  • Teach a Box and 1 Zone Defense in Basketball, in this video I breakdown how I like to teach the Box and 1 zone defense. The Box and 1 Zone defense has gained some popularity over the last few years due to Nick Nurse and the Toronto Raptors. If your looking to implement the Box and 1 Defense I hope this video helps you teach it to your team.

I remember this happening against me once in my youth during AAU. Had no clue what was going on or how to beat it. Ended up losing that game. My pops let me know after the game what they had done, it was the first and last time I seen it during my “career”. nice to see it broken down and how it works

If the other teams use a box in 1 against you it’s really a compliment

Thank you so much! I’m teaching a couple youth kids a bunch of different looks on defense, including 3-2 and box and one. Appreciate the vid💪.

Nice vid coach. I just would like to know how and who would cover the offensive players who cut in the middle wherein we all know that box 1 defense loop hole is the middle part wherein are bigs are placed on the side of the defensive box.

Hi Coach, I am a young basketball coach located in New Zealand struggling to get parents of teenage kids to pay for my training sessions following covid. Before last year all was well. Can you offer any advice?

I lowered my price and on my website I call it COVID relief ... this way I look good while helping out everyone... this has also helped gain even more clients than I had before

Generally I’ve understood 1-2-2 as a zone variation where the 1 defender still basically guards the zone at the top, whereas box-1 that defender chases the offense’s best player.

Your videos are good. But you need videos with you actually doing what you say coaching whoever you say you coach. Videos actually seeing kids in motion is better then you drawing it up. Will expand your page

I may eventually put the players I train in my videos... However there are very strict photo release laws up here in Canada... plus I would have to limit my ad revenue as I would have to declare kids are in the videos, which would also remove the ability to have people comment... So for those 2 reasons I have not done this

I'm really trying to understand this, you still do this in 2022(nba)? Would this work against GSW? So many guys are great from 3 now if left open, usually the best player is good from 3 but a lot of teams have 1-2 other snipers from 3. This seems like it's a bad idea because both bigs can shoot now.
Thanks for the video, I'll be watching more!

It works if the three point shooting on the opposing team is average and you can live with them shooting threes. the Warriors in that series did have Klay and Steph but that really was it, everyone else wasn't really good. or if they were they were a defensive liability.
