I don’t have a junk drawer. I just put everything where they most make sense around the house. Pens and pencils- office desk drawer, dog brush- dog items bucket with all their other dog things. Kitchen scissors- utensil drawer, essential oils- under kitchen sink with cleaning products and candles. Paper clips-office desk. Any tools- goes in the garage.
You have just created an office drawer..not a junk drawer. Be sure to let the family know it is no longer a junk drawer and is for office stuff only. I think if you label it as junk it stays that way. Looks great I may be the odd ball here but I do not have a kitchen junk drawer. Got rid of it years ago. I sorted items that got tossed into it, similar to what you have in yours. Office supplies went to --office, scissors are in knife drawer, meds went into meds cupboard spot, garden tools went to shed or a bucket in summer, essential oils could be placed with bathroom stuff or candles etc I just got tired of sorting through it and I ended up with a space for kitchen needs. :-)
Shawne R I have had a junk drawer and honestly I think I have more than one . One in my kitchen and in my room. I defiantly want to take up this challenge to myself and eliminate it! I say everything should have a place so why do I keep throwing crap into that drawer later hating it. Some may need a junk drawer and it works for them but your comment has made me realize I do not need one. 😊
Looks great! I got rid of my junk drawer a few years ago. It felt wonderful to finally get rid of it. Now we have a drawer in my dining room buffet that asks as our mini office; it holds pens, paperclips, stapler, stamps, notepads, etc.
New sub here, binging on this series. I like your idea, it makes it like a game!! Russian Roulette...oh crap I have to clean the shed! I have been married over 40 years and I have never had a junk drawer, I guess because I'm a Virgo. When I was a kid my Mom used to pay me a dime to clean her junk drawer and I loved it.
I used to have 2 junk drawers. I got rid of one back when we did 30 bags in 30 days. It's stayed organized ever since. All that junk still needs a home I guess. I think the Barbie hanger in yours surprised me the most, lol.
Sophia, You are an inspiration. I have a junk drawer that needs attention, and I need to get a divider like you have. Your drawer looks so nice. I love your sweater!☺️
It really is amazing how much you can get done in a short amount of time that is procrastinated! We recently needed to clean a room up, and had been procrastinating forever, and decided to set a timer for an hour and see what we could get started - we ended up get it ALL done in 30 minutes and trying to think of what else to do LOL... Wish I knew how to make my brain be more realistic on how long I think something will take lol..
Sophia I love this series and am going to attempt it. So far I have 10 jobs for the kitchen.....UGH. It’s okay though as they’re small jobs and I know I can finish one at a time without getting overwhelmed. I think this is the easiest way for me to declutter my home......one small job at a time. I don’t have much energy so making each job small I know I will be successful. If I feel well after the first job I can do a second on the same day. Now to write out the jobs for all my other spaces that need decluttering. This by far is the best decluttering series for me. Thank you for your constant motivation and inspiration.😊❤️🙏
We have two junk drawers in our kitchen, each about half the width of yours. One holds small tools we may need, like screwdrivers, etc. the other holds the power cords for our devices and the remotes for the kitchen TV. Something you have taught me is to expect to declutter areas like this on a regular basis. It really is key.
We no longer have a junk drawer in the kitchen. I do, however, have somewhat of a junk drawer in our basement (which we use as a master suite) for keeping a few odds and ends so that we don't have to go upstairs Everytime we need something. And, so far, it hasn't gotten out of hand. You are so right about doing what works for you rather than trying to follow someone else's example.
This totally inspired me! I went right home from work and cleaned out my kitchen junk drawer. While I was organizeing, I was doing your accent (which I love) in my head. LOL Thank you for doing these. I'm going to go around the house this weekend and write some mini DOC chores to put into a jar as well. Great idea!
I have two nice things to say - I love saying - and meaning- nice things. You are doing an awesome job. For the first 2 weeks of this year I listed chores very much like yours - 1 a day. I am doing well. I do like your element of surprise, and think I will try your method too. Also -both your sweater and lipstick compliment your complexion so nicely. TFS 😘
I got rid of my junk drawer a while back ago, instead I made specific places for all the things. I do have a drawer in kitchen but it's not junk. Only keep things in it that i use in that are: scissors, lighter for candles and a few other things. Everything else like pens, tape, glue, batteries etc...belong in other places in my house. Junk drawer for me is just an excuse to not put things away!!
I just watched your 30 bags in 30 day challenge doing this exact drawer lol! I am finding you very encouraging doing these tasks! I've done my daughter's toys, plastic Tupperware containers, glassware cabinet, pots and lids cabinet, and now it's time to do my laundry room cabinet! Noooo!
Good job, I did my junk drawer yesterday and I was amazed at some of the things I found in it that I forgot I had, I was " Oh Wowing" at all the good stuff I was finding , I was also a dollar and twenty two cents richer from the change I found...LOL :D
Sophia, I've really enjoyed seeing you find what works for you, you have tried so many things in different aspects of home-keeping. What you've done is take one of the biggest blocks to declutter. organizing and cleaning. making the choice, we are already overwhelmed trying to decide and then trying to get thru to the finish line. Time to consider writing a book. I said years ago, you're the Martha Stewart for the rest of us. you are multi-talented and I bet a month of my Starbucks money, they would go yea!
I have a similar organiser tray in my junk drawer, if works like a charm - even my husband puts things back where it’s supposed to!! By the way....I kept checking UA-cam several times throughout the day yesterday as I was keen to watch more and worried the notification button didn’t work!! Looking forward to more coming up and watching previous videos again
I am now the same way. I dumped my junk drawer, purged at least half of it, then put dividers in so I can actually open the drawer and then see my scissors -tape -screwdriver etc. I just bought a battery organizer with a battery tester and wonder where it's been all my life!
I actually had 6 junk drawers last year. Now only 2. All organized and I can always find what I need. Was tough to relocate everything at first but got through it
Try saying “utility drawer” instead of “junk drawer”. Then you will be less likely to throw “junk” in there. I picked up this tip over a year ago, and it’s still working for me.
I picked the smallest drawer in my kitchen to be the junk drawer, it houses a box cutter, extra razors, butane lighter, razor scraper, 3 screwdrivers, pliers, channel locks (to change my fridge filter), an electrical outlet tester, one small hand pruner, measuring tape, small level, small hammer, replacement heads for my drip system, and gate keys.
@@duvallswtexas Seven inches wide, 21.5 inches deep, oh I forgot needle nose pliers, regular pliers, glue stick, scissors, staple puller, and a chipping hammer. :) I am an expert packer.
Great video. Would it be possible to add to your videos your relocation of items after you declutter each area. Relocating things immediately might help you tremendously. It saves time in the long run. You inspire me. Thank you.
Another great video Sophia ! 2.44 "the elephant" you said, well, I just stuck in my effort to declutter because I tried the usual, one room at a time. I think I will write sticky notes first thing tomorrow :)
Wondering if the pens could go into a pencil holder somewhere. They take up a lot of space in the drawer that could be used for something else. Great job and very motivating for us all.
Happy that you cut the edge of the liner. =) I have no junk drawer. I have one drawer where I keep some pens and paper for shopping lists, tape, scissors. And one drawer where I keep the last plastic bags I will ever buy, clips and rubber bands. Everything is really organized and has it´s place and both drawers are clean. I hate junk and junk drawers. You did great! Love from Europe ♥
I use to have one those I just put things in the appropriate place now . Don`t you have some of this stuff in your new organizer space . ( pens and such )
The only thing I would do that you didn't is to test ALL the pens, markers & pencils. Throw away the dried out pens & markers, sharpen pencils & get rid of the ones with out erasers. Seems extra but it does help! ☺
Why are you saying the under the counter lights are garbage? If they have good batteries they are wonderful. Made such a difference with lighting up dark spaces.
Just curious, why do you keep your gift cards in the drawer instead of your wallet? I have to keep them in my wallet or I forget about them. Love this series!
When you said “ why procrastinate “it reminded me of a great adage I heard : Doing something today is a gift to your Tomorrow Self 💕

The mix of Brooklyn accent with European, I'm enjoying this immensely.
Looks great! I got rid of my junk drawer a few years ago. It felt wonderful to finally get rid of it. Now we have a drawer in my dining room buffet that asks as our mini office; it holds pens, paperclips, stapler, stamps, notepads, etc.
Thank you for trimming that right side edge. It was going to drive me crazy!!
No longer a junk drawer but a high functioning utility drawer! Amazing transformation! Can't wait to see what you do next!
Looks great , Sophia ! The other thing I do when dejunking my junk drawer is test all the pens & markers... usually can weed out a few duds!👍🏻

Loving your series one bit at a time😊
I’m so happy for you . Your views are going up it’s because we all love you xx
We call our drawer a utility drawer. Everything in it is useful and handy to have in the kitchen.

@@nancypeteja6560 lol I appreciate the encouragement!! Are you DOC-ing too?
Loving this series and approach so much. Thanks for sharing. It has changed my approach to my home and work organizing and cleaning 💖

Me too. ..Sophia really has a great philosophy I really am learning from🌸

Yay! I’m so glad your kitchen work area is still working out for you!
I 💖to organize. So calming and worth the effort. Good job! Wendy Thomas

I got rid of my junk drawer about four years ago best thing I ever did I have never missed it since
Great improvement! I no longer have a junk drawer. I do keep office supplies in a drawer of a dry sink cabinet. I try to keep all tools in the garage.
I am now the same way. I dumped my junk drawer, purged at least half of it, then put dividers in so I can actually open the drawer and then see my scissors -tape -screwdriver etc. I just bought a battery organizer with a battery tester and wonder where it's been all my life!
Love the series 💕
Great video! Maybe dog brush with dog bags in small drawer?
I’m loving your D.O.C. system, both in watching your videos, and drawing jobs from my own jar!
You are ticking off all your chores in no time !!! Good job!!
Did made60 slips for mini jobs. Can’t wait to start. Thanks Sophia for these ideas.
This is working so well. It makes it funnier 😁 to clean up the places I’ve been probably wouldn’t get to ever.
Thank you for these Series!! I am interested how the new kitchen/office organisation is working for you?
I actually had 6 junk drawers last year. Now only 2. All organized and I can always find what I need. Was tough to relocate everything at first but got through it
That organizer is great!
Try saying “utility drawer” instead of “junk drawer”. Then you will be less likely to throw “junk” in there. I picked up this tip over a year ago, and it’s still working for me.
This is such a good idea Sophia! I’m going to use this method when I move next month. You’re a huge inspiration and you are so encouraging.
That looks like the best system you've done for that drawer! I need to do our junk drawer in the kitchen; it is overflowing with pens!
Great containers. I'm going to buy some. And Thank you for the awesome ideal of drawer liners.
This series makes me thankful I live in an RV 😂 I have two kitchen drawers, no room for junk even if I wanted it LOL. Love your videos Sophia!
Congrats on 50K🎉
Junk drawers are insane! I no longer have one but when I did it was over flowing with junk the ex dragged in.
Lovely Sophia , Awesome job 👏. We love this series 👍🏻👍🏻. We love y’all 💜❤️💕🐶🐶🐱
I just decluttered my junk drawer a few days ago. Now I need to re-do it because I need one of those drawer organizers🙂
AZHITW WOW! That’s your smallest drawer? Lots of tools, etc in one small drawer.
@@duvallswtexas Seven inches wide, 21.5 inches deep, oh I forgot needle nose pliers, regular pliers, glue stick, scissors, staple puller, and a chipping hammer. :) I am an expert packer.
Nice organizer set! Looks very functional! 😊🌷

That "junk" draw is no longer junk!!! Great job! Looks good. 😉👍💖
Great job Sophia, loving the boppy music too 👌🏻 love from Australia 🇦🇺 xx
Another great video Sophia ! 2.44 "the elephant" you said, well, I just stuck in my effort to declutter because I tried the usual, one room at a time. I think I will write sticky notes first thing tomorrow :)
Nice job Sophia!!! I’m going to work on mine soon.
Love this series and it really seems to be working for you.
You are so funny to me. I love that you cut the drawer liner. You calmed down so many people 😂😂
I use those drawer organizers for everything.
Love this idea
!
That looks really great!
I love this concept!! I am going to do this with you!!!
You turned your junk drawer into a office drawer but you have office supplies in your little set of drawers that’s already in the kitchen 😆
Need to do this program. Love your videos
Yep it's looking good 👍
Lol ....I have a small herd of elephants in my room. ..thanks for the reminder to declutter those elephants 🐘 👍
Loved another "DOC"
I need to get something like this for my mini office drawer, in my landing strip console by the front door.
I have some of those little round dishwasher parts in my junk drawer too
You crack me up!!! To funny!!! Nice job on the junk drawer!
I don't have a kitchen junk drawer. We did have one growing up.
Kristina You’re my hero! I didn’t know it was possible to NOT have a junk drawer. Maybe I will attempt now that I’m 68.
Wondering if the pens could go into a pencil holder somewhere. They take up a lot of space in the drawer that could be used for something else. Great job and very motivating for us all.
Well we do need them there though
Love the series 💕👍
Great job 👍🏻
Great job!
Lovely job!
It looks great Sophia! 👍🏾🥳💐💜

Fun clean out!
I wasn't going to mention it, but I am glad you cut that uneven piece of the junk drawer liner; I was going to go OCD about it! LOL (just kidding!!! )
You look so pretty in this video
Thank you Joan!
I have never used twine in my kitchen 😂
You use it to tie chicken legs, bouquet for soup, tie a roast or the likes.
Oh Sophia you know us viewers so well...!!😂
I use to have one those I just put things in the appropriate place now . Don`t you have some of this stuff in your new organizer space . ( pens and such )

“Let’ s avoid “ hahaha
The prettiest junk drawer belongs to The Minimalist - Joshua Fields Milburn
I think you meant “corral “ not “careen” you’ll see what I mean when you look it up. 😂🤣 loving the series!
My favorite expression. It’s good enough for the guys I go out with...lol been married 48 years to one man so I guess it’s good enough for him..
Love this system, you’re eating the elephant one bite at a time.
Why are you saying the under the counter lights are garbage? If they have good batteries they are wonderful. Made such a difference with lighting up dark spaces.
We DON'T have a junk drawer, we HAVE a utility drawer.
A job well done!!! My junk drawer needs done too.......not looking forward to it. YUK!!!!!!!!
This brings me back to when I first found you years ago, with the 30 bas in 30 days, and you were in the kitchen...wow long way from there! xxx
Just curious, why do you keep your gift cards in the drawer instead of your wallet? I have to keep them in my wallet or I forget about them. Love this series!
Because if would forget about them in my wallet. Plus those are for near future use. The little guy has a birthday coming.
Like you said, do what works for you!
my problem would be the relocate part LOL
