendokings Sorry guys, can't beat the Duro, it stamped on it "Casio" and not addiesdive. That alone is a game changer. Who does not know Casio, even Bill Gates wore the Duro. Just change the strap. That's what I did and it looks fantastic.
@@cougarbatterie sadly the Casio is not as great as you make out. It gets too much hype and this Addiesdive proves it again.
💯
Ali brands ripping off other Ali brands now. It's like Ali inception. I actually quite like some addiesdive watches. Unfortunately the logo is probably the worst of any brand on Ali so I'd never consider buying one which is a shame as the value proposition is incredible.
Nah. Casio is still the King of affordable.
@@Ekstraordynaryjny you said it buddy and I 100% agree with you. Nothing beats a well known established brand. Who doesn't know Casio and their legendary reliability.
Whats the point, to Dive on Adidas....
Couldnt find any Anonymous Name
If u r going to hermanize them leave them alone and test as is, 'cos that's how they come. And why do these brands use Rolex style case backs which are a faff to open ?
Seiko are poor value lately. Look at the watch here seiko movements, even a sapphire crystal milled clasp, for little money.seiko treat customers like idiots I think.
Stop telling me to look!
I feel so dirty watching this
Well I hope they invest in giving service.

I would never buy from alli express lol really
Lint attracting silicone watch straps are trendy...
And also horrible. Only FKM straps will do for me.
I can't get over the rubbish name and awful font. Why, why don't these companies consult marketing people not in China. 🤦🏻♂️
@@fitoperezproductions Thank you for saying that. That's what I'm killing myself telling everybody exactly that in the comment. You can dress it pretty, well finished, great specs, it's still stamped on it a stupid snorkeling dorky logo on it with a name addiesdive.
didnt you get busted for selling fakes?
I will never buy from Ali Express again. Bought a watch there, got a load of junk instead of the nice diver I had picked out. When I complained, all I got was a laughing Emoji!!! Never again!!
They may be 'nice' watches but the brand name is utter cringe.
I don't just wear Chinese watches, read!
ugly name, ugly logo. not buying anytime soon 😅
