Hi Brent, love every vedio you put out, also used to custom body work,I'm to old now! Any don't ever change your style and your way you always look like your having fun.Im one who totally injoy your work, your videos make my day.thank you jesse.
I like this channel because you show the work in process, and just not cut the camera and come back after it is done. I like the fenders.
Yea, I agree, to many videos out there where they say what they’re going to do than the next frame and it’s done. I’d rather watch how it’s done rather than comparing before and after pictures of what they’re working on. There are so many tips you can learn from watching that a lot of people take for granted and don’t think about telling us about the little tricks they’ve learned. You’ve reminded me to go hit the thumbs up because Brent shows how to do it, good, bad, or ugly, he shows it all so you know what’s involved.
Definitely
Another day, another step closer....fenders and bumper looking mint!!😎👍
Hello Brent, I like your videos in the evening. Genau die richtige Unterhaltung zur Entspannung. Be well and best reagards to You. Ray from Germany.
It's so bright in there now omg! I love it, the shop rocks, it's all coming together. I am happy for you guys.
I love your channel……. You do great work….mike from Florida…..♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️👏👏👏👏👏👏
Hey Brent, Great job! Bodywork is a painful but necessary evil that you are actually quite good at despite your disclaimers to the contrary! Re: Bondo consumption; you have a kindred spirit in Nova Scotia ole Bad Chad lays that stuff down like there's no tomorrow! Cheers!
Love Bad Chad also, he does things differently from others. 👍🏼
Fenders and. Bumper. Look great. In primer. Thanks
You give me inspiration to not be afraid tackling a project.
Haven’t seen Esther lately, say hi to her.
Like, share and give more doggie treats.
Another day in life of a bodyman, lol lol, dust an feel..lookin good Brett
Looking great Brent. Enjoyed the video. God bless
You are amazing. What you do solo is unbelievable
Admire your work ethic, one step closer for sure 👍🏻
im '75 and i'v noticed how much you use the 'big wheel for cutting your 'mud .. this is a common practice for more experienced body-men , cuts the mud quick and keeps it flatter .. i'v used this method for many many yrs .. most new guys can't seem to get good results .. outstanding work going on , and i really enjoy your vids , thanks , steve .. eh
Thank you so much for another fantastic video , you have the rear fenders done and dusted and also the rear bumper mudded and blown in . ou set a doable goal and completed the task in good order . Till your next video , take care , God Bless , say Hi to Esther and the two four footed garage sentinels from me , Stuart in Ontario ..
Your getting there , love the process ..
If you want to see a Hot Mess of a garage I can send you pictures Brent!😩
Yes Sir!!!
Great background music!!🇦🇺😊
It's always nice to see the pieces/parts you've been working/patching/fabricating all in one color. It kind of get you to the next level of the build progress. That's my thought process anyway. Thanks again Brent for another great video update.
PABLO said that fender gave the boss the business but i knew he would fix it / i wish he could have a vacuum system that could suck up all that sanding cant wait to say LETS RIDE
Minty !
Thank You for sharing your video, and letting us hang out .
Later ...
Hello Brett The finished product goal line keeps you going if you do not like the fiberglass & bonds work. It is lookingin good. Pablo says, that is enough dust for today dad lets go for some food.
Man that laser really cut down on the dust in the shop.
Always makes me want to a better job when I do my own body work. Enjoy watching and I learn with each and every one of your videos Brent. You have the eye of an artist and ability to explain how you do it. and I learn
Hey Bent! Looking better and better. Look forward to seeing it done. Great job!!😀😀
I need to wear a respirator while watching you sand those fenders! It makes me sneeze! Pablo is so excited to go home at the end.
Setting goals is good
Nice work Brent 👍
Getting closer!
You have definitely bounced back from the fire quickly. These fenders are amazing.
Schmeer is now a word I use on a regular basis….ll especially when I put butter or jam on my toast, or when I complain about how bad the traffic was… I had to “Schmeer” through the mess…😁. The fenders and bumper look fantastic.
Hey Brent, try smooshing the sandpaper disc on your shirt first, picks up lint and dust then put on your sander. Way easier to come off after!
Progress is Progress and it's looking good
Piece by piece...youre gonna get it..lookin like a good effort...should maybe partition when sanding -- even an exhaust hood etc...?
Carry on..!
You know getting used to seeing those wheels on the P cup the fenders look great the GMC is looking good...
Fenderz, benderz, bumperz, fiberglasserz, sanderz, primerz, pupdawgerz.
Vai ficar show quando estiver tudo pronta,👏👏👏👏👏
Brent an awesome video. Got a whole lot accomplished in this one. Thank you for sharing!
❤️💯👊👍
Greetings Mr Brent, I know it's a lot of work, but you are going to have the coolest Roadster Pick-up ever. Nice job sir 👌. Stay safe my friend. 👍👍👍
Nice!
My longhair fiberglass I like but I can't ever mix it without the clumps in it until I get it laid out...obviously I don't do much bodywork though
Fenders and bumper looking good Brent! What fiber-glass product do you use? Thanks
Awesome as Always.. Really cool content How about Teaching Esther to spray the Primer ??
Those parts look great, Brent, but what about the inside? The bumper looks quite rusty, don't you think? and the rear inner wings, too. Sorry, American friends, fenders. What will you do about them?
What about the underneath of the car and all four inner wings? Sugar, I did it again, fenders. Will you coat everything with a salt proof underseal?
In my day, 1976, I couldn't afford the proper underseal stuff. A mechanic friend of mine suggested I use a roofing sealant used on flat roofing.
It was very popular back then for the home DIY mechanic wanting to get their vehicles through the next MOT. They would weld up holes or cover them up with whatever metal they could get their hands on, then coat the underside with Bitumen. No MOT inspector would try scraping that stuff off. It would take weeks.😂
I decided on the cheapest Bitumen roof sealant I could afford, which, as it happens, is a good home DIY solution. That's what I used on my very first car. A 1961 Morris Minor Convertable.
I sold the car to a friend for £15 who still has it to this day. Had I known at the time how valuable they would be, I would have kept it. Instead, I used the money to buy my next MOT failure. A 1967 Ford Cortina.
I made a mint when I sold it in 2003 because they were highly collectable by that time. The same cheap bitumen, was still looking good all those years later when I checked it over for the last time.
Sadley, in 2009 it was in an RTA that killed a young girl. The owner called me up to take the car off of his hands. He didn't want any money or for it to be repaired or to even drive the car again.
I took the engine and gearbox out, dashboard, and a few other small things that were hard to come by that were still in good condition and then sold it to the scrap yard. I got £30 for it. Still, I made money, but I was doing it the wrong way.
Anyway, the point I'm trying to make is. Even though I painted on a full coat of the stuff on the Morris Minor with a 2" brush, then a second, just to fill the bits i missed. It lasted until 5 years ago when my friend decided to strip and restore the car back to its original factory state.
Had he not used a hot air gun and striped the bitumen off with a paint scraper, who knows how many more years it would have lasted.
So stop wasting time reading comments, Brent, get back to work. I want to see this vehicle of yours on the road quicker than you can say, Halfass Kustoms. Now get to it.🤭
Thanks for reading, I'llll seeee youuuu later. 😂⚒️🏴
I can picture this awesome color on your truck
1. same neon Green on truck
2, Black color on all fenders, those side steps, and the bumper (maybe the grill too)
3. on the back of the bed where the "pipe" frames are = color white trim
4. THEN your logo "HalfAss Custom" on the side doors
I hope you like the idea I mentioned HK 🙂💗
Vacuum Brent, you’ll be surprised, blowing will just be a pain in the A
Lol💚🇬🇧🌱 if you're a fella that leaves this stuff overnight, you'll hate life😂🤣😂 too true... I'm the same with filler, hit it hard once & sand 90% on to the floor...
Does Ester ever complain about all the Dust? And I was holding my breath while you painted the fenders, kept hoping you wouldn't back into one while painting the other.
Yo half-ass 😘lol 😅 but seriously Hi from the D Mi hey My old phone somehow deleted all my utub channels 😮😂 now I have a new phone and finally I'm getting my favorite channels back 🎉❤ hey Br😢ent and Ester is great to see you again 🤩🌟🌟😊
chop original top and make it removable ,PLEASE
LIKE 1K ! That is certainly a handy lift/workbench.
nice job Brent, i'm sure no one likes doing this messy work, but it has to be done, even the halfass way... another step forward 👍🍺🍺🍺🍺
Brent, Brent oh Brent , that there English wheel is a French wheel. Your are suppose to drive it from the left Karl's hammer! is it any good for my wife's wrinkles. Good job she is in China for 5 weeks, otherwise you'd be using that English wheel and hammer to straighten me out. Things are really looking so good. Have to ask! or is it on the shelf? colours/colours. Looking forward to the next one. stay safe and enjoy. (Ireland)
Aloha! Safe travels to Texas!! She's looking good Brent
Watched you on the big screen and Like/comment from my iPhone 😂. Its looking good and I am anticipating the roof work which I have not been sure how you will approach it. Now I heard you say about the same lol. That means it’s going to be interesting.
Coming on strong, the light is visible at the end of the tunnel
Whenever you see light at the end of a tunnel, look down to check for tracks.
Thought you were a big car/hot rodder.. bodywork is part of it. Didn't once see a sanding block.
Just spray bedliner on it and be done with it. Geezz
Maybe modify the English wheel by adding a forklift track, if you have one to spare?
If you can do the previous, there may be a need to add a platform? ;-)
Hey Brent, i just picked up a 66 chevy nova, needs work, sanded the surface rust off the body and primed it yesterday 😀 your video gave me a few ways to make it easier...enjoyed the video....Ralph
I spray my e wheels with dw-40 to keep rust at bay. I remember Karl saying to use one die size flatter than actual crown.
Another fender in the book.
Roof will be interesting. The mesh screen 1/4 hole size to make the form and go at it with fiberglass.
Brent, would you consider painting the fenders and running boards gloss black?
Coming along nicely Brent, who’s going to paint it? And are you really going with that bright green?thanks John from Arizona
Cool stuff. Enjoyed watching ✌️ 😎
I CAN DEAL WITH AN HALFASS HOWEVER I DON'T DEAL WITH LAZY .....👌👌👌👌✌✌✌✌
Looks awesome. Tonneau cover I would wood slate it with steel pins in a U - channel using a heavy cloth backing.
In Australia some builders use inflatable spray booths with extractors to keep dust out of sheds . . . bondo dust just builds up and never completely goes away
A really big job with the english wheel ! And pretty difficult when you're alone with a big piece of metal as this fender. And you 've got so strange and interesting tools (A pneumatic hammer ?)
Fix it! It’s lasted this long, might as well keep it around for an another couple of decades.
Hey Brent, that someone screaming at you would be Karl, lol. Every time Iook at those huge rear fenders I keep thinking about motorcycle panniers. What if you made some sort of storage in the huge voids? Well your tray has the roof so you may need something else.Just a brain fart from an old fart. G’day Esther.
I really don't know why, cause body work is kinda boring, minus your english wheel work, but I still enjoy watching you making progress. Love this build and believe this could be one of your best. As always looking forward to your next video. I appreciate you.
You make spreading that filler look so easy. The fenders and bumper look great!!
That truck coming along nicely, cant wait to see more of the awesmoeniss rides that comes out your head, and new shop, I can see the pistons pumping & wheels turning in you head. God bless, HAG crazy grease
What's the 3rd ingredient you are adding to your Bondo. Looks like resin? Never heard of using anything except base and hardener.
I know you’re not usually super particular over your paint jobs, example the general. Don’t you think you need a paint booth or one you can set up temporarily when you paint maybe block off that door/bay have it where you can close it off when you need it or just a thought.
What is the liquid you mix in with your bondo? Could you do a quick video on the types of filler you use and why? Most of us are only familiar with the light green product you use.
As you said start on the roof. I had a idea. Make a clear perspex roof. Bad chad makes them. Maybe yours is two part. . But would look cool.
No way you can make the roof hinge over backwards into the bed? Ah, it might be too wide…sorry😊
I know about the dust I have a attached garage . I was doing body work in it... big mistake my wife was pissed
Great vlog Brent and super progress. Looking good but hard work to get it there. Stay on it and stay well.
When Michael Angelo carved a statue there also was a lot of debris on the ground. Without the material on the car to sand of you can't shape anything. It's not wasting. It's the only way to get er done. Looking good.
You eat a elephant one bite at a time. For the top I laid fiberglass cloth over mine and just brushed resin over it. Made it a Carson top. Enjoy
Have you considered getting an inflatable paint booth?
Great video. The end product looks great despite all the yucky work it takes to get there. Am not a bodywork fan either. Look forward to more. Be safe and stay well.
Brent I've found when you weld up seams with spot tacking and grinding them smooth. The grinding wheel rolles over the metal and moisture can seep through the back side and pop out your Bondo. So take dish soap with water and spray the seams and blow compressed air on the back side to find the tiny holes in your welds it works
Always good to prime. Tonight at my side job the Camaro I put ground effects on and molded them to the body where's there is no seams. Tonight I taped it off for primer. I can't wait to see it gray
Excellent video Brent :) also look very good and almost ready for paint in next 2 video possibly too !
Awesome job Brent. Fenders and bumper look great. Keep up the great work
One of those robotic dust picker uppers would work good on that flat floor, just let it do the work !
High speed is the only way to watch bodywork !
Working that huge fender on a english wheel looks like a real pain in the ass. Karls planishing hammer looked much easier. I totally agree with you method of sanding put mud on the whole fender and stop as soon as you hit the high spots and then next coat get the low spots sand and then ready for filler primer the whole fender than sand again and your ready for paint.
Since, Ya gotta do the cab might as well take the box completely off and tackle both at the same time. Fear not, doesn't matter to me, what yo do, as long as their progress, truck is looking good Brent its coming along just fine. cheers.
Wow you could go the extra make the bed a tilt bed. That way you could store your spare under it and you'd have easier excess
like always good show, Keep on Truckin😎👍
I'm tired of watching you.Work on that pile. So i'm letting you go brent😂
I love watching this chanel your very clever alot of knowledge. love when u work with your son reminds me when I worked on cars with my dad
Like polishing a turd 😂😂 but if was easy anybody could do it 😎
I have wondered if you used self etching primer first it would seal the metal then apply the filler it should adhere to the primer I think it would last longer
I see very little difference in bondo and primer... one you spray and the other is just laid on and then shaped to the desired shape needed. It is what we called it in the sixties and seventies. I watched Kyle from carter auto restorations do some tig welding using bits of stainless in the filler rod so no ghosting appears. He calls it ghosting, others just say its turning blue or a shade of it when welding. Using the same material in filler took away that issue... great times ahead... nice place to work and the door is open a bit to get fresh air in
Doesn't the old mud on the fenders get in the way and prevent the panels from flattening out when using the wheel?
I know you are known as Halfass customs, but do the brace on the other fender. They were put there for a reason. This way later on you will not have to say, I should of.
Watching the condo go on Is fascinating to me. Fenders look great. 👍👍
