  • It's about time the Left realizes that WE ALL benefited from Christopher Columbus, including them. Michael Knowles is NOT HERE for this leftist's elitism.

I only wish the young student had stood there at the mic and LISTENED as he got his ass handed to him instead of fluffing the answer off and turning his back to walk away before Knowles was finished. Typical of a young person of his mindset, but disappointing. As I don't think he fully recognized the asswhooping he was just handed. Hope lies in the fact that the student has seen this clip from YAFTV and realizes his unfair, unjust and unrealistic view of history and the very men that pioneered our world, today.

Never face a battle without the intention of finishing it.

Does everyone admit that? The bible certainly doesn't. Knowles certainly gets angry by slavery being pointed out as being a not very nice aspect of/by Columbus. But hey, all is good because Columbus also turned some natives to the christian belief. All is well. What was it again, that the bible states? Do what your slave master tells you, particularly the nasty ones? Something along those lines.

    • @shawnyfin
      @shawnyfin 3 роки тому +33

@@hamster4618 ...the bible does in fact see slavery in a negative light, but the authors are also aware that slavery exists and in making the point of reverent fear of God. That's what is so hard for so many to understand about the context therein - God supercedes slave and master, rich and poor, and to love Him regardless makes you better for it, ESPECIALLY if you're in a shit position of being slave. THAT is what that means. Not, "Ok, so like, slaves are ok. We're cool with that."

mweber555, while I agree with your sentiment, you've missed the mark a little bit. Let me explain. I disagree that the student is using "today's morals". The morals of the Judeo-Christian worldview existed well before today. In fact, they existed in Columbus' day. Columbus found himself in a moral conundrum, as do many, many politicians, today. Columbus did what he could _For His Time_ to remain just and true to these transcendent morals and yet still embark on a great voyage. This student is the epitome of pampered and privileged and Leftist indoctrination. He's never faced a Hard decision a day in his Life. He's not judging yesterday based on morals of today. Rather he's judging yesterday from the _same_ universally moral perspective or worldview, BUT from a place of extreme comfort and excess. This student's place in history is utterly incomparable to that of ANY time in history. How FOOLISH of him to sit in a comfortable, temperature controlled classroom and pass _judgement_ on the people of history - FROM this perspective!! It's kind of similar to a person talking about a horrific crime they were NOT a part of, but asserting they'd have done X or Y _had_ they been involved. The person DOESN'T know what they'd "have done" as they WEREN'T involved. It's very, very easy to pass judgement from a place of comfort and non-consequence. It's far, far, FAR different being an _active_ player in the annals of history, trying to accomplish something and at the same time, wanting to stay true to your moral conscience.

Honestly, I think the same way. I see Americans talk about slavery, like it was an a concept exclusive to America. Yeah, America practiced slavery, so did every known nation of the world. I'm from Nigeria and we also practised slavery. I, as a person come from a line of people who owned and mistreated slaves (I'm in no way justifying slavery, it is wrong). Even today, a lot of household in Nigeria practise a system of having a housemaid. Which in reality is a form of modern slavery. Just that the maids are not gagged and chained. So, slavery is not a preserve of the white man. It's something embedded in human history. Even those blacks who were sold into slavery, a whole lot of them were sold to the white man by their fellow blacks.
However, what is unique about America is that it's the country that fought a civil war to end slavery. I mean, a white president fought other white men, so that slavery (which majorly affects the blacks) will come to an end.
Racism is also not an American concept. A lot of countries in Europe are also battling racism.
Yes, your leaders have flaws. However, no one is praising them for the flaws. When I hear about Jefferson or Washjngton, what comes to my mind is not slave ownership or racism. What comes to mind is patriotism, fighting for what you believe is right. In fact, I did not hear or know about the flaws of these men until their detractors point them out.
These men are your heroes, love them for the good that they've done. Be better and move your country forward. Not hate them and spit on their legacy.

You have to judge historical figures by the standards of the times they lived in, NOT by today's standards. In Columbus' case, he's a great man by either definition and if this kid wants to talk about slavery, which has been practiced by pretty much every major historical society on earth, he can start with the fact that we fought a bloody war to end it. As far as I'm concerned, given the US suffered 630,000 dead out of a combined population of

Apostolis G USA wasn’t a nation at the time, but he set the foundation for this great nation. He came here, with many others, in search for a better, more free life. And they did just that. And don’t act like the natives were so peaceful and just, they were slaughtering and scalping each other long before our ancestors came here. Incase you need a history lesson most of our ancestors fought and actually died alongside these natives. Most people act like we committed genocide and there are no longer any natives alive. These thoughts mostly come from ignorant brats who have no dose of reality. I grew up in New Mexico and Oklahoma, and there are MANY native people with roots to their ancestors and they honestly get better treatment and opportunities then most of my countryman. And this is coming from a veteran that served his country, and yet a native born American gets better benefits then myself because of their roots. Show me another country that does this.

@@GeordieBoy1955 I’m assuming that’s sarcasm? But it’s not the point that they’re not in a better position than the descendants of non-slaves; it’s the fact that without western ethics developing & being implemented they’d STILL be slaves. I have direct lineage to two different Irish slave families & still get assumed of my oppressive status over people from families in countries that saved up & bought tickets to come here & houses to stay at when they got here. As long as their skin is darker. It’s fucking absurd

Great answer!!! This generation is groundlessly proud and ungrateful! They think they know something and yet are filled with nothing but arrogance and pride.
Not long ago, I spoke to a Japanese Christian woman who established a church with her husband in Hiroshima over 50 years ago. I shared with her that I knew one young man who went to a Japanese Christian University and that strangely he turned away from the church after years of service previously.
She told me she knew the school well and and said that school was one of satans best kept secrets. She said those who went there were inoculated from becoming believers. Great school for personal success, terrible school to learn faith.
This young man and those like him, who go to University think they know something because they have an education, but in reality they cannot see how foolish and proud they really are. A man with a little knowledge is a terrible thing... They can not be taught or learn anything...

I suppose it makes more sense to some people, to believe in a creature of unimaginable evil that corrupts Christian minds, rather than believe that maybe someone just left because they chose to.

Part of the problem today is that so many have had a really easy life. They can't even imagine how 99% of the people have struggled throughout the history of man to just exist. This is coming from kids that always received a ribbon and told that where special even when being losers.
