I bought this fire truck off the GSA Government Auction website, and now we are trying to bring it back to life and turn it into an amazing toy hauler.

You need to post an update even if it’s just a short! You were doing so great, I hope all is well.
No new videos coming. Is everything okay?
He is active on Facebook showing his projects. I am unsubscibing for this channel
I hope this channel is not dead. Been a while. Hope everything is ok
This channel is dead. He is on Facebook with his projects.
Father - "I'm not a smart man" ... Son - "Yeah that's true" 🤣. Thanks for the video! Really enjoying this build.
hahah yup. damn kid is a smart ass just like his old man.
you seem like a genuine nice dude, hope this thing turns into the hauler you want it to be.
Thank you so much very much Kyle.
I don't know where you went but I hope you make some more videos on the international truck I would love to have it
Good job brother ! Awesome to see you working together with the whole family , the progress of the truck but the memories involved, all Souvenirs
It's awesome to see the whole family jumping in and helping out on this project. Glad to see your son getting in there and getting his hands dirty. Congrats on everything and wishing you the best of luck from southern Indiana
Thank you so much Ben, Its really been great getting everyone involved with it. I wish you the very best holidays.
Enjoying this tear down video! The hard work will pay off!
Thank you so much Big Joe.
Won’t lie I jumped when the wrench flew off 😂
haha you and me bother man. I was expecting to come up missing a tooth.
This thing can be the ultimate tow rig! Nice work man keep it up!
It’s really good to see your son hanging out with you, good quality time together!
Thank you Carl, and times like this is what I cherish.
Looking great man. It is coming along.
Great to have helpers like Sue and Seth. Way to go!!!!
Thank you so much War Hammer. Im really loving the family involvement.
The only thing I can think of is taking the outer tire off your truck and then putting the lug nuts back in. Then put some bricks under the pedal of the two post lift and try it that way
Dude... That was such a great idea and honestly wish I would of thought of that. That being said I couldn't of did it currently. The torque specs on these lugs is 600-700 ft-lb. I have nothing that can remove them or put them back on... yet😉
@@PaperBeatsRock need to get you a 1" line and 1" tire gun. we have both for my semi. and it does the job. all harbor freight
My 1st thought. 👍
@@oregonfordguy9812 Or a torque multiplier.
@@PaperBeatsRock get a 1/2" milwaukee impact gun. It takes off highway tractor lug nuts easily. Buy a 3/4" one of you wanna be sure but we normally use the 1/2" one for 90% of the nuts.
Great work looking forward to the next one cheers
Thank you so much Rick.
love your channel hope to see you on the road I'm moving back to Roseburg and will be doing local chip hauling
It looks alot better just without the old box. Alot of work for sure...Great Video
Thank you thomas, and I agree. It looks a ton better with out the box.
I just love this truck! I wanted to wait and see what you are doing with it but I need to know!! 😂
So this was designed to pull loads of weight, whatever you do with it, it will be a beast of a truck!
This is the first step of multiple in a new business venture we are doing. We are going to be buying a bull dozer and equipment trailer to haul it around. The truck here will be the platform that will move it around. Pretty much it will be a hauler but have additional features. Im going to be making a video covering this in the next few days
find some crank up cable camper jacks like four of them
Man that’s wild! Awesome work man great video!
Thank you so much Kody.
Looking forward to seeing this rig get finished. That utility box has got to be EXTREMELY heavy!
Suggestion for the interior of the International: Buy a power window kit. There will be lots of times you want to CONVENIENTLY open the other windows, and it's a pain...... Nice feature to have.......
i really like this truck, keep it up!
Thank you so much netu.
Fantastic progress!!!
Thank you very much Tom. We are having a great time blasting away on it.
That cab would be so cool alone to fix it up and sleep in there or just relax, I love how much space is in there.
For real Willam. The cab is huge. We are going to be doing a new rear bench seat but i'm thinking of making it kind of like a futon that way it can fold down and be a bed.
@@PaperBeatsRock Get a bench seat /bed from an old full size cruising van.
Aww yaay, it's great that you saved the box! I hope your extra work is rewarded with it getting use again. 👍 I believe it is ultimately best to do stuff the right way rather than torch it off. Better thinking through and not chopping anything you need to use. Hehe I saw that dripping from the big pipe and was "I didn't see a bucket... My luck, I'd be taking a shower in a minute"... 😱
Thank you so much. We have made a deal with a local fire department and I wanted to try and keep everything as intact as possible. Lol also your so correct about the pipe.
Good luck buddy see you soon
Thank you Tommy, I'm pretty sure i'm going to be bringing some stuff down to you all soon.
AWESOME JOB GUY'S!
Thank you so much Loren.
Thumbs up Brother love the videos of this build.
2:30 I'd just run a couple pieces of tubing or I-beam between the the lifts to get the lift points I wanted. At this point, I think your bigger issue is going to be not being able to lift it high enough to clear the wheels...
Just checking didn't know why you haven't made any more videos on the I would love to have that international truck
Coolest tuck.
Really cool great job team effort.
Thank you so much Scott. I really apricate that
Great job man that was an ordeal but yall killed it.
Dude for real. It felt like it was never going to end as well. A lot of stuff ended up getting cut out that we did. I don't think they built them to come apart lol
Good Job!!!
Thank you Manfred. This has been a fun build so far regardless of the difficulty.
Well done!!!
Thank you Bruce. Its really been enjoyable even though rough parts.
Good job there Boys and greetings from Montana!
Thank you very much Larry, I have not made my way up to Montana yet but its on the trip list for when we visit Yellowstone national park next year.
I love your Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles shirt as I grew up watching the original cartoon series as I was a 90's kid. 🙂
I was the same Soundwave, and I love the user name. I'm guessing its based off transformers. I love all the 80s & 90s show. All time favorite is the original Voltron.
Okay you got me I subscribed I like your family and your dad (turkey tie) you have a nice shop congratulations on getting the box off the truck and thanks for the heads up on that headlight flashlight it looks like a real good one I'm a big fan of headlamps I don't have one like that
Thank you very much Ricki. I always enjoy it when Dad comes up and works in the shop with me. As for the flashlight. It has been a great tool. I'm really liking the size because I do have some larger lights but they are almost always getting in the way or I can't get them down into the tight areas where I need the light.
Nice work
Thank you David
Badass work man greetings from Baldwin Park Ca
Thank you very much Jonathan. SoCal love.
Great job pawn stores and garage sale are also great place for tool but we have where I live share sheds at the landfills and people clean granddad s workshop throw out tool and scored some great tools and oddball stuff
Thank you Chris. Wow share sheds at landfills is such a great idea.
Dont cut the wrenches, bend them. I have 3 secondary wrenches that ive had to bend over the years and still come in handy often.
Ive been following this project since the beginning but just subscribed the only thing i dont like is the number of commercials . I dont know how much control over that but like a person above suggested you can save that grinder by replacing the brushes ☮️🦝
Thank you Howe. I'm going to dive into checking out the grinder. I never even thought about rebuilding it. I love comments like this.
Again, great work can't wait till the next video. Just a little tip, Lefty Loosey Righty Tighty even when your upside down 😄
Haha thank you Van. I was having one of them disconnects from the brain housing group.
I'd take the outside tires off a open the space.
Remember Oregon Rides are the best !
Hell yes🤘
great job great videos
Thank you so much Tom.
Cool Ninja Turtles shirt!
What happened to this build?? Hope all is well and no problems
Crickets... LOL
By far the best part of this video is....every single time I hear Sue giggle while you are having a calamity! Ha Ha Ha Here is a question for ya....you obviously have an awesome family, but how awesome is Sue for being out there and getting it with ya eh? My wife does the same. Freaking wonder women I say. Keep it up!
DT466 is a great motor.good tow rigs
For sure man. Really good engines.
It may have been tough getting that box off, but be grateful your truck didn't spend it's life in the rust belt. 20 years of salt would have made your job exponentially worse. We in the northland would find it a treat to crawl under a truck and not have rust dropping in our eyes or having to remove all the bolts with our death wheel.
I can't even imagine the struggle that you all deal with. I know we are extremely lucky around these parts.
Thanks Auntie pull the outer wheels....
Thank you Nathan. From now on out we are going to be pulling the outer wheels.
Been waiting for this
Thank you so much Scrapyard.
Jack up truck til wheel clears arm remove bed raise lift high as possible and lower truck
bro you got it dun whatup with this hell stuff
Oh we did get it done, but just dealing with all the pumping, wiring, and trying to keep it intact was the hell part lol
Use straps and suspend to top and drive out from under when the bos is suspended
I subscribed to your channel having interest in what you was doing to the firetruck... You haven't posted anything new with the truck lately ... what's going on with it?
You check with the company that still makes those trucks for the forestry fire department to see if they'd be interested. In reusing that box again for A new forestry fire truck to help with cutting back some consumers cost just A new paint job& hardware replacement.& Upgraded up to date is all it needs to be done on that one. Looks like to me is all. I would anyways as A donation to them for helping y'all out with your project to. I'd call them to see if they'd be interested in reusing.,or salvaging that box to put it back in use for the purpose witch it was designed.& Made for to.
I have a local fire department that bought a similar truck a few years back and we made a deal for all the fire equipment that is coming off it. Its good to know that parts of it will go back into service.
For the rat stink, go to a local PetSmar or Petco and get a couple spray bottles of Nature's Miracle. It's a pet urine deodorant and is fairly cheap. Thanks for the video. Jon
Thank you so much Jon. I will go check it out.
you might've gone over what kind of box / bed you're going to make for it or buy. but it'd be cool if you got in touch with the guys at Western Hauler see what your options are, they've done alot of REALLY nice truck beds for medium duty trucks and the like.. it'd look sweet especially with a repaint or new color on the cab or have them same color as the new bed. i'm kind of digging the Aqua blue color/ seafoam green.
Thank you Justn. I use to own a Western Hauler. it was a 2001 F550. Pretty nice truck. We are going to do a custom flatbed with this one but it will pull ideas from the western hauler
That thing is gonna be awesome with a flat bed on it !
I agree Jeff. I put a tap on the frame rails and from the back of the cab its only 8'7". Thats pretty short. I know I could lengthen it if I wanted to but I'm thinking ill keep it at the length that its at.
Yeah I like it the length it is you could a 9ft bed , incorporate a goose neck ball and a traditional trailer hitch setup out back . Can’t wait to see you progress!
Man I woulda' got out the wrench with the green and red hoses attached to it lol
haha I got that wrench but I am doing a deal with a fire department for the fire equipment and I'm trying to keep as intact as possible.
@@PaperBeatsRock Yeah I commented that right about the time you showed it was a spring mount.. hindsight is always 20/20 lol, right on dude keep up the good work 👍✊
C'mon dude its been 6 months with no update.
You need to accumulate an assortment. Of various lengths of cribbing pieces of wood anyway. Just watch it and store it neatly in in your shop.
Tony, your very correct. I have some but its pretty basic and I do need a larger amount.
Keep the bucket seat, it can double as a Porta potty!
haha yup
If that pump is good you could sell it. VFDs are always looking for this kind of stuff to help. so if you plan on selling it try not to damage the pump or accessories.
We got a deal going with one of the local fire departments that is going to take all the fire related stuff that was on the truck. Its good to know that it will be used again.
@@PaperBeatsRock Awesome. Thank you for considering your Fire Department. They, i am sure are always in need!
My father fixes the us forest services trucks That the box was a horrible and I mean horrible mistake the way they are built is crazy because it helps hold down the weight
I see you haven't mastered the HEUI oil/fuel system yet..Lol..There's a certain order to go about checking it so you're not chasing your tail..Worst case is it needs O rings on the injectors..Probably the pressure sensor..Neither is a big ordeal..Its a cool truck for sure..Salvage yards want $3500 just for the crew cab..That's a good year..when you get acquainted with the fuel system..it'll be as reliable as the 6bt
The Dana 80 or AAM axles fit good under a small car.
Great work. Excited for future videos.
Thank you so much Dan.
WERE DID THIS CHANNEL GO COME BACK! POST MORE
Just a reminder to do the diff fluid. My truck came from auction and the previous owner didn't, 2k later I have a new carrier and gears.
Jackson thank you very much for pointing that out. We are going to be going through everything and checking it out. I would rather have the peace of mind then just roll the dice.
Getting metal in the eye really sucks..
😎
Welp. don't forget to plan out your sleeper driver even before your bed gets put on I would be deciding where you want to put your external saddle tank and your APU before you put the bed on.
Thank you Dave, and I have been thinking about this a lot, and there is several ideas I have but not sure if they will work out or not. I'm going to need to bring them up in the next video and get your guys intake on them.
Maybe shoot for one of those rear seats out of a conversation van that folds out into a bed ?
Or maybe look for ideas from those vanlife builder videos on here ?
Normaly when we did these dismounts truck was placed on jack stands and every thing from the cab back was removed, tires ,drive line and exshaust included to allow room to work. These sobs are build like a brick sheet house and over built Makes you want to buy more of these fine trucks and do more truck builds ;)
Then just lightly grease those bearing sleeves.,or bearings weather their ball bearings.,or roller encaged bearings either one.
I'm going to check into doing this John. Thank you so much.
You don't work with tools alot do you. Lol 😆😂😆😂 But none the less good job on getting it done.
I'm no professional. I strictly a hobbits that is trying to make things happen, but yes you are correct.
@@PaperBeatsRock that's the best part. Can't wait for the next video.
Go get a 1 inch air gun from the frieght take those tires right off
Great video Adam. Does that box have any sales value? Seems like you guys have a lot of private wild land firefighting outfits in that part of the state. Somebody may have a crashed box and a good cab to put one on.
We have a local fire department that we made a deal with. They had bought the same kind of truck a a while back but some components on there truck is broken. They are going to be taking all the fire equipment off this truck.
Very generous of you Adam. Happy to hear it will get used.
They ran out of those olights
Really. I'm sure they will have a resupply soon. They really are a good product.
Outfuckingstanding work
🤘 hell yes brother. Thank you.
1:51 looks like you might not have enough clearance when you lift the box ..rear wheels may have to be removed and truck pulled out on rear dollies ..i could be wrong
That even looked hard.
And this is only about 10% of the footage. It really was a Nightmare, but very rewarding getting it done.
Y'all made me tired just watching. Kind of reminded me of pulling an engine out of an F4 Phantom. Real tight.
I can't imagine the amount of service and maintenance you aviation structural mechanics do. The amount of work need to be done to just keep birds in the air is unreal.
It has replaceable carbon brushes inside of that bench grinder.
Yeah I never even thought of that. I'm going to replace them for sure now.
Hey how do you know I use my phone light?? 🤣 I do it every time and every time I almost break it or want to..
haha exactly bro. I would rather a $40 flashlight get broke than a $1,000 phone.
When is the next video coming?😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀
5 months later...
What’s going on with this project??? 👍👍🇬🇧🇬🇧
I would have pulled the outside wheels off for doing that job
Yeah Joe. I really should of. didn't even think of that until you and a few others pointed that out. Well moving forward it will be what I do.
Please after your done with the wrench go and try to exchange it say it broke on you.
I really like those utility box handles. Any chance you could get the mfg name off of it?
👍👍
Thank you BrokenfishN
What are you going to do with the unit now that you’ve taken it off the truck? I’m a first responder and I would like to set that up on a trailer with a big water tank. What’s it going to take to own it?
I tired to warn ya. lmao.
Dude, I'm a gluten for punishment.
@@PaperBeatsRock never a truer statement has been made.

🤠
Thank you Tim.
fuck yeah! looks cool
Hell yeah Garrett. It makes it a completely different truck.
@@PaperBeatsRock like a f750 but cooler lol
@@grizzly24272 for real. I have owned a few of the F650s and F750s. I do like the 7.2 cat. They are solid engines as well.
@@PaperBeatsRock i wish I could work on rigs like this lol when I use to work for the forestry in Northern Idaho I rode around in a few of those rigs and loved it
@@grizzly24272 Right on man. I never worked for USFS, but I did work for several local fire departments, Oregon Department of Forestry, and then I did private contract for a few years before joining the Navy. I really loved fighting fire.
