Who is Garden State Tortoise? 🧐
However you made it here, thank you and welcome to Garden State Tortoise. Garden State Tortoise is home to hundreds of animals from all around the world. We are a family dedicated to adventure, conservation of wildlife, and all things nature. We are a reptile rescue and breeding facility for more than ten years, offering refuge to those who need it, and working everyday to protect the beautiful world of reptiles in any way we can. Here on our UA-cam channel you will be able to join us on our animal adventures while learning how to care for, protect, properly identify, feed and even breed many species of turtle, tortoise, snake and lizard. This made me cry. It hurt me so much. It was hard enough to see her the way she came in. 😢 I'm glad she got to experience life as it should have been before she took her final sleep.
I refused to purchase turtles and tortoises when I was working at a pet store. I refused to sell them at my store because I had seen too many horrors and no one wanted to put in the work to truly care for them properly. I adopted 2 Russians because they were in horrible condition, unwanted and unloved. It broke my soul. They now have a giant yard... one is still young and it can be hard to find her. She blends well and is a digger! I no longer work at the pet store, but I hope management doesn't start selling them. Just not enough ppl with the land, time and money. Sadly. Because they are beautiful angels.

Bubbles lived a lifetime of happiness in these last few months with you all. Who wouldn't like to enjoy the the sunshine and freedom she had. It's hard for us but harder for you. You gave her peace and unconditional love. We are grateful you shared her with us. ❤️

You may not have been able to save Bubbles but you did make her final days the most comfortable she had had in her entire life. Shame on whoever did this to her and thank you for making her final days as amazing as you could.

Your emotional attachment to each animal on your sanctuary is a real testament to your care. I've learned as I have gotten older that it hurts to lose a 4 legged friend sometimes more than a two legged one. RIP bubbles, grateful you got to experience life with Chris and Casey before you were called to the meadow by the bridge. ❤❤

The passing of Bubbles hit me harder than I thought it would. I was so emotional when you got her because of the neglect she'd suffered, and I was hoping she'd make it. I'm so thankful that she got to spend her last months at GST in the sun and was able to pass peacefully. RIP Bubbles.

Man, Chris, we are all right here with you, crying with you, grieving with you. You & Casey are SUPERHEROES, & Bubbles knew that she was one of the fortunate ones as soon as she met y'all. After a lifetime of neglect, a lifetime of missing out on love, she got to experience the absolute peak of Tortoise love & care from the greatest Turtle Sanctuary on the planet! You guys already know this, but you guys aren't alone in your grief, & I truly hope you both can feel the love & support that all of us are feeling. Tortoises in particular are such sweet, docile creatures. It really is the lowest of the low to allow such a magnificent creature to deteriorate to that point, but you guys SAVED her. She got to experience the maximum amount of happiness that many Turtles would dream of. We love you guys, & everything you guys do. ❤

A pet shop tried to railroad me into buying a Sulcata baby despite me telling them a live in a small house with inadequate space to house such a large animal. Thank goodness I already knew how big they will grow. I cannot understand why they are so desperate to sell them to places which cannot meet their needs. It’s baffling.
@@32446 It is sad isnt it? I bought a baby from a reputable source after doing my research because I was looking for a lawn mowing assistant. Only thing I would've done differently was adopt one instead.

Rip bubbles. She was fortunate to have found u in her final few months. I have had a couple of friends say they want a tortoise and I educate them, i literally advise them of the specific care needs, and while it may seem I'm trying to put them off I don't want to see any animal suffer because of people's lack of responsibility, research and ignorance. You really gave her everything that you could and I felt absolutely privileged this weekend to be able to meet you and have you share your knowledge with us. I genuinely meant it when I said thank you for even trying to help Bubbles and although the end result was not what anyone would want, her quality of life for the last few months must have been such a breath of fresh air for her this in itself is a small blessing: this tortoise passed while being loved (yes, I cried when you needed a moment on this video, your care for this animal and empathy came straight across). Again, thank you for trying.

I got a Sulcata and as it grows I am freaking out. I will do my best to give him or her the best life and will always put its interests first as I am the one responsible for her now.

😢I’m so sorry! RIP Bubbles…in the end, you were properly loved. I try to stay positive in commenting but I’m so angry. I’m so sick of people viewing non-human animals as being below human primates on the evolutionary “ladder”. Nothing is at “the top of the ladder”. It’s not a ladder, it’s more like a tree of evolutionary progress. There’s no destination of evolution by natural selection. And it’s painfully obvious, by many human primates behaviors, that even if there were a “top” position, humans wouldn’t be it. I’d LOVE to have tons of reptiles but I know I couldn’t give them the life they deserve so I DON’T HAVE THEM! It’s that simple. Ffs people, do your research before you get ANY animal. They deserve the best of care. Especially when they really belong in the wild…untouched and unbothered by human primates. I’m sorry for the angry comment. I’m just really angry. You can delete it if you want to. I just had to get this out of my system.
Bubbles got to experience a full life with you. And that's huge. I work in dog rescue myself, and sometimes the best you can give a critter is a happy day with love before the long sleep. It's hard, and it's so worthwhile. (I'm a sucker -- 2 goats, 3 dogs, 2 cats, 1 uromastyx. All rescues.)
Rest in peace Bubbles. Just think Bubbles is back to normal. His spirit will live on happily on your beautiful grounds. I just love you all. Even Otis!! 😂
RIP Bubbles- thank you for taking her in, caring for her, and giving her some amazing last days. You had me crying over here early in the morning. We take in Sulcatas as well- thank you for the PSA on them. The more people know about Sulcatas, the more they can make educated decisions on if they have the proper set up and space for them.
I am so sorry to hear of Bubbles going across the bridge. GST made a difference in her life! Be proud of that! Also, your advice for having a plan for your pets should extend to any animal. Many birds and reptiles live especially long lives and people need to be conscious and aware of that. They require special care and as you said, they can't just be cast aside when they become inconvenient.
Don't apologize for showing your sadness for how Bubbles lived beforehand. Celebrate her time with you and that she was graced with a bright sunny day to gently pass on.
I try to share your videos to educate that Turtle's/Tortoises are not a low maintenance pet!!
Oh so sorry about bubbles she had a hard life. But you gave her the most wonderful peaceful transition to heaven ❤️ she got to lay in the Sun and be happy under a bush to say goodbye. Yes I even got choked up too hun. I'm sure she's looking down on you with a smile😊 thank you for doing what you do for these wonderful 🐢. Don't worry there are more wonderful turtles out there for you to save. There are plenty of people to educate still.
