- Throughout the 90’s sounds of German/Euro/Dance/Pop Music Project, Real McCoy, filled clubs and airwaves across Europe, Canada, the U.S. and Japan with Top-10 hits, “Another Night”, “Automatic Lover”, “Run Away”, “One More Time,” “Love & Devotion”, and more! Real McCoy’s ongoing popularity had founding members Olaf Jeglitza (O-Jay) and Karin Kasar reunite in 2006. They’re still performing on world stages to thousands of raving fans today. But what you may not know is that Karen Kasar was just 18 years old when she entered the music business in Germany and sang lead vocals on the groups biggest tracks. She was paid a total of $2,000, then hidden away while American singers Patricia (Patzy) Peterson, Vanesa Mason and Lisa Cork mouthed her lyrics and music. Now she’s front and centre. Janette caught-up with the pair in Vaughan, Ontario where they headlined Burgerfest to talk to them candidly about how those days impacted them, how they found each other (considering Olaf resides in Cuba while Karin remains in Germany and pursed a career in the financial industry), and where they are going.

4:08 As a 13 year old boy, I first discovered "Another Night" on the radio and even though I had by that time been exposed to Captain Hollywood, Haddaway, Culture Beat, Snap!, etc... this particular song nailed it out of the ballpark. Everything RIGHT came together from the production style, the lyrics, the deep male rap, the strong female vocal---it just came together perfectly and at the perfect time (1994 in Chicago). Everyone loved that song. Then a special version of "Run Away" was released on the radio in October of that same year and again, I had not heard ANYTHING like that before. The sound, the vibe was so surreal and from the point forward, the group literally blew up by the end of 1994 and people wanted MORE! Listening to Real McCoy songs over the radio during that time was pure magic. Nothing else was like it.

Karin should've been presented as the real singer from the beginning. To intentionally mislead the audience is immoral. I highly doubt that most, if not all of the people who enjoyed Real McCoy's music, would have not bought their music/concert tickets if they did so.

It's so good after all these years to finally put a face to that magical voice. Turns out she was a hottie all this time. I think my 10-year old mind would have been blown if I knew what the real singer looked like.

Real McCoy had a few different female vocalists over the years, so maybe you're thinking of someone else. One of the former singers, Lisa Cork, is African-American. Two other former singers, Patricia Petersen (Patsy) and Vanessa Mason are dark skinned. I don't know their ethnicities, but they look they they're either black or mixed.
That's a pretty dark tan if Karen really is white.

It was pretty common in Eurodance Music to use a "front Girl" for the stage that was lipsyncing to a Ghostsingers vocals if the Studio singer was not appealing in the eyes of the record company.

What is Karin k's real ethnicity she's not german. So what lip syncing happens all the time, karin didn't have look or acceptance, some artists accept these terms and getPAID. This group was accepted cause PATRICIA PATSY PETERSON NOT cause of, Karin kas at least in America, her soft look and strong face.
