I was diagnosed about 30 years ago, aged 38, & I recognise so much of this. It takes time, but it does get better Shonagh! About 20 years in, I self funded a Dexcom G4 CGM. Talk about a game changer. Suddenly I understood so much, especially my overnight values . Actually had some unbroken night's sleep! Doesn't sound much but I know both of you will know how amazing that is. I'm now lucky enough to be on a hybrid closed loop (Tandem T:Slim & Dexcom) which is another step forward. Not perfect, but has allowed me to reduce the old, constant, High Alert to something much more manageable. It feels like "someone" has my back.
My experience was almost identical , I was 59 and same thing GP sent me to hospital and it was horrid but I am glad I have access to medication that keeps me alive for my family.
Thanks for sharing your story, Shonagh. I was diagnosed with Type 1 in 2021 at age 52. I can relate to what you’re going through.
I was 2.5 and now 26 😊 it's coming more common 😊
