Although it is considered a "green" version of a retinoid, the bakuchiol molecule is not a retinoid; it's more or less similar (like you and your cousin). Bakuchiol molecular structure is more stable to UVA radiation, so it doesn't change its conformation like the retinoids when exposed to light, which causes photosensitization that leads to cell damage (irritation).
Sorry, I didn't want to sound pretentious, but the chemist in me couldn't help much. I hope the information helps 😁
I was just about to say this... Also a chemist 😂
Bakuchiol is not a retinol! It has been found to have retinol functionality through retinol-like regulation of gene expression. But it has nothing to do with retinol/vitamin A. It actually has antioxidant properties and is more similar in chemical structure to resveratrol. I can’t use retinol because it sets my sensitive rosacea skin on fire, but I love bakuchiol and my skin tolerates it fantastically. It’s been shown to be as effective in the long run as retinol but takes much longer to start showing the same benefits. It also needs to be used both AM and PM to get the retinol-like benefits.
Needs more studies to me . Crazy amount some companies for charge an oil or cream with bakuchiol
I've been deepening my foundation with a darker shade of Auric Glow Lust and it is absolutely divine.
have you used a darker shade of glow lust to bronze?
Curious how many shades darker you went to deepen it? I’m currently using Morganite. I’ve used VB Golden-but it’s super expensive. Auric is much cheaper and I love it too!
I usually wear morganite or selenite. I bought sunstone to use as a bronzer, but I end up using it more to mix with a moisturizer to make a bronzey primer or mixed with foundation to darken it, or with a bit of concealer to make my own skin tint.
I use the danessa myricks olive color fix to fix yellow foundations, some it can't help but it's truly lovely and versatile.
Just wanted to say huge thanks Kackie - somehow (it's freakish!) you've re-created the makeup look I've been testing for my cousin's wedding, and you've basically solved my questions about making a cool toned pink blush/lip work.
How did you KNOW
Lauren Mae uses a different Yensa foundation, the BB or CC one. It’s in a tube.
It's been my go to for years. Always dependable, always super pretty!
Oh that’s great to know! The silk serum one has coconut oil in it so maybe the other one could work for me
unrelated request- i’m thinking of getting the victoria beckham primer, but am unsure how it would work under my lisa eldridge foundation (which i love)….. do you happen to know? 👀 also could you do a this or that type thing where people ask you how products work together 👀 “this AND that” lol. it would be like using a virtual makeup library 👀👀👀
Can you review the finding Ferdinand tubing mascara? Also - been LOVING my blushes from your collection ❤
As someone who struggles with color I appreciate the color theory explanations and troubleshooting so much!!
When bakuchiol is added to things like this, it’s really just an antioxidant so I don’t mind it but I also don’t seek it out.
your necklace reminds me of sir mix a lot 😅
When I wear my gold rimmed glasses and gold jewelry I'm like oh god I look like I'm in run DMC not what I was going for
I love your description of the Yensa foundation as a higher coverage version of the Yummy Skin Tint. I never thought of them that way - but it’s a perfect comparison. Been a fan of the Yensa for a while now, and the Yummy Skin is my new go to for every day. Both so beautiful!
Kackie, will you review the new Merit solo shadows? Also, I went and watched Haute Mess Tom for the first time…he’s hilarious and wonderful. I can see why you’re friends! 🧡💛💙
I truly love your personality coming thru in your videos … I hope it’s always as true as it seems . Lately it’s been even better . I appreciate an honest opinion . I bought the new RMS BLUSH . I’m truly in love !
The green lids and your sweater *chef’s kiss*🌸🐝
I absolutely purchased the medium tone of both the beige and coral blushes that you put out with finding Ferdinand, and they are absolutely lovely. Truly splendid. I can't seem to stop wearing them, and the texture is something that I haven't come across before! Bravo!!! 👏👏🩷
I had that tone up primer from them a couple years ago and I really enjoyed it.
The Yensa foundation was an absolute no-go for me. There was nothing about it that I liked. Surprisingly, the Danessa Myrick's Yummy worked so much better for my dry old skin. Go figure.
Good to know! How did the Yensa behave on you? Too dry?
Same same
Yensa seemed to magnify everything I was attempting to minimize. It was too dry.
@@kackie
I love the BC foundation from Yensa!
Wow that color theory bit about the cool-toned pink blush making your cheekbones look like they're receding was crazy! Especially compared to the warmth along the jawline/under the blush, that part looked like it was coming forward (relatively). I had never fully understood what you meant when you said cool tones recede from the eye but it was so clear to me in that moment! Wow!
I just got ramped up on my tret and it is TRETTING HARD. But i’ve been slathering my face in le prunier oil and i swear its whats keeping my face from falling off rn
I’m confused-is the dior pink blush not a blue pink?
Makeup IS magic, especially in the theater. Clothing and makeup can alter my sense of self, my level of confidence, and bring me into a character I am playing by letting me see that person in the mirror, even if that is simply a more refined and perfected version of myself. ❤❤❤ i love watching you folks have fun with all these little pots of colored goop!
Your color theory explanations are so helpful and set you apart. 15:18 Can you explain why the baby pink blush trend looks so awakening on medium olive skin, considering it's very blue/cool and olive has a lot of yellow. Something to do with the blue in olive?
Olive skin has yellow, yellow cancels purple, creating a pleasant neutrality. It's important to note that those blushes also work best when they're translucent so the skin tone shows through.
@@kackie Thank you! Great (true) point about the translucence. So the featured blush turned you taupe because your neutral, peachy pinky undertone lacked the requisite yellow.
Hi Kackie! Would you mind letting me know the name of the lofi track you had playing in this video? It was so aesthetic. Also I am so bummed I wanted to try your blush Au Lait but it has cocoa butter and I’m acne prone >__< last thing, I know the cool pink blush isn’t your style but I thought it looked pretty on you especially after you draped Au Lait 🥺 your eye look w the green just the whole look today was so feminine and pretty
Love YENSA 👏👏⭐️
Your comment about the lipgloss "I wouldn't kick it out of bed" made me laugh! 😅😅
I've enjoyed almost everything i've tried from Yensa beauty. I tried their pumpkin tumeric face mask, and I really liked it. I also bought the serum foundation because I heard good things about it. Unfortunately, it was way too deep, and I couldn't return it because I purchased it on the Macarri app. I might try lightening it. I know i've tried a few other products, but I can't recall what they were.
Your eye look is so pretty and enchanting.
When in doubt, go beige! Words to live by 😁Interesting brand! Never heard about it before, but must admit the finish of the foundation on your skin is beautiful!!
I havent had great experiences with Danessa Myricks Yummy Skin. I definitely think its something in my skincare routine or my primer. It ALWAYS pills on me, so now when I see all these new foundations coming out, I'm not as willing to purchase them because I already love Fenty Beauty's Eaze Drop Blurring Skin Tint.
I’m curious if you’ve tried the Loreal tinted hyaluronic serum? I got the vibe it was a dupe for the Fenty eaze drops. But I’ve only sampled the drops! Also thank you for the pill warning that is my pet peeve :)
On camera that color actually looks good once you blended it all in
oooh that blush would look nice on me hehe
Kackie is giving SEA NYMPH and I'm here for it!
So as a black girl with French blood line, blue based red lipstick is supposed to be complimentary on me does this also(in mind of cheeks and this lesson today) 😊 In consideration with my blue slight green veins? Hopefully I didn’t jump ahead of what may come later in video. I paused to ask my questions as to not miss anything and to complete my thought. Thanks you really inspire more than makeup on this channel!!!
I can hear Cate the Great screaming “Body Sauuuuce!”
😂 yes
Is there a ballpark on when the blush pre-orders will ship?
I am super cool toned and all things orange glow on me.
Yeah my friend Cymbre has a rare medium blue undertone and every foundation she swatches looks like velveeta 😵💫
My niece stole my D-Bronzi drops, so I have been using the Chantecaille bronzer to deepen my foundations.
I would love if you would review some Vieve products! :)
you look like a gorgeous ethereal elf princess
I love Yensa ❤
Regarding the retinol purge, I know what you mean. I have been applying jojoba oil in between applications to help with the non-stop peeling. It helps with mine and doesn’t break me out.
Same here 🙋🏻♀️jojoba oil seems to be the prefect emollient for me that isn’t pore clogging but is rich enough to get under those pesky peeling skin flaps where I can gently rub them off my face.
Does the channel blush you just showed us in a previous video, have a strong smell?(perfumey?). I tried a glow lipstick by channel that is really pretty but has a constant weird smell that I taste too! Kind of gross!!
Hi Kackie😊
Bakuchiol is NOT a retinoid, it is a plant extract that purports to have some "retinol-like" attributes. I personally cannot handle bakuchiol, but I have extremely sensitive skin for some plant extracts, but I can handle a gentle retinol (Cerave).
I got the primer in my Ipsy bag - while I liked the subtle glow, it made my medium-tan skin look a bit ashy and it pilled so I had to chuck it. For being an Asian brand I find their shade range lacking, most shades are too light and undertones seem off too.
Woah it’s crazy how black mascara on you is so intense!
I relate sm 10:04 🤦♀️😂
Backuchiol actually doesn't cause photosensitivity, and there are some articles that suggest a very specific anti inflammatory property of it can result in some sun protection.
So rest easy if you happen to purchase a tube in your shade to wear on the daily.
New trend! SeaMossExtravaganza makeup! ❤️
MAC fix+ is 50% off this Saturday at Ulta❤
Good morning Katie (edit Kackie. And autocorrect is NOT my friend!) and Fjord Friends!😊❤
lol i'm sure there's someone named Katie watching who appreciated the hello!
Yeah I’ve used the lip oil and I was surprised at how thin it feels. Also it doesn’t really last. Its not a terrible experience but its a little disappointing 😐
I assume the concealer is peachier to cancel out dark circles
Went and bought your kackie nudes collection and they said 5 business days to ship. Unfortunately they aren’t giving their standard shipping for your collection. They said it will be shipped at the end of September which is kind of a bummer.
Yeah, same. It's because the original sold out very fast, so now It's on pre-order !
I hope this is okay to say, but lately with all of these wannabe luxury brands, my impression is that their manufacturer has a good base formulation so all the brand is doing is choosing colors…and they’re not doing a good job of it. The reviews are always “good formulation, questionable colors/shades” and that’s not helpful, since outside of the initial application, I need the colors to work more than I care about the formulation.
It’s Beautiful looking on you 😊
That necklace though.
not me saying au lait wrong ahahahahah whoooops
❤❤❤
Love you but I wish you wouldn't focus so much on what looks good on YOU and more on formula as much as you do color theory.
I've been thinking about this comment. Unless she got other people in with other undertones (I would love this don't get me wrong, art math on HLP) it would be impossible. Also, Kackie is here for us for a VARIETY of different reasons: co-regulating during PMS today, art math and library swatches tomorrow and chaos astrology next week - I'm here for all of it. AND if you watch her regularly you begin to read what she likes and what she doesn't like , eg she's not mixing VB primer with a base that she loves the consistency of, but not only does she churn out content at a really high rate FOR US, she has to interact with brands AND do it ethically. If you stick around long enough you will get all the info in round ups etc. Kackie will tell us when she's wrong or made a decision about something but she will always try to make things work. I for one really appreciate her presence on here.
