That was great to see again, Sight and Sound did some good gigs in the 70s and Rock goes to College, but this Enz one is one of the most unforgettable memories of that series.
I came upon these lads by pure chance whilst they supported Budgie on tour{must have been around this time ) . I clearly remember crossing Maid Marrion Way in Nottingham with these strange looking fellows in tow .I had no idea who they were I was blown away by them when they performed their set . . I have followed their every move since . Fond memories .
@barbergreg Absolutely. I wish I could have seen them early. I was born in 74 and was into their music very young, (and Kate Bush) but obviously too young to ever have seen them in concert in their great early phase.
Thanx SO much for sharing this, Jenny! I was lucky enough to have a funky mum who took my older brother & I to see The Enz at the Christchurch Town Hall in Godzone for the 'Second Thoughts' concert when I was but a lad of 12. To say it was a MASSIVE formative hexperience upon me would be an understatement! And Noel's spoon solo was the definite highlight (for me, at least). In a perfect (& non-colonially-biased & American-rock-worshipping) world, these chaps would be as revered as The Beatles (or at the very least. The Cure! LoL), no argument (though I'm sure there are some know-nothing noddies who'll try, so consider that a DOUBLE-dare - Lmao!).
great song , one of the most underrated bands of all time .
One of my most Favourite songs ever. Was still at school when i first heard it. Still sounds great now

Saw the chaps play live at Manchester Polytechnic in 1977. I loved it.

One of my favourites too.
Like villains from a Batman movie. Bloody fantastic!
LoL! I agree, but they're SLIGHTLY more musical! :-)
I remember watching this on TV in the 70s. They were an anarchic breath of fresh air. Superb.
Gotta love a good Spoon solo :-)

Nice to see the very young Neil Finn -- who was to launch Crowded House (and of course bro of the lead singer here).

In fact, I've always thought of The Enz as BOTH 'the Antipodean Beatles' AND the Enzed version of Monty Python rolled into one. Awesome!!!
@barbergreg Totaly agree. this is my favourite
Villains from a Batman movie that was never made. Exceptional.
Wonderful! Where did this video come from? It's such good quality. Love these guys.
Musically, living around 1977 it was like somebody had opened Pandora's Box. Til some b*stard slammed it shut and threw away the key.
