I respect this guy a lot. Amazing songwriter who unashamedly lived the rock and roll dream we all secretly long for. Did all the drugs he wanted and was famous as fuck. But...when the fame passed, and he got sober....he still wrote good music and actually grew into an even more likable guy. He's easy to respect. Good guy.
Really nice interview... A nice, polite interviewer asking interesting questions, and especially getting interesting, thought-out answers. A real pleasure to watch. Great interview all around!
Noel is hilarious. "... the lead singer of Oasis was obsessed with John Lennon to the point of lunacy." His last story about buying a computer & that there is "nothing on the internet" reminded me of Karl Pilkington.
Noel Gallagher is a legend. Life is not about back tracking is a great quote. Good interviewer, should be more people like him asking decent questions instead of the mainstream helmets who we get stuck with.
Wow, really excellent interview by a guy who clearly has the intelligence to throw decent questions out there. This was a great joy to watch, and we got to see an honest and serious side to Noel. Excellent job.
Honestly, one of the best interviews I have ever seen of Noel. And I don't mean it was the funniest or edgiest, but it was extremely honest and informative. The new album is great, and it was nice getting some good information behind the songs. The interviewer is miles ahead of most others out there.
@Karomarr AGAIN: NO. Liam came when there were ALREADY a band called Rain, and the singer was Chris Hutton. LIAM gave the name Oasis, from a poster he had seen, there was written "Oasis Leisure Centre, Swindon".
Jian Ghomeshi is one of the most intelligent articulate well versed individuals who can pull off a highly intriguing interview on any subject in the Q studio AND Noel Gallagher has finally grown up and is one spectacular songwriter/singer !
noel is damn good, not a huge oasis fan but when i hear it i like it. brains behind the curtain. also props for not getting a nose job. if he lived in the US he would for sure. we are so superficial here.
17:30 OH SNAP. I mean, yeah. That's the thing. They're not OASIS song, they're his songs. He wrote them. Liam sang it. Completely different things. Finally
Such a shame that before Noel releases Chasing Yesterday, Jian is being charged of being sexually abusive and removed from Q. Guess we'll never get an answer to that one question.
@mancunianoasis man, Liam founded with the other three guys a band called THE RAIN. Noel really was the last one to join the band that would record Definitely Maybe, but 'Oasis' is a name suggested by the Chief, the guy that is being interviewed above our comments.
Genius,i am generally a metaller but love oasis, noel is an extremely funny, highly intelligent human being,it would be a privilege to go for a pint with this guy.
So down to earth, there's no 'rock star' trappings about Noel Gallagher, its such a weird thing with him and Liam though! He can't help the odd sly dig at his brother..
"Stevie Wonder" "ehh... I don't wanna get into Stevie..." LOVE the reluctance. Obviously has huge breadth of opinion on music. Would love to watch just 5 hours of this kind of interview.
He's definitely dropped the Mancunian accent, and started sounding like a nice London boy, both language and attitude wise, unlike his brother. As for Liam, I still need subtitles.
Noel gives a great interview, but the interviewer here was great as well. Did his research and didn't ask the same 5 questions Noel's been asked by every interviewer before.
Matt Burrows I really couldn't care less about these allegations against him. I don't know the guy, all I care is what's on the screen and he's an amazing interviewer. Period.
it was 50/50- they wouldn't have got big without liam's distinctive voice either, so you could argue there's no need (although maybe he should show some recognition)
If u watch a lot of Noel's interviews, as well as other members of Oasis when they talk about Noel, he comes across as being quite a loner with a fairly uneventful life outside of his music career. I think he's a very private person, he hardly ever talks about his personal life in interviews and as he mentions at 04:22 he doesn't feel the need to be in the public eye all the time. I've found him to be a bit of an enigma.....the image seems to be far removed from the real man.
You've obviously never watched early Oasis interviews from 1994-95. theres one in sweden where he says something along the lines of how he doesnt write, so he's a fan of Noel, and that all he needs is the Beatles and Noel.
He IS one of the greatest writers EVER. If you don't overly like his music don't let that get in the way of appreciating the album upon album of timeless classics. Name anyone who can compete outside of The Beatles.
Tim Coe fuck the Beatles. I hate the way people think they are be all end all. They were fucking druggies making noise. I'm an oasis fan but I actually hate the Beatles
@SelasSolaris do you learn things on the "Wikipedia"? The Wikipedia DOESN'T say so anyway. "Oasis evolved from an earlier band called The Rain, composed of McGuigan, Bonehead, McCarroll, Hutton. Unsatisfied with Hutton, Arthurs auditioned acquaintance Liam as a replacement. Liam suggested that the band name be changed to Oasis.
Good guy.
I love that he admits he's not a workaholic and he wants to bum around for a year, pisses me off when pop stars go on about how hard they work
Why? They probably do and some don't it's not that big of a deal
This is one of the best interviews I've seen of Noel and the interviewer was very good! And I didn't know Noel could be so hilarious!
One of the better Noel interviews out there! I like the interviewer, asks meaningful and thought provoking questions to Noel. Cheers.
10 years ago... I remember watching this.... where does time go?
ace interview, like how the interviewer challenges noel at places, but also keeps it cool. ace topics too
Really nice interview... A nice, polite interviewer asking interesting questions, and especially getting interesting, thought-out answers. A real pleasure to watch.
Great interview all around!
Noel is hilarious. "... the lead singer of Oasis was obsessed with John Lennon to the point of lunacy."
His last story about buying a computer & that there is "nothing on the internet" reminded me of Karl Pilkington.
Jian Ghomeshi's questions have just the right level of inquisitiveness, and Noel's responses are appropriately insightful. Superb interview.
I love this interviewer . Too bad he doesn’t have a show anymore sad😢
What a very intellectual interview with Noel. Jian always makes the best interviews.
You have a very nice ring.... nice way to start an interview
1ranjeeves21 He unwittingly dropped his MO
This dude is a fantastic interviewer...
And an even better feminist.
Was*
Love Noels Music and Songs. Comes across well on interviews. Nice guy , good interview.
nice guy?
He's a boring has been
+Barrios Groupie I think you'll find that his brother is the boring has-been and always was.
+Barrios Groupie You're thinking of Liam.
he's so good in explaining and reasoning.. it makes it so easy to understand all the choices he made, so honest, great guy
Great interview. Love Noel's honesty I could listen to him all day. And yeah, all I use the internet for is entertainment and shopping.
these are the best interview on youtube PERIOD. Each interview are amazing

Great interview here. And funny too.
Great interview Noel and interviewer!!
This is one of the best interviews I've ever steen, great job!
Noel seems to be much happier as a guy than he was while with Oasis. I'm glad for him!
Amazing interview.
I've never been a "fan" of the buzz that I have heard as to who Noel Gallagher is/was, but this video has got me taking a second look at this guy.
amazing interview !! .. first time ive seen noel actually thinking and taking time and interest and being serious on is answers !
Great interviewer, great interview, great musician.
What an awesome interviewer, props!
Omg, that last story had me keeled over with laughter.
i almost choked to death on a sip of water
A very nice interview!
wow, fantastic interview!

Great interview man!!
@Karomarr AGAIN: NO. Liam came when there were ALREADY a band called Rain, and the singer was Chris Hutton. LIAM gave the name Oasis, from a poster he had seen, there was written "Oasis Leisure Centre, Swindon".
His voice is amazing, the best male voice out there.
brilliant interview, a real in depth look at an artist.
now that's a great interview, one of the best ever on Q
Jian Ghomeshi is one of the most intelligent articulate well versed individuals who can pull off a highly intriguing interview on any subject in the Q studio AND Noel Gallagher has finally grown up and is one spectacular songwriter/singer !
noel is damn good, not a huge oasis fan but when i hear it i like it. brains behind the curtain.
also props for not getting a nose job. if he lived in the US he would for sure. we are so superficial here.
he is a quality interviewer
Yeah, shame about the whole rape thing.
Great interview man!!! Song Writer/Singer!!! x
he has to be, the most polite interviewer in the world and didnt ask stupid questions.
17:30 OH SNAP. I mean, yeah. That's the thing. They're not OASIS song, they're his songs. He wrote them. Liam sang it. Completely different things. Finally
It's lovely getting someone who can interview someone well. They get the best out of people. This guys is great. Noel on form as ever.
"It is believed..." Always a pleasure to hear him talk:-)
GREAT questions for Noel. You can tell that Noel has respect for the interviewer.
very very nice interview
fantastic interview. his honesty abot life is refreshing. feet still firmly on the ground.
"[Gasp!] What's that?
It's a Banjo.
What're you going to do with it?"
LOL the ending story was awesome!
Awesome interview, and so true on so many aspects!
what an insightful interview, great stuff!
Brilliant interview
"I own those songs"...love it!!
Noel is a genius
Still true ♡
Say what you like but I've never seen a bad interview with Noel. He must be an interviewer's dream.
weird that he says he's not in a stadium performer yet he did a sellout performance at the O2
Great interview
now that was a fantastic interview
would love to see Noel playing a banjo!!
awesome interviewer his voice is well nice to listen to and noel...... need i say anything? GOD
Such a shame that before Noel releases Chasing Yesterday, Jian is being charged of being sexually abusive and removed from Q. Guess we'll never get an answer to that one question.
great interview and great questions!!! he's a funny guy
I will now call myself a "songwriter/singer"
Inspirational singer/songwriter/guitarist
Great interviewer
He is an excellent interviewer
@mancunianoasis man, Liam founded with the other three guys a band called THE RAIN. Noel really was the last one to join the band that would record Definitely Maybe, but 'Oasis' is a name suggested by the Chief, the guy that is being interviewed above our comments.
No Liam came up with the name. Not Noel.
I like his sincerity
Noel is probably my favorite person in the whole world
Genius,i am generally a metaller but love oasis, noel is an extremely funny, highly intelligent human being,it would be a privilege to go for a pint with this guy.
Great to see Noel giving intelligent responses to intelligent questions, he normally just runs rings around idiots asking uninspired questions.
So down to earth, there's no 'rock star' trappings about Noel Gallagher, its such a weird thing with him and Liam though! He can't help the odd sly dig at his brother..
Love Noel Gallagher and Oasis.
What a great interview... i can't remember Noel saying someone else "that's a good question" 11:25
I absolutley love him.
"Stevie Wonder"
"ehh... I don't wanna get into Stevie..."
LOVE the reluctance. Obviously has huge breadth of opinion on music. Would love to watch just 5 hours of this kind of interview.
top interview
that's right, entertainment and shopping, that's all the internet is for. you got the point, Noel.
good interview.
He's definitely dropped the Mancunian accent, and started sounding like a nice London boy, both language and attitude wise, unlike his brother. As for Liam, I still need subtitles.
I think it’s just because he’s been away from Manchester for so long. Liam puts it on a bit imo. Part of his ‘persona’.
This interviewer is going places.
Noel gives a great interview, but the interviewer here was great as well. Did his research and didn't ask the same 5 questions Noel's been asked by every interviewer before.
Damn that interviewer is amazing!
Matt Burrows really?
Matt Burrows
who cares if he's kinky i still dig him
Matt Burrows
wtf are you talking about
Matt Burrows
who isnt.
Matt Burrows I really couldn't care less about these allegations against him. I don't know the guy, all I care is what's on the screen and he's an amazing interviewer. Period.
Noel’s hilarious man. Legend.
this guy is a great artist
Some one should ask him how he grows his garden. And then say "I don't really wanna know how your garden grows".
it was 50/50- they wouldn't have got big without liam's distinctive voice either, so you could argue there's no need (although maybe he should show some recognition)

It's nice to see an interviewer asking good questions not just the dumb "Let's get who hates more lol!!!!1" Great Interview lads.
You've obviously never watched early Oasis interviews from 1994-95. theres one in sweden where he says something along the lines of how he doesnt write, so he's a fan of Noel, and that all he needs is the Beatles and Noel.

In Britain they did the biggest gigs in British history .
👌👌👌 great interview..
you got the point but in my opinion it is impossible to get so marginally better voice like this.
@weskane23 He's also playing all the Big Day Out concerts in Australian & NZ. They usually get 80 - 120 thousand people per gig.
Yea ,great Interview, Noel is a one hellava song writer and a hellava nice guy .
good interview . good questions . brill
great interview-dj's got nice eyes & smile (& voice)
