Very good review! I do appreciate the way you share your thoughts on what is fun about the game and the things that could be done better. Very helpful. Thank you sir!
Years ago, I had Hopolomachus in it’s first version. I ended up selling it as it just didn’t jive with me solo. Then, I got a bunch of Too Many Bones and played that for a few years, but sold it as well. I am not sure Chip Theory Games are my type of game. I cannot put my finger on why since they have a lot of the trappings that I think I would like, but I have hesitated ever since selling those two games to try any of their other titles.
I made it through about 1/2 of the missions or so - and packed it up. It was just too repetitive and the exploration became much too samey for me. Liked the ship book. I did not like the level of randomness. Every single thing is a dice roll. Landing. dice roll (and bad bad things happen most of the time that make your exploration almost impossible - resulting in death of characters). Move dice roll. Try to do something - dice roll. I could not do it anymore. Love the App. The tutorial was great - the rulebook after that not so much nor the ship book which left some things ambiguous. The production is amazing. If I go back to it I'll house rule it to make it more fun and not so frustrating. I so wanted to love it because my fave theme is SciFi.. I'm hoping Isofarian Guard is a better fit for me. Thanks for being so thorough here!
I can see a lot of people saying they get burned out after a while. I am pacing myself with the game so I don’t, but I also know this is what the game is. I think the part that I like the best is that everything is so permanent. That makes it a real thrill to play for me. It can be pretty random with the dice rolling though.
You can take up to 4 and I believe a minimum of 2. For the tutorial solo, you take 2. After that, you can chose. I took 4 on the second mission and had no problems controlling them as a solo player.

Thank you very much for watching!
Great overview, thank you.
You are welcome!
thanks for the overview and look at the game... been interested to see this one...
You bet!
I would love to see you try Hopolomachus: Victorum and Hopolomachus Remastered to hear your thoughts someday. :)

Reminds me of original star trek
Yes and lately I had had too many red shirts on my away teams!!!
Xcom you say........?
*Interest spikes to ungodly levels
The gameplay feels as such for sure! However, there is no direct combat like Xcom. I am sure they resolve that through dice checks.

so you manage all 4 classes but only take 2 on a mission or can you take all 4? I was a little confused about that from the rules.
