I just found this channel and am smiling.....I'm from Guyana and this is what we call fried bake or float and this goes really well served with salt fish.....
Thank you chef .I had to You tube this because I kept wasting my money buying a lot of it at my local Jamaican shop. Yes even though it says 6years ago on this platform it is still relevant today as it was this that popped up immediately as soon as I type it in. So wow! Welldone!I should have learnt it or even known how to make it by now but i guess was lazy and I got fed up because the ones I purchase from my local shop as I said sometimes comes out burnt and yet still sold to us like that. I then made up my mind to try it myself today so before I did I had to check it out here first. Thanks ever so much. You SAVED me a lot of money and too much hassle putting up with the ones I used to buy including the burnt ones. Not EVER stepping my feet there again at that shop again. Thanks a great. We have Jamaican roots by the way. Thanks again and I bless GOD! ❤❤❤🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🙌🏼
I've always been told I'm a good cook, but this is one thing I've always struggle with... Jamaican fried dumplings. thank you chef for this simple and easy recipe, so excited.. can't wait to try it.
2 cups self raising flour A pinch of salt Teaspoon of sugar Little bit cold milk to bring dough together - cover in cling film and leave for 20-30 min - remove Cling film and roll into balls - fry in 2 1/2 cups of vegetable oil
I was just asking myself was he saying "Al-mond milk" 🤣😂 I had to quick time scroll the comments to catch that lol. Time to try and make these dumplings
I miss my dad he just passed from cancer he was a true Jamaican who always called his food poor mans food I miss him man and his accent he even named me Tafari 😞
Barbara Campbell it’s called a dialect. Don’t ask him to speak like you. It’s his language. Us Caribbeans know how it’s pronounced in your language, we choose not to speak that way and keep our native tongue. Thanks. You asking us to change it is the equivalent of British asking Americans to pronounce things the same way.
Yes that is how my mother taught me. A pinch of this a dash of that. When I would ask her how much as at school we weighed or measured ingredients.......she would say "use yu judgement." lol
Love the quantities! Versus reality! When you know how to cook using experience and a keen eye measurements are just a guideline for the beginners.. Only ever used a dash of milk but looking forward to tasting a ‘no water’ dumpling!
I just made mine! I flavored the flour very lightly with nutmeg, cinnamon, tumeric, and ginger. When they were done, I dusted them lightly with coconut sugar. They are delicious!!!😍😋Dec. 31 2017 Los Angeles

Absolutely love fried dumplings. I have never been able to make them properly. Followed this recipe and they came out amazingly. Thank you ever so much.
Yes Jamaicans do make dumplings with milk and sometimes a little water also it is traditional especially in places where milk would have been available
This recipe is full proof🙌🏿🙌🏿 I used water, but the came out nice and crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. Thank you so much for sharing 😍😋👌🏾
Tip: when mixing flour like he's doing, NEVER USE YOUR FINGERS at first, use a fork, spoon, etc. UNTIL IT GATHERS TOGETHER INTO A LUMP. After that use your fingers. Otherwise you get all stuck to you. A MESS
watching your video from Atlanta Georgia.. my mom live in Florida she always fried dumpling when we go to visit, but I'm always sleeping in the morning so I never see how shee fix it... thanks chef Ricardo I'll definitely try your way...
My grandmother used to make it with coconut milk mixed with a little water. And she used to add the salt to the liquid instead of adding it to the flour.
Now chef.. you know good and well that wasn’t a PINCH of anything, that was a POUR.. a 3 second POUR of salt rather! 😂 *continues to watch though cause you da best*
