That snubber scene was blood pressure raising indeed! We were going to say we have loved having headsets because it just makes communication feel much more calm and collected, so we are so glad to hear you went ahead and ordered some! Really stellar video! Loved the zipper ASMR 😂❤
We'd talked about getting them before... and then realised why we should've done more than just talk about it 😅 Maybe we need to make a boat ASMR video 😂
Good afternoon guys, first of all my greetings and wishes that everything is well. Tony suddenly had the spirit of Admiral Nelson, when he barely opened his mouth he said: We are sailors of oceans and not of small spaces, very funny 🤣😂 he barely grabbed the rudder wheel in the bad weather, what was his face? Mss Hyde or Mss Jekyll, I found it very funny. You Mss Tony are very funny, the videos are very beautiful and funny, congratulations. P.S. English proverb: Early bird, catch the worm. Good Luck. 👌
@@LarsBjörnsen Interesting, Lord Admiral Nelson was in command of the British naval squadron and allies Russia, Austria, however his adversaries France, Admiral Villeneuve and the Spanish Admiral Gravina were separated in the same battle of TRAFALGAR, quite the opposite of Lord Horatio Nelson. who assumed full command, how small the ocean is, HORATIO reduced the Gala fleet and the Spanish to pieces in a maneuver with REDUCED SPACE. HORATIO Nelson lost his life in the battle, the others lost their fleets. BEAUTIFUL NAVAL HISTORY
next time you can release the damaged snubber in the water, then install a new snubber where the chain is, then let more chain out and get the old snubber from the water, dixit a solo sailor
Thank you for the suggestion! We are reading all the comments and advice, so next time (although we are hoping there isn't one!), the process might go a little quicker and easier.
That's really appreciated! Our blood pressures were through the roof 😂 But it got dealt with, and we learned some lessons for next time... snubber chafe protection!
Maybe, for a bit of inexpensive and easily replaceable line chaff protection, get some bicycle inner tube cut to length and run your line through it. You could probably put some lubricant in it do the line moves.
Ah, bicycle inner tube would have been a great option! We've just bought some hose to try out, but extra lubricant, especially if the seastate gets rough and we start bouncing with the swell, is a good idea! We really don't want to go through this again...
This was a great video! Glad you both made it through okay. I am sure you have it all sorted out by now, but I would seriously consider sizing up on the snubber line. Yes they are supposed to stretch but that amount of roller movement (that close to te cleat) looked excessive to my eye. I actually use 2 seperate (single not double line) snubbers. The main snubber has a rubber mooring snubber (black rubber that the line is wound through) which takes up the majority of the shock load (from the swell) without relying on the line to stretch. That line runs as yours does (over the bow roller) the second snubber which I only use in rough conditions has slack in it so its not working all the time and is run through the hawse hole to another cleat. That fella is very large (1-2 sizes bigger diameter that the working snubber). The theory is that the second line is "fresh" if ever needed. Anyway...probably unsolicited advice and you look to have had it well under control. Great job!
Yes to sizing up! Rhythm is pretty heavy and we really didn't anticipate how fast a snubber could wear in such conditions at anchor. A second snubber for rough weather as you've described is a really good shout and not something we'd considered... looks like Tony is about to get splicing yet another one again!
Wow, sailing in the dark looks crazy, especially through that narrow passage! :O You guys are crazy, all of that movement on the boat is definitely not for us! 🤮
We actually did buy them after this... and now completely forget to use them 😅 Thanks for the reminder to hook them out and leave them somewhere easy to grab! Will call them "the marriage savers" from hereon.
Well done guys❤
Thank you so much!
Well, yet another exciting episode. I’m still waiting for the calm relaxed voyage I imagined you’d be having.
SO ARE WE! 😂

thats amazing one! I really love your content (greetings from Norse Seafarer ;)
We do love our naval history and Lord Admiral Nelson! Thank you 😊 And yes, the early bird does indeed catch the worm!
@KrzysztofKruczynski thank you, our Norse Seafarer friend ⚓️😊

Handled that like a real cool hand the pair of you. Nice work.

La verdad para andar de esa manera os podíais haber ahorrado el Mediterráneo e ir directamente a Canarias y el Caribe.

We like night sailing out at sea, not so fond when it comes to narrow channels 😅 But it was a good experience.
Get headphone walkie talkies......they are called marriage savers for a reason
