  • A DETAILED review of the Residence Inn Washington DC Foggy Bottom in Washington DC. I recently spent 2 nights at this hotel and I review the neighborhood around the hotel, the common areas, and the inside of one of the hotel rooms. The best part about this hotel is the location just one block away from the Foggy Bottom metro station. But the hotel rooms are in need of some serious renovations.

Thanks for reviewing this hotel, Chris! This hotel is amazingly located though it's clearly seen better days. I think 2.5 Tophers sounds exactly right.

Great review! That is a pretty good location, but they definitely need to renovate the rooms especially if the threads are coming out of the carpet. I probably would wait to stay there until the rooms have been renovated or if they are in the process of renovating the rooms as the hotel rooms may have a discount!

Hi Chris. Ouch! $200.00 for that room. The area is a nice place, but it's not worth it to me. I wonder how they got the name Foggy Bottom.

The area used to be somewhat industrial (by DC standards anyway) and the most common believe is that it got the name Foggy Bottom from the combination of industrial emissions and fog coming off of the Potomac River.

Interesting. I thought you only find full kitchens in time share hotel rooms, which, I assume, a hotel in Washington DC is probably not.

Residence Inn is known for full kitchens... I just like to have a refrigerator

      @@YellowProductions I see, thanks.
In my childish fantasies of the hotel hopping lifestyle, there is no grocery shopping, hehehe. That is why I don't value a fridge enough, I suppose.
I once saw a documentary on the world's biggest supermarket in Sweden. The thing is so huge and attracts people from all over Scandinavia, that it has its own hotel attached and the rooms in that hotel aren't just equipped with refrigerators, but even with large freezer boxes, so people can store their frozen purchases in there during their stay. As far as I know, the hotel elevators, hallways and rooms are even shopping cart accessible.
If you are ever short on ideas for where to go on a interesting short trip, or if you are going to Sweden anyways, you should check that place out. Would certainly make for a bunch of interesting videos.

That room is gross...and all that nastiness for only $ 200. At your "fair" price of $ 150, you'd be staying at a 5 or 6-Star Marriott or Sheraton in Bangkok.

Yes.. Bangkok hotels are way nicer than DC hotels :)
