fun fact, for the tv show they actually got most of the voice actors back with the exception of snoopdogg. the show is much better than you're ready for.
2:24 i agree with you 😂 It's always the "never meet your heroes" type of villains. I always feel bad for characters who admire a famous person only for then to feel betrayed when they realize that their idols are nothing but selfish rude and greedy people who don't care about the fans who are inspired by them, all they care about is their fame.
This movie is a nostalgic favorite of mine. I love the star-studded cast and how the snails are animated and creatively get around. They get especially creative with the big race. Plus, this movie spawned the Netflix series _Turbo: F.A.S.T.,_ one of my favorite shows from my teenage years.
Not the top of the DreamWorks catalogue but I think it’s cute. I’m glad you guys enjoyed it. Sometimes all a movie needs is to be fun. And this certainly is just fun
Fun-Fact time, my oldest brother worked for a 3D Mondeling company (Can't say), and they sometimes had exclusive clients. When I say clients, I mean representatives from BIG CORPORATIONS. So my brother and his team would make random parts and all these separate parts connected together to make a whole piece. My brother at the time didn't know he was making the spoiler for the shell of Turbo. It wasn't until the movie was out of theaters that he finally told the family that he had made something for a movie. The 3D modeling company made all the employees who worked on the project sign NDAs.
I haven’t even seen the full reaction yet but I saw this pop up and immediately clicked. I love turbo and NO ONE ELSE DOES. it’s so cute and Ryan Reynolds just kills it. He’s also in the croods lol
Ironically, in this movie Ryan Reynolds' character's adversary is named Guy (pronounced the French way) and in the Croods franchise, his character is named Guy (pronounced the American way.)
24:13 "Weren't those the Madagascar monkeys?" Yeah, those were Mason and Phil from the Madagascar franchise... making a cameo in Turbo... "Madagascar showed up for NASCAR" lollll
So, I would say I'm pretty young and was more or less a teen when this came out and it became one of my favorite animated movies. I watched the subsequent 2D animated series released on Netflix, which I admittedly liked better, and got obsessed with Turbo's world. I really loved the characters above everything else. Idk, it brings me so many fond memories despite not being Kung-Fu Panda 2 levels of good. I might rewatch the series, I remember it being a lot of fun.
Turbo is one of my favorite animated movies and if I’m not mistaken it’s a DreamWorks movie, a true underdog story of a snail who had a big dream. Gotta go fast!!!
A few fun facts: Michael Pena, Samuel L. Jackson, and Ryan Reynolds have all been in Marvel franchises and they're also all in this movie, as Tito, Whiplash, and Turbo respectively. Whiplash's coloration includes purple because like in Star Wars, it's Samuel L. Jackson's favorite and signature color. Ben Schwarz voices Skid Mark, and would later on portray Sonic the Hedgehog in both movies, so Sonic wasn't the first time he's voiced a speedster/racer. There are several real racecar drivers and sportscasters in this movie as other drivers and the announcers.
Ryan Reynolds voices Turbo. The film came out in summer 2013 right before "Frozen" fever took over. For a really old school animated movie I would recommend "The Secret Of Nimh" from 1982
OOOOOOHHHHH The Secret of Nimh was a really good Don Bluth (former Disney veteran) movie, and when I found out it was based on a book, I HAD to read it! The story and book are a bit different from each other, but also both really great in their own rights. The original book focuses more on the Rats' story and their future plans, whereas the movie focuses mostly on Mrs. Brisby (whose original name was Mrs. Frisby, but the movie changed her name to avoid copyright by Wham-O for the Frisbee toy.) Both versions depict her as a strong, brave, and devoted mother, and made me appreciate my mom a lot more since my mom is also a single mother.
16:10 From an evolutionary perspective, that’s true. Birds evolved from dinosaurs. And some species, including velociraptors and tyrannosaurs, may have actually had feathers.
Bird ARE dinosaurs. They still are, the classic classification of vertebrates changed long time ago. Dinos aren't reptiles anymore, more like....their own thing and they can be avian or non avian
Also, here's my theory on how turbo got his power back: I think his mutated cells got tired and expended all the accumulated "energy" throughout the whole race. And after the "healing" phase, his cells regen the broken shell & recharged without turbo realizing; that's why it came back all of a sudden at the end. *HIS POWER'S STILL IN THERE ALL ALONG*
Humans kept confusing Chet for a female, which is used as a running gag in the whole franchise. However, IRL snails are hermaphroditic, which means they can function and reproduce with ANY snail of their species as either male or female and can switch their sex if needed.
It just occurred to me while watching this You could make an animation (from here 41:58) of nick fury berating Deadpool about how he needs to stop driving like he's a car
If anyone sees this, my theory about the end of the movie. How and why Turbo/Theo lost and regained his powers. I feel like his shell was acting as a concentrator? I'm not sufficiently educated in the right things to be sure I have the right terminology. His body generates Mysterious Blue Energy (TM) which is then sent into his shell to build up until it spills back out and/or gets concentrated enough to power his car speed. When his shell got damaged the powers, at least the speed power, went away. Notice that it didn't stop working completely until his shell covering was ripped off. And I think it was less damaged then the shell underneath. Helping contain the Mysterious Blue Energy (TM) maybe? Then, when his powers (presumably) had finished regrowing the shell (something I'm pretty sure real snails can't do) the speed power came back. So that's my theory. Hope you enjoyed and that it made sense.
26:12 Hehehe, Snails are invertebrates, which means they have no bones or spines... Their necks should not be cracking, but cartoon physics/logic says they can... I mean, Turbo doesn't have tires or treads on his foot, and yet he has tire tracks and burns rubber, soooooo yeah.
I just noticed, in cars 3 doc hudson does a jump from a wall to get over another driver. Turbo does that in this movie. And it's framed the same way too, with a zoom in the characters and a slow mo
I really enjoyed watching Turbo with you guys as it was my second time watching it😁🔥. It was fun. The animation was great in this film as DreamWork’s animation is just so amazing as it has developed so well over the years. The cast was great including Ryan Reynolds as Turbo, Samuel L Jackson, Paul Giamti, Snoop Dogg, Bill Hader, Luis Guzmán, Michael Peña, Ken Jeong, Michelle Rodriguez etc👍. I think for me the disappointing part was when Turbo who was looking up to this racer who was his idol just turned out to be a very arrogant person and didn’t support him as it turned into a rivalry but Turbo won and proved him wrong which was great. Loved your reaction/analysis, take care, stay healthy, enjoy life and have a good one❤️
I’m going to be honest but this is literally one of my least favorite and by far the most generic DreamWorks Animation film, mainly due to the fact that story element aesthetics feel reminiscent to Pixar’s _Cars_ movies and the relationship between TURBO and the Taco Guy (Tito) feels eerily similar to Remy’s relationship with Linguini in _Ratatouille_ (also by Pixar) and the villain, Guy was one of the weakest villains in DreamWorks and just the bottom of the barrel in terms of DreamWorks animated villains. However, I do slightly enjoy this more than _Home_ and _The Boss Baby_ movies but slightly below the Bee Movie and If I was in a room and I had a choice between _Bee Movie_ and _TURBO_ I would pick _Bee Movie._ Also massive congrats on gaining 260k+ subscribers on the channel and looking forward to the animated movies you’ll be reacting in October.
Does this movie remind anyone else of the phone game Snail Mail? I would play it on my dad’s phone growing up and I was convinced this movie was inspired by that game when it came out…😂
this movie is pretty cute, haven’t seen it in awhile so I’ll have to add it to my watch list! Love watching your reactions. I’d love to see you two react to Over the Garden Wall you would really enjoy it ☺️
15:44 I’m not sure if this is true but since the shot is done from the snail’s point of view and maybe snails can’t see as many colours as we can so everything is very grey.
I think you guys should watch rush 2013 movie It's an incredible baces on real life movie and one of the good ones in racing with cars. Full of joy, drama, tension and 2 of the actors that I like ate in it It's so underrated and definitely worth a try
Hey, question: have you guys done Marvel reactions? I mean like mainstream MCU cause I know you did the first Spider-verse film; the reason I'm asking is because there's a series on Disney I would like you guys to check out, it's called "Agents of Shield". Sadly it falls under the "non-canon" category along with the original "Ghost Rider" and "Blade" trilogies, so a lot of people either haven't seen it or just blatantly won't watch it. I've binged watch this series multiple times, and I can say without shadow of a doubt it is by far one of, if not, the best (and longest, running 7 seasons) marvel projects ever made; to me it's basically the ATLA of Marvel (that reference I make specifically for you, James, to convey how much I loved A.O.S.).
I think they did reacted to _Kiki’s Delivery Service_ which was two years ago but it wasn’t a full reaction due to copyright from Studio Ghibli just the intro and post discussion. Honestly I’m not sure if James and Nobu will do ANY Studio Ghibli reactions on the channel, because as much as it would be awesome to have them react to these films, I’m concerned that these reactions would be taken down for international copyright by Studio Ghibli in a day or two after it’s upload resulting in a possible termination on the channel. Now granted there are a few reaction channels that do react to Studio Ghibli films like Suzy Lu, LIPPSMACKER and Reel Time that didn’t had their reactions taken down for copyright but that’s due to the reaction content they react on the channel.
You’re not the only one who thinks that TURBO and the Tito’s friendship feels eerily similar to Remy’s relationship with Linguini in _Ratatouille_ even I’m getting a lot of vibes from Pixar’s _Cars_ movies from the aesthetic of this movie.

The best part for is most definitely when they start playing Eye of the Tiger
The voice cast they got is insane and I love it
I havent seen this movie since it came out and I just now realised from hearing his voice that turbo is voiced by Ryan Reynolds 😂
Humans kept confusing Chet for a female, which is used as a running gag in the whole franchise. However, IRL snails are hermaphroditic, which means they can function and reproduce with ANY snail of their species as either male or female and can switch their sex if needed.
