Charlie has talked about Gears of War quite a bit and I even watched him play the franchise recently.
Sad thing is, gears 4-5 weren’t the best gears games, and didn’t deliver what people wanted. And what Microsoft got outta that was “I guess people don’t like gears of war” shame…
Sonic was actually designed with the help of psychologists. They did things like pick specific colours that kids were attracted too. The blue Sonic colour is a specifically chosen shade of blue that 90% of the time he is coloured with in the details Sega gives to you when you make official sonic art, his shoes are a specific colour and amount of red. Shit like that. All because they wanted to design a mascot more popular then Mario.
They utterly failed at that but that’s likely more to do with their track record of games than the character. They did a good job making an iconic-looking character.

Commander is such fire. Even coming from a fighting game player like myself I think Commander might actually be the best game ever created. RIP Sheldon
I wouldn't go that far. It's solid but has serious issues. I've been playing magic for around 20 years now and a big thing the Commander format suffers from is whenever you play with people who play at different power levels. Nobody can agree on what a "7" is for a deck so unless you're regularly playing with a set friend group it can lead to a lot of toxicity. But I highly enjoy competitive EDH, that stuff is sweet. Aside from that, Magic as a whole has just been really mismanaged lately. A lot of their senior devs have left and it really shows in the new designs we're seeing in recent sets. Not to mention what a crazy amount of product they release each year. It used to be feasible to collect a full set of everything as it released until like 2020 or 2021, whichever year it was that they seriously cranked up releases to the point where there's a new product every few weeks. Only other real issue I have is just the fact that the company behind it is super scummy, but I guess that's just every company these days.
@@Alino- as a fellow cedh main I agree that casual has a lot of issues, but most of them will be present when you casually game in any environment. Go boot up street fighter with 4 of your friends and you won't all be playing at the same level more than likely, as an example. Some will ban grabs, some will call supers cheap etc. The issues that present itself with edh I find mostly iron out when you have good matchmaking and players who want to actually play, which is more than can be said for a lot of other gaming environments imo
One of the best bungie quotes about Halo was “we dont want you to just run in a room, shoot a bunch of guys and run into another room. We want the enemies to feel like they were doing something besides just waiting on you to walk in” you had sleeping grunts or brutes taking a leak. Unless it was fitting, the enemy wasnt just there

49:16 i'd say that the fall of xbox actually started with the kinect, then the one came out and their big push was "this is an always online, multimedia device" that would later be revealed to delete your games if you disconnected from wifi. Then they became laughingstocks with the xbox one SAD
to the halo topic. i think a rebrand like that can work, making an emotionless killing machine more emotional is what santa monica studios did with kratos in god of war and they were some of the best games ever
I love how Jackson manage to be wrong about Yu gi oh on multiple levels at one, GX is not a format it's an anime, and it's the only show that actually share the same summoning mechanics with the original one.
I used to watch Family Guy but I dropped it when the episodes started grating on me and the gags became too much. American Dad gets more enjoyment from me, though, I like Roger and Klaus more. Plus they’re not as mean spirited as it seems like on Family Guy (at least not as overt.) And I don’t want Xbox to disappear, because we all know when they do, Sony is gonna get worse. We need competition and while people might want the idea of Microsoft going full-party completely, remember, Sony is watching. You think they weren’t interested in an always-online console back when Microsoft floundered Xbone?
They don't get the south park manatee reference because those episodes are banned on most platforms. The 200 episode is ridiculously funny as a 2 part but because it centers around Muhammad the prophet it's super blacklisted now.
You are mixing them up. The episodes where they make fun of Family Guy are called 'Cartoon Wars' from Season 10 and they were not banned. '200' and '201' from Season 14 were the banned ones.
Bro I'm not gonna lie when Jackson asked if there was a show that made you kheel over and laugh and I immediately said boondocks and when he said boondocks I actually cheered with joy🤣☺️
I still don't understand this narrative that "incredibly talented developers" are being let go. Like in what field? In making good games? Who knows? In making profitable games? Probably not. I'm not saying that is best for the gaming industry, in regards to the quality of games, but weighing corporate decisions as attempted suicide is super shortsighted.
Nobody seems to also realize that the developers are being absorbed into the companies that were producing their games. Hi Fi Rush was produced by Bethesda. The many separate studios model doesn't work to create profitable business. It only works when it is one bigger company. That way they can put out a higher volume of games and the flops become tax write offs rather than Studio Enders because they are big enough to absorb the hit. This is how the economy works...and people just can't seem to grasp it.
I still love you guys but I think saying that the only reason why people buy consoles is to play exclusive games is a little bit single-minded I bought a gaming console because it's the only thing under $300 that could play a AAA game at 60fps
That and people don't have time to go through investing a PC. I have one and I remembered spending 4-5 hours getting it setup. PC owners need to be honest to themselves about why people own different platforms. UA-camrs are guilty as heck about it too. The minute they have the money to buy the things they want they forget that not everyone can afford the things they can.
Egypt and the Middle East have a hardcore unhinged celebrity culture like you think we worship celebrities in the US but it’s nothing compared to how they do in the Middle East like the most cringe ironic celebrity worship you can imagine doing here is normal there
To push back a bit on the Xbox hate, one amazing thing they do have that other platforms don’t is game pass. I have gotten to play soooooo many games that are still $40-$60 that I never would have purchased and played if it wasn’t for gamepass.

Bronies aren't going anywhere unfortunately.
What fucked up Halo infinite mostly was covid and the fact that there wasnt a dedicated team of devs to work on the Blam engine. From what I remember, they hired temps or interns to work on this old, obscure engine that Bungie created back in the day do the devs spent half their time learning how to use the engine and then hoped they work hard enough to secure a a full time position only to be washed out and repeat.

On the subject of animation… The Venture Bros is one of my favorites of all time!!! It did a lot of what Rick and Morty is doing but in a style I personally appreciate more… it’s a deconstruction of cartoons from the 60s and throws in all sorts of different references.
The rise of commander being the primary game type is what made me finally stop playing Magic altogether. I started in Revised and to me Magic is a much smaller, more intimate, far less complicated thing. I can't deal with modern Magic when there's anywhere from a dozen to infinity effects going off every turn. Let's just battle our grizzly bears and tundra wolves together.
One thing ive noticed and ive been told is unlike older years where a good single player shooter was just being a badass guy that takes down demons or aliens nowadays where coop or multiplayer is the main seller. Indie games and small single player games are nice because they can add new mechanics or systems we aren’t fully used to but when a big company tries to add on to a hit series or franchise with their twist of reinventing the wheel it doesnt come out as expected and flops horribly
Long story short they should wrap up the long dead franchises and make a new hit series like halo, mario, and doom did but focus on the quality rather the paycheck it receives. They would receive a much better reward for putting in the effort and love they once used to
Indie games are absolutely killing it currently. V Rising just released as 1.0 and it's fucking incredible. Enshrouded has been another highlight of the year. Hades II in EA is already better polished than basically any AAA release.

And in a somewhat controversial move, the creators tried to market Gen 5 as a sequel series to Friendship is Magic, taking place in the same world, but thousands of years later, but they ignore or retcon of world building and lore, which angered many fans.
Boondocks hype, an oldie but a goodie, gotta love Uncle Ruckus
Charlie enjoying something? Must be aliens
Took Kaya 25 minutes to say anything, and it was to criticze Jackson's use of the word "friend" when referring to someone from his own personal childhood
Kaya is the reason I don't watch this podcast anymore, Red Thread is just far better content.
Looking forward to the day when he leaves/gets fired/his stash of "CP" is found to show his always bringing it up out of nowhere is projecting.
His attitude and personality genuinely makes the content worse.
Andrew said he be bringing some hollers this week. Better own up to it.
Kaya didn’t say a word, pissed.
Perfect
Can we talk about how insane these thumbnails look😂
Bro is andrew a homosexual? Charlie ripped him his entire life about magic and now dude likes it? Get him bro😂
He’s bisexual
i swear in every episode of any podcast, jackson either breaks or spills something😂
Andrew proving, once again, to be the most cultured person on the Pod. Magic, South Park, Rick & Morty ride or die, and The Boondocks. Then having amazing takes on Halo, Fallout 3 vs FNV, etc. Great stuff
I love all those things but Andrew is the most annoying when it comes to takes. He almost never accepts being wrong. And plays devil's advocate on the most annoying way every time.
charlie needs to rewatch old family guy. the cutaways absolutely land
Jackson I am on your side. The early Family Guy seasons were actually really good. I still enjoy them. Also Jackson you did win the achievement contest #JacksonWins #CharliesAPussy
I would love a Boondocks moist meeter.
One of the best bungie quotes about Halo was “we dont want you to just run in a room, shoot a bunch of guys and run into another room. We want the enemies to feel like they were doing something besides just waiting on you to walk in” you had sleeping grunts or brutes taking a leak. Unless it was fitting, the enemy wasnt just there
Best thumbnail in Official Podcast history
When i started the official podcast i thought they were kinda mean to Jackson but as it goes on i get it lmao
Jackon's keyboard is on a two tea streak 😢
11:30
actually, the in universe thing where yugi pulls out the cards he needs is actually confirmed in series, the heart of the cards shit is literally the pharaoh manipulating fate. he admits it to yugi and even uses it against him in the final episode and summons all the god cards on him during their final duel. dudes a fucking cheater.
49:16 i'd say that the fall of xbox actually started with the kinect, then the one came out and their big push was "this is an always online, multimedia device" that would later be revealed to delete your games if you disconnected from wifi. Then they became laughingstocks with the xbox one SAD
Speaking of good animation shows, I can not recommend Archer enough. Writing in early seasons is gold.
South Park and the boondocks are genuinely hilarious
23:39 talking about me lol😊
Why doesn’t Jackson get a thermos or a cup with a lid?
Who is the guy they are talking about?
to the halo topic. i think a rebrand like that can work, making an emotionless killing machine more emotional is what santa monica studios did with kratos in god of war and they were some of the best games ever
Plus they’re not as mean spirited as it seems like on Family Guy (at least not as overt.)
And I don’t want Xbox to disappear, because we all know when they do, Sony is gonna get worse. We need competition and while people might want the idea of Microsoft going full-party completely, remember, Sony is watching. You think they weren’t interested in an always-online console back when Microsoft floundered Xbone?
Boondocks is the funniest cartoon ever it's a must watch 💯
The sad Downfall of Xbox
THE BOONDOCKS GOES SO HARD 🔥🔥🔥🔥
I still love you guys but I think saying that the only reason why people buy consoles is to play exclusive games is a little bit single-minded I bought a gaming console because it's the only thing under $300 that could play a AAA game at 60fps
That and people don't have time to go through investing a PC. I have one and I remembered spending 4-5 hours getting it setup. PC owners need to be honest to themselves about why people own different platforms. UA-camrs are guilty as heck about it too. The minute they have the money to buy the things they want they forget that not everyone can afford the things they can.
Egypt and the Middle East have a hardcore unhinged celebrity culture like you think we worship celebrities in the US but it’s nothing compared to how they do in the Middle East like the most cringe ironic celebrity worship you can imagine doing here is normal there
Is it similar to asian celebrity worship?
Jackson put 100%-ing AC games perfectly. I too put on a brave face and complain to my friends while I’m doing it, but secretly love it.
Basically they're talking about smash bandicoot.
And the one jackson got blurred for saying was cartoonshi.
he needs to be in an Egyptian mental hospital
21:53 just calling it how I see it. Wouldn’t the cut away be family guys version of the portal gun.? Just something to let them do whatever they want?
Jackson, can you talk about the yasuke situation in assassin creed shadows?
To push back a bit on the Xbox hate, one amazing thing they do have that other platforms don’t is game pass. I have gotten to play soooooo many games that are still $40-$60 that I never would have purchased and played if it wasn’t for gamepass.
the universe with a 100% ac shadows race would be so
f/ucking fire
22:16 - so glad to hear someone mention the boondocks, even though I didn't discover it until years later. Incredible show.
Thumbnail goes hard
The Japanese sure don't seem to like assassin's creed shadows. That dislike ratio on the Japanese trailer is insane.
The dislike ratio is not region lock. That’s still America getting offended on behalf of Japan.
And japanese folks having to tell them they don't need white knights getting flustered on their behalf. Watched some hilarious tiktoks last night of a white dude trying to literally tell a Japanese woman inaccurate details historically speaking and she was showing how massively uninformed he was.
@@anthonyrygalski6424 I saw a black guy saying that Yasuke wasn’t a samurai, meanwhile a Japanese woman in another said that Yasuke was a samurai. Why are we here acting like we know more than the culture itself?
Jackson has spilt tea in like 3 of the last videos (including The Red Thread). Idk what this info means, but just wanted to say that lol
Man, I was hoping they were gonna talk about the new GPT-4o, considering how Kaya and Charlie are always bringing AI up whenever there's a new breakthrough.
What are they supposed to say they havent already said
Boondocks is one of the best shows ever ever made
Consoles are 100% NOT dying 💀 yes PC gas better graphics and running capabilities. But as an avid gamer, nothing will ever beat just laying down on a couch on in your bed with a controller. It just feels so much better than being hunched over in a chair on a desk
They're UA-camrs who own really good PCs and treat gaming as a side job at least most of them in this cast. One thing I never understood is how UA-camrs can't seem to grasp why people are comfortable with their platforms.
@JesseWhiteman117 true. When you can spend $6000 on a PC naturally its going to give you a better experience
Cope
Believe it or not, a lot of the same guys are still involved with the central brony Fandom. These guys are mostly married and doing other stuff now, but are somehow there is still a tight group talking about both shows. Gen 5 has good content, and really mid content, and is still going. Bronies aren't going anywhere unfortunately.
Bronies are gross and alot are pedophiles. Any grown aldut man that obsesses over showes like that is fucking gross
another episode of jackson being shit on for what he likes
What fucked up Halo infinite mostly was covid and the fact that there wasnt a dedicated team of devs to work on the Blam engine. From what I remember, they hired temps or interns to work on this old, obscure engine that Bungie created back in the day do the devs spent half their time learning how to use the engine and then hoped they work hard enough to secure a a full time position only to be washed out and repeat.
Those mfs who always comment "my farts smell better than ________" or "my videos are better than ________" are definitely the same guy gotta be
I never liked xbox except for the first one a little bit, always loved PlayStation though but it is very sad how xbox has been completely ran through and then thrown in a dumpster fire by mike row soft
1:01:05 - there are a number of actual legit issues with horizon forbidden West but asset flipping is not one of them.
Yes!!! Something to listen too at school cause finals are over and we are just sitting here for another week
Good job with finals man
nicely done brotha
55:33 dude just has an epiphany, lol. Repeats the same thing Charlie said and repats himself saying a bunch of nothing
This stalker sounds like he has some sort of split personality disorder or borderline personality disorder with bipolar. I'm not a psychologist but damn he needs help, and probably needs to be studied too; that might've been mean but he is definitely an interesting person.
Xbox has died since the xbox one was presented.
Critical has wayyy too many levels in RuneScape to give Jackson a hard time for investing so long into mind numbing tasks in games
Jackson keeps spilling tea on his desk, WoWHobbs would be proud
28:30 oh shit they’re talking about me! I’m famous!
Really??
There is such a lack of knowledge here. Halo 4 teams weren't brand new. A lot of people from Bungie stayed behind.
'Merican Dad > Fam Guy
They would receive a much better reward for putting in the effort and love they once used to
Xbox One is where everything went downhill. The person in charge at the time was a moron.
Indie games are absolutely killing it currently. V Rising just released as 1.0 and it's fucking incredible. Enshrouded has been another highlight of the year. Hades II in EA is already better polished than basically any AAA release.
I do not know how Jackson enjoys assassin's creed but more power to him.
I now want the Command Zone and Charlie Game Knights episode
The exact moment they said the deranged guy is from Egypt, I knew damn well who he was
South Park is by far the best throughout the years, Randy being the star in my eyes.
American Dad is my favorite out of the other lineup.
