iv'e had one guy running barefoot in front of me during one of my 10k races, he finished in 37 minutes while i finished just over 37:30, literally got me SO mad
This has got to be some kind of world record. Fastest half marathon while vlogging. I don't know how you can talk and smile at that pace. You're a bad dude!
This guy is someone to look up to. Hard working and one of the best personalities I've seen. Also all the great advice which helped me improve my running times.
As a Geordie, it's great to see you enjoyed the city so much - thank you for doing it and the race justice in the videos! I crossed the line a solid 16 mins behind you but can't wait to be back next year, hopefully at the finish a little sooner next time like
My first Great North run, managed a sub 2 hours with a 1h56m. The whole day was amazing from the support to the weather. Looking forward to Berlin myself, hope to see you there.
The support on the run looks amazing! It was never in my radar but deffo going to sign up in the near future. Amazing time and even more amazing you can talk to camera during!
No way! I was literally right in front of you in the start blocks (definitely not at the end). I'm the tool with both hand in the air just before we go - still sporting my Belrin marathon 2018 wrist tag. haha. Gonna get this shared and tagged as you run with/pass so many of our club runners. Great time too 😁
Another great video Ben ... that was an phenomenal time to run carrying a camera, videoing yourself and surely all the distraction which that brings. Best wishes for the final few week of Berlin Marathon prep
Hi Ben, very impressive running and congrats on being the first non-elite! I was the guy in the Bath vest who spoke to you at the start line, and also waved at the camera at about 3:45! It was nice to meet you, and maybe again at Frankfurt (but probably about 20 minutes behind you!)
Ben Parkes 3 minute PB of 1:17:15 for me, so obviously very happy! I set off a little quickly (probably because of the camera!) but managed to keep it going And will do! Good luck in Berlin too
Well done Ben, what a fantastic time. I did GNR for the 6th year in a row this year, I don't think I could bear to miss out on doing it now. It's always has such a fantastic atmosphere, glad you enjoyed it.
Hi Ben - followed your advanced HM plan and ran GNR in 93 mins. First ever race (first ever run in a group) so pretty happy with that. Birmingham Half in just under 4 weeks. Thanks +++ for all the content!
First time running in a group (especially the size of GNR) is pretty daunting.. but a great learning experience. Well done Mike. All the next in Birmingham!
You just brought the whole day back for me so thank you! Such an amazing experience. Been running just over a year and my 1st GNR, was very happy with my 1.52 finish. Will definitely be doing it again
Ben..what can I say..a cracking time and with a Go Pro!! Love your videos and tips thanks for sharing. Wishing you all the best for Berlin mate. Haven't done GNR as yet but is on my running bucket list.
You started at the front I started at the very back. You finished and I had only just crossed the start line. It was warmer than 12 degrees I got sunburned 🦞
Absolutely inspiring mate. I recently ran a 5K PB (22:47) while being 10.5 kg heavier than last year when I ran a 22:54. You make me want to really focus and go sub-20 some day soon.
Well done Ben it's such an iconic event and you managed to capture it. The GNR back in 2004 was my first ever race and I have been lucky enough to do it twice since then in 2009 and 2015. Hoping to go back next year for the 40th anniversary and give sub 80 a go
@@BenParkesthanks for asking 🙂 76.24 so 24 seconds slower than my best but pleased I got close 89th is a fairly good position. Looking forward to tracking you in Berlin.
My wifes dad did a 69min gnr many years ago which I always find incredible but running that time while chatting and videoing is beserk! Well done! My best was 2h1m
Good run there Ben, I ran it this year dressed as Batman and managed a 1.23 finish, again like every year the crowds are just amazing for the full course, over in Berlin next week too for the big day
@@BenParkes Cheers Ben, appreciate that and the support. It's a lot easier I'm sure to hold a GoPro at 12min/km than 3min/km. In saying that it's still hard. Looking forward to your next video (already).
Love the GNR. Hope you did oggey oggey oggey in the tunnels. Tough course. A long way from being flat. Tough incline around 11 miles if I remember rightly.
Ran this a few years ago. Managed to get sub 140 not my fastest but good enough. Very good race overall the atmosphere is like no other. 24 hours coach journey. Spread over the weekend. Plymouth and back
Amazing time Ben,1.45 for me but times are coming down thanks to the excellent advice in your UA-cam channel vids, just purchased my first hat #gettingitdone
Ben, you inspired me a lot. I already run night half marathon with go pro on my head. Next time I will try run like you with gopro in my hand. But slower ofc (4:20) :D Good luck in Berlin! Greetings from Poland!
Thx for the upload. really enjoyed this video. I cant understand how you can chat and film at the same time, now I understand how my sis feel when Im chatting in our run =P My training is going pretty bad. 12 Okt I gonna do my first Ultra 50 km ( trail/ road. And yeaster day I did my long run 19 km and I almost die and it wasnt my hardest tempo
Ben, could You do video about your progress? How you started, what You gave biggest progress and that staff. Would be really awesome. I know, there is old video You showing your first marathon but You manage to improve so much that's nearly amazing. I would improve myself at least half like you. Please do this kind of video :) Amazing video. Great race. Berlin PB coming for You! Hope one day I'll visit this race :)
Great video and thanks again for sharing. Your videos are like gasoline on a fire for my motivation. Do you have any kind nutrition plan för races like this?
Haha fair enough thought they were some sort of new pain relief pads maybe. Congrats on the time though I'd love to run that time. I'm currently in training for my first road marathon in Chester in October training for 3.15 but hoping more around 3.05/10 🌱💚🖤
Another excellent video Ben! Only channel that I set Notifications to!!! 👌🏻 With a heavy training schedule for a big race... do you ever have days or weeks where you are mentally fatigued? You know when you know that you need to do that big training run but you aren’t bursting out of the front door to do it? How do you over come that? I am training for my 2 nd marathon of the year (with a big PB in mind) and last week I just felt a bit mentally lethargic and was desperate for some sort of pick-me-up / inspiration. How do you deal with those moments?
Can you imagine being a 1:10 half marathoner and someone passes you up vlogging?
3:16 pace and you can still casually chat while running. That's like my flat out sprint 1K time, lol.
Rincerr yes me too 3:16 ! Insane pace when you talk 😂
Getting dusted by Ben while he's talking to a camera all casual has to be the worst lol.
I'm sure someone will come along and do that to me one day.. only a matter of time!
😂😂😂 i onve had a person run past me in sandals.. f#$%ing SANDALS!!!!!!!!
In one of the stills I can see my mate, he ran 68.50 in the end though!

Jody Ford Wasn’t one of the Tarahumara Tribe was it ? 😂😂😂
Can we take a moment to appreciate some of the sacrifices Ben makes to give us some good running content?
This has got to be some kind of world record. Fastest half marathon while vlogging. I don't know how you can talk and smile at that pace. You're a bad dude!
Don't be so humble, you pace your living room at a pretty fast clip in your vlogs.

Rudolph Clench came from a modest background running wise aswell
lol literally the most effortless sub 70 half i've ever seen
That’s just freaking insane DANG
Only 11 minutes off the world record while talking and holding a camera lmao

Great running, best supported race the Great North Run. Excellent
Impressive run! I was wondering : What are those stickers above your knees after the run?
They are pads for my Compex machine.. just forgot to take them off after using it post race!
@@BenParkes how is the compex? I've looked at them a few times. Be interesting to see you do a video on them, if you haven't already!
I need to run this! Great job, Ben.
The Great North Run looks amazing! I live in Brighton, so it's a bit of a journey for me! I'm doing the Great South Run in October 2022.
