With each passing day, Doug looks and sounds more and more like Clint Eastwood!
@Doug : could you please read this line - MAKE MY DAY ?
Hahahhahahahahah True!
Whoever did the tone/amp settings and mic setup on this one deserves a raise; one of the best rectifier sounds I have ever heard
Then you clearly haven't seen the video Ola Englund made about the Badlander. He makes it sound *a lot* better than they did here.
@@artificialinsolence3182 I've been subscirbed to Ola for about 10 years now, I have seen it but preferred this tone. I liked his as well, but this was closer to my taste
Oh wow you are right , ola englund made it sound like a beast. Theres more than just putting the mic in the center of the speaker. Ola is getting a tight bottom end that i dont hear on this one. Nice review though
Agreed
Honestly, I prefer this, Ola has his typical sound, but this sounds better to me
Okay I wonder how many other people feel like this amp was made for them. Thank you Mesa, this is excellent!
Lol all of us. Fingers crossed. Pittbull says mine ships in 3 LONG weeks.
@@Rooster7six Speak yourself. I prefer the tone and features of the Reborns.
Lol everyone !!
Literally put in an order today. CANNOT WAIT.
@@Rooster7six pittbull 💚 is my 2nd pick after sweetwater and that says it all.
This right here. This is the Mesa amp we've been wanting for awhile. Excellent form factor, stripped down for modern rock. You get the Recto heavy sound without the need of an overdrive pedal out in front. This greatly simplifies routing for live use. More of this, Mesa!
Yeah thats true you don't need a booster pedal in front of this one but by all means use one anyways 😄
Have the Badlander 100. Call me crazy but I still boost the shit out of it. It takes a badass amp.....badasserrer
You guys build your amps so well that im still addicted to my 2004 Mesa Single Rectifier 50 watt Solo Head & Recto 2x12 cab. But, im loving the way these new Recto Badlanders sound! Keep up the great work!
I recently bought the Badlander but didn't want my beloved Series 2 Solo 50 to feel left out, so I run them in stereo. I will never get rid of my Solo 50.
@@inclinedtoshadows4545 that must be one hell of a sound!
Ya but you really can't get mesa tubes anymore so why buy mesa anymore.
@@SHREDTILLDEAD mesa tubes are made in Slovakia/Slovenia(u can buy em new right now) plus there's millions of used tubes out there. Last thing I'm worried about is tubes. Mesa tubes last a long time as well. Unless you're in Metallica or another huge band, you dont need to change them that often.
I preordered mine. You guys just need to hurry and start shipping these bad boys out!!!
Hey! it’s “Tone Boy” 🎸Doug West👍.......always nice to see this cat make an appearance. 🎼. Loving the sounds and features from the Badlander❤️.
Ordered today from Manchester Music Mill in Manchester NH. Can’t wait for it to arrive! Perfect compliment to my JP2C and Mark IV.
I WILL definitely get one of these! Rectifier player since 96. I have the old two channel recto. This feels like home to me
That crunch mode is so nice. Tight and articulate.
I got my preorder in for the first batch!! I can’t wait to shred on this thing \m/
Your cat can't wait to shed on it
@@kellyjackson7889 hahaha! Real talk though, I do have a dog and he sheds on everything! 🐶
Cool! Put that bad boy to good use. I have a 2004 Mesa Single Rectifier 50 watt Solo Head & Recto 2×12 cab and still love it til death. Yeah, you should be set for life with your Badlander rig!
@@roymartin500 that’s awesome man! I have played on a few dual rectifiers over the years and I own a few Mesa cabinets, but this will be the first Mesa amp I have ever personally owned. I will be posting demos and reviews as soon as it hits my front porch! lol Christmas at my house will be loud this year. 🎄
@@ChadwBailey Cool! So you know what to expect. My experience was,in 03', the garage band I was in was picking up some steam so in order to gig properly; I needed to upgrade my Marshall 15watt mini stack to a half. I took my guitar at the time to GC and played through every amp on the floor.I noticed a bunch of used Marshalls in the used section, not a good sign. I plugged into the 04 Mesa Recto head & cab and that was it. No effects needed to get the tone i wanted. Mesa really stood out from the rest.
Dear Santa.
I've been good all year. I kept my kids free of Covid-19. Since 2020 was so crap, I think it's only fair that one of these is waiting under my christmas tree this year...
Thanks.
I'm a bass player, and use (and really love) Mesa amps and cabs. This amp makes me want to take up guitar also...
As a classic 70's style crunch lover, I actually love this amp. I could put these clean and crunch sounds to good use. First time I have loved a Rectifier.
Man this is one delicious sounding amp! I was about to order an invective but I think I'm gonna get this instead, rack version. This thing sounds so good, clean is nice and chimey and crystal clear, great tight high gain on the crush channel, that crunch though is really awesome. It's like a modernized cleaned up 800 or something. So good!
I just bought one, mainly for the clean sounds. However, this thing is insane!
That pushed clean tone gave me goosebumps, I think I may have found my next amp!
Oh yes!!! Ordered mine last Friday! Long n Mcquade told me I should get it before Christmas! Can’t wait to unleash that beast 😈
Thanks Mesa for creating the dream Rectifier 👍
Canadian! Where did you get it from? I am thinking about ordering one as well.
@@SluggerStark I’m in Ottawa Ontario I went at Long n Mcquade they have about a dozen coming in. It should be in around Christmas. $3050 after taxes and that’s the 50 watts head
@@rec99cts27 how does it sound? Will it be good for bands like Evanescence and Linkin park?
@@JNCGaming oh yes for sure! Might need an overdrive pedal to boost it just to saturate the gain but the amp is already tight ! But it definitely got some heavy tone for metal!
Only downside it’s lacking a bit of low end but still sounds amazing 👍
Sounds great! Am I the only one that hears some Marshall spongeyness? Love it
Hands down my favorite Mesa I’ve ever heard.
The Badlander amp is really amazing and that cab clone upgrade is so damn awesome. Y’all need to update the JP2C with that new cab clone technology!
Finally. For the first time in my life, I feel like I could be a Recto-ist! EL34, Multi-Watt™ Power Switch, USB and CabClone™ IR, you guys at Petaluma are kickin’ some serious butts with that one!
And I’m so happy to see the glorious return of the 100 watters tube amps this year, I was already bored of that Lunchboxes or Profiling amps. Thanks Mesa!
"Sadly" I love my wife too much to get that Badlander in a close future, but I still beat the shit out of my Triaxis rig on a regular basis : the last time I smiled at my rig was yesterday...
USB is only for loading IR files though, can't use it to record (but that'll work via the XLR output or even headphone output).
I've recently purchased the Badlander 100 and I can honestly say this is the best amplifier I own and the versatility is crazy as well. Chugs like a locomotive and does not need a boost.
I'm more into the Mark series but this thing is a step up in the Rectifier range.
Identical channels with different modes it's the way to go, all amps should be like this.
Good job guys.
Very nice demo. Fine playing .
Wow, this seems like a cool amp.
They finally added negative feedback to the power amp like every other amp out there. That’s what tightens it up. Sounds great
Adjustable - feedback would be a huge bonus
I wish this had three channels and midi
really exciting development, Doug!
Mesa kicks ass. I love my Triaxis and my Rectifier pre. Huge sounds! The lockdown haircut though.....
The Dual and Triple Rects are 30+ years old. I remember them, Traxis pre-amp, MK1 Reissue, MK4, Subway Blues, Maverkick, Blue Angel, etc.
Love these new Rectos, but my old trusty Electra Dyne still puts a smile on my face every time I plug in.
The fact that is has Cabclone IRs built into it makes this amp very versatile. By itself with a Mesa 2x12 cab it is perfect for modern metal tones and has perfect clean sound... when the middle isn't to high anyways.
Finally, a Rectifier that doesn’t need a boost!
Absolute beast. Great demo guys. One of these days I'll save up enough money to get one then I'll rock this world . Lol
Would love to have heard Doug playing
James G Robertson Same
Doug is great player.
Sounds great.
epic new amp! great video demo of it! WANT.
You should put the cabclone IR in the Triple Crown...
That’s pretty sick fellas. I am still hoping to even try like a Filmore 25..but apparently I need this too lol!
Lol still rocking the Mark V35 and it’s your fault that I’m not replacing it soon! I do like the knobs on the BADLANDER!
I'm thinking of trading my Mark 5 35 combo for the badlander. But I have to try it for my self to be sure.

It's like a rectifier that's already boosted with a fortin grind pedal.
Have you seen? The ears move to the first movement of the measure!😂 00:58 but...good sound!
Sounds good!
god damn that sounds amazing!
I miss Doug doing the demos like he did with the Mark V
It's just everything you can hope for from your amp!!! Bad ass🤟🤟🤟 MESA!!!
If I weren't a bass player hooked to his Mesa Bass Strategy 8:88, undecidedly alternating with a Titan V12, I'd immediately jump onto the Badlander.
I REALLY appreciate that the guitar the demo guy is playing appears to be a 6 point trem Highway One Strat and not some near unattainable 10 grand PRS or something like that. Of course Mesa Boogie being Mesa Boogie there is near ZERO that they do not knock out of the park. My dream amp is a Mesa Boogie that does sparkling cleans as well as it does heavy gain. Mesa's are STILL the closest to that dream I know of. Oh AND do all this in a bite sized smaller footprint 15-25W package. Not all of us have the room for a half stack etc.
Dear Mesa - I wish you’d fitted the power soak from the tc100 - the whole multi-watt thing means uneven power wear on the output tubes
That pushed clean mode is about as much gain as I use maximum haha
That is one serious tone machine
I like Mesa boogie, that’s my favorite amp,I have mark V and dual rectifier, but not enough now I think.
cant wait for the plug in!
Cool -- 70's electronics store style knobs!
AWESOME amp! 👌
I really Like the sound . 🤘
Me, dreaming: Ola Englund joining the MESA/Boogie Team and making the videos for them
MESA and Ola: STONKS
Hopefully they make a mini badlander soon!!!
Jeremy gettin' it done!!
Boogie! End of!
Mk1 Triaxis Simul395 2X2x12 Half Backs! 2 C90’s Right C90+EV12L Left! Killer!
I really enjoy this sound. Crush n🎸 it..Cool
Another amp id love to have. If i only had $3k laying around.....
If I could afford to replace my dual recto with one of these I would - all sound arguments aside, just the smaller size of it would be a massive help for touring.
THIS. IS. BADASS. Not really sure what else to say.
I want a Badlander 50 so bad!
good choice of demo players, amp settings, and sound engineer.
Great amp, Mesa! But wait, why no MIDI?
The coolest thing about this amp is that it'll make the Mark4 or EVH 50S easier to grab used.
About the mark iv....
I have one ordered. It will more than likely show up 2 days before my next gig, so not a lot of time to dial it in. Any chance you could post the amp settings for the Metal settings to give me a starting point?
Jeremy is a fuckin BADASS!!!
I wonder why Mesa didnt provide a Reverb tank to these Badlanders?? I know they’re not meant for clean so much but even a little reverb complements a good gain sound.
I bought a multi-watt and a used Trem-o-Verb in the last two months. I have pretty poor timing!
Greatest sounding amp. Ever
Great amp!
I like it better than my JP2c+
When using the cab clone to go to front of house, does the cab clone signal get any effects out into the loop as well?
I need this amp
I wish I had the cash. But this amp is badass.
Hey Mesa, when are you going to make a Mark V 25 or 35-ish that has channel 1 and 2 of the Big Mark V?
If they put the cab clone IR in the JP2C I'd have no choice but to buy it.
am I hearing it right? it sounded like you dont need a tube screamer pedal on front of it to tighthen up the tone because it sounded tight already.
Holy fuckin 80s, crunch mode😍😍😍😍
And dude, make me an album full of those crush riffs.
If you told me these tones were from a rectifier I would have never guessed. Honestly, I wouldn't have even guessed this sound was from a Mesa. Not that it's a bad thing. Just totally different. It's tighter, but it seems to be missing ferocity and character? Seems like a heavy rock/british metal amp to me.
3:38 at 1.25x speed sounds fucking badass
Try it at 3:29 at .25 hahahaha
I really hate to admit: this might be the first „Rectifier“ I consider to purchase...sound very nice and chunky...not that mushy and fizzy like all rectos I‘ve heard before
Exactly my thoughts. Add the MultiWatt Powerswitch° and the USB port with the awesome CabClone°IR, and Mesa get me definitely interested on that one! I hate the facts that we still have to pay twice the price in Europe for US products, but I know Marshalls were (are?) overpriced overseas, well, that’s a fair trade!! ;)
But EL34-based Rectifier, damn! I’m still a happy camper with my old and trustful Triaxis-VHT rig, but sometimes something tickles your mind, you know...
Same for me!
If you’ve heard mushy and fizzy rectifiers you might have heard people who don’t know how to dial in the amp.... the 3 channel rectos weren’t popular because of hype they are popular because they sound great with a mic in front of them. It’s important to read the manual when you buy a Mesa amp. My roadster was the best amp I’ve ever owned and yes I did keep the presence on 0 on channels 3 and 4 😂
@@snapascrew In my experience when I kept presence on 0 it sounded just dark AND muddy :P ...and I know that Mesa controls are unnecessary weird and counter-intuitive: I own a Mark V :D
but I just didn't come along with rectos!
@@waikschoner4885 I only turn presence off in a home jam scenario... when it’s time to mic it up and the presence knob combined with a low pass filter on the Audio console gives you one of the best sounds of the last 20 years! Fizzy if the audio engineer doesn’t know how to dial in the low pass filter... sure! But not mesas fault. Other amps that have “less fizz” don’t get the same result
IRs 3 and 4 sounded the same: 2*12 and 1*12 . Was there an error in the video? Or are the results really that close?
Like to hear some leads
The modes on each channel should be footswitchable
When clint eastwood said its badlander its badlander.
I want to see how long this amp last before gets discontinued in typical Mesa boogie fashion lol the only amp company I know that builds great amps but yet discontinues them every other year if you got a good thing keep it going
By pushed, does that mean that it's a particularly hot pickup, or boosted or? I guess I'm just a bit confused since the other rectos have a 'pushed' mode in the clean channels
Just means the gain is ran higher here
Why does Doug always sound like he’s been screaming all day? 💀
Because he does. Or how else do you think he can make himself being heard over all these loud amps? xD
@@artificialinsolence3182 i thought he was in a death metal band...
How tight is it compared to the TC?
Is there a way of bypassing the processing of the IR so a person could do it externally or post FX?
In worst case load a blank profile.
If it's the same as the Captor X or the CabClone IR, you can delete an IR and just switch to that number. So for example, make IR #2 blank, and it's just the raw sound.
@@vincelupone thanks. I believe you.. but this leads to my next question for Mesa: if someone loads a “blank” profile, will there be digital conversion happening? Unfortunately, I think so..
Converting from analog to digital, then back analog isn’t necessary and can only do harm to the signal.
@@dougleydorite All IRs are digital. So there will always be digital conversion here. Running it through an XLR will still sound fantastic. Many of us have been using reactive loads in this manner for years and they sound great.
@@vincelupone I’m sure it would sound great and I’ve been in similar situations, but when I’m reamping, the less converters, the better. If I want to run my IR externally with this amp that would mean it would get converted twice instead of once.
Nerdy, but when you’re recording these things make a difference
Would have been cool if the Badlander had MIDI
Ola Englund did this test before mesa themselves, thats odd.
not really... olda filmed and edited it all himself. mesa probably had to hire someone to do the filming and editing for this video which would be a longer process
@@teamskdm1 well since they make the amps and Ola lives in sweden I would guess they had their hands on a few before Ola could even buy one. But this doesn't really matter, we're happy to see em.
Target Audience
@@merqury5 mesa sent him one before they were available to buy and mesa and ola dropped a video on the same day an hour apart to introduce the amp. im sure that was staged and intentional.
@@teamskdm1 cool, smart move. Funny that a lanky sweede turns out to be their poster boy. He'll copy it and call it Solar amps before the sun is back :)
