The room looks quite nice, I always look for modern finishes in a hotel, that's how I rate hotels I stay in 😆. Location is definitely a top priority especially if we don't rent a car. When I was in San Francisco in April, we stayed at the Home2 Suites by Hilton South San Francisco. The street that it was on was all Hilton-brand hotels in a business district. I really enjoyed it for its new construction property, amazing suite rooms, and great breakfast for its category. Pretty much all the Home2 Suites hotels are affordable.
Welcome to my city. Thanks for the review. I actually liked the room better than 3 tophers, but I’ll have to see it for myself to really tell you my side. Red shoes look good. It takes a brave man to wear them. I have always wanted a pair for myself but I can only match them with certain colors. One day I might just do it.
The room looks really nice (minus the peeling wallpaper and the uncovered outlet) overall especially those views looking outside. The bathroom looked rather small though. I'm glad that it is a pretty good hotel overall which isn't too bad in price when looking for a hotel outside of San Francisco where hotels tend to be a lot more expensive.
Great video, Chris! I was really impressed with the remodel, as I really liked the wood paneling and warm, welcoming feel. I also liked the style of the tv in the wall. However, to learn that was peeling wallpaper was disheartening.
Great video! It has been almost 5 years since I’ve been to this hotel! I was really impressed with this hotel when I first came here!you should stay at a one star reviewed hotel and make a video about it! One hotel that I think you should stay at the DoubleTree by Hilton Berkeley Marina hotel!
My wife and I stayed at this hotel last Thanksgiving weekend, it’s a 3/5 for us as well, decent hotel but the service was meh. We only stayed so my dad can meet us halfway to Vacaville for Thanksgiving dinner
Sadly in recent years the Oakland Chinatown area has been a target of a rash of violent attacks, so it’s not clear how safe a neighborhood it really is for the tourists! Nonetheless, the hotel itself looks decent enough, if what you’re mostly interested in is a place to crash for the night, near the airport. Thanks for the tour, Chris. P.S. It takes a certain self-confident attitude to pull off those red shoes 👞; albeit, the color combination with yellow works great. The criminal elements in the area must take one look at your outfit and say to themselves: Anyone who’s not afraid to stick out like a sore thumb and a camera in his hands, in this neighborhood, must be a kung fu master in disguise. 😀 🥋
The "rash of violent attacks" in the Chinatown area were hate crimes against Asian-Americans, inflicted during the Covid-19 pandemic, incited by the vile racist, anti-Asian calumnies of Trump, Greene, et al. To leave that fact out exculpates American racist politicians and feeds the hoary racist cliches about cities in general and Oakland in particular.
Sketchy area, with a lot of crime. That area is also where a lot of hate crimes and assaults against elderly Asian Americans occur. Many times in broad daylight. I used to like Oakland, now too many sideshows and guns. A real shame.
I agree with this. Oakland was always bad but back then some areas were still safe. There's a video back in Dec where someone got robbed at gun point while loading in front of this hotel. So sad what oakland has been.

Thanks for the tip on the Home2 suites Kristina!

Absolutely beautiful hotel, thanks for sharing.
Thanks!

Yeah. This hotel was less than half the price of SF hotels

That’s my home town. Thank You Chris
Thanks Hubaldo!
Hi Chris. Thanks for the room tour. I would stay there because it's so close to Chinatown.
Good eats nearby!
Chris did you make it to the Berkeley and Piedmont Hills area? Fentons Creamery is always a must for me when I’m in that area. Such a beautiful area!
Love Fenton’s went there for my dad’s birthday!
Berkeley yes. But I didn't try Fentons. I'll keep that in mind for next time
THANKS FOR THE REVIEW
Thanks Linda!
I love Chintowns. Are there any chinese medicine places around?

I'll keep that suggestion in mind 😉
Chris, you have a yellow painting in the bath!
Oooh
Oakland Marriott was. One of Tom Hanks first jobs.
Neat!
Thanks for the review! I've been enjoying your sort videos on Facebook! The only thing is they seem rushed at times and too brief.
Thanks Alex. They are longer over here on UA-cam. They are reedited to be shorter and snappier on Facebook
The parking is ridiculously expensive. During my stay it was $50/day! (They may change cost at different points throughout the year.)
Ouch
Please stay safe in Oakland. It’s the Wild West.

Good minds think alike JR
I gave it a 3.5 considering how the other hotels are in the area.
I work 5 blocks away. Too rough lol.

If you want something stolen out of your car, especially a rental, go to Oakland.

That's unfortunate Norman. No doubt why the hotel had a strong security contingent
