    This is a completely new and different DTS:X. It has absolutely nothing to do with the old DTS:X. This is going to be very confusing for consumers. Old DTS:X was a object based lossless codec built on top of DTS-HD MA. This new one is a lossy codec for streaming. Sorta like the difference between True HD Atmos and DD+ Atmos. Except these 2 DTS:X codec have nothing in common from a code standpoint. With the new DTS:X for streaming, you need a source device that can decode the stream into whatever the downstream device (AVR) can accept whether that be DTS, DTS-HD MA or old DTS:X. The IMAX enhanced piece of this doesn't have anything to do with getting DTS:X to work. If you have an IMAX Enhanced AVR it will just switch into that mode which uses custom EQ and crossovers to try to match the IMAX theatrical sound.
    IMO this is just a last ditch effort by DTS to gain back market share from Dolby. I don't think it's gonna work. This seems like this is going to be an inferior product. Now if the bitrates are much higher with better compression, then maybe it might make sense. But DD+ Atmos could also use much higher bitrates than is typically streamed currently. Not mention if services ever started offering TrueHD Atmos. Then game over.

    I’m glad you put a video up because I was a bit livid when I tried to play a movie, that clearly shows the dts x icon, and it only played atmos. 😭 it was frustrating trying to see what I could change from the app to the tv settings to my audio system and nothing seemed to change the outcome. Hopefully they give an update on allowing us to change the format in the settings like how Sony pictures core has it. I guess I’ll just go listen to my marvel movies on my blu rays with dts 7.1 for now lol

    The look on your face sums it up for a lot of us home theater enthusiasts. You would think they would take care of the people that this would matter to most, but nah. Let's take care of the guy that uses his tv and a soundbar who probably doesn't even know or care that this update is coming.

      @oblivion_007 lol, I feel that way sometimes, but I doubt that. It's been a growing industry for many decades. It's a whole business from low end soundbars and htb to high end systems. This is clearly an example of, disney doesn't know their audience or who to cater to. This was the ONLY thing it had going keeping my subscription active and they dropped the ball. Not only that, but there is no mention at all about future updates and possibilities. Just, here ya go. Maybe some more lg tvs along the way.

    Hi it is the settings on your account with Disney+ you have to change to the max possible ! about streaming to the max signal ! My tv LG Nanocell is from 2019 not Atmos or DTS-X but I have Atmos now for some years via the HDMI connection with the soundbar or receiver . but it is the settings of your account with Disney I found that on a latin American guys channel .I have now the Sony HT-A9 series with DTS-X optional but changing setting helps good look bro ! greetings from a Dutch Ret Marine living in Colombia

    I’m intrigued by the 3D label, it would be so cool if they provided the 3D versions. For me on a Samsung S90C I get the IMAX Enhanced and DTS X label but it just plays Dolby Atmos.

    If the tv is connected from the receiver through EARC, it will pass through. Only like 18 of the MCU titles are available for IMAX, DTS:X. Not all the MCU titles gets it.

    • @AdamKubera
      @AdamKubera 4 місяці тому

      It will not.
      I have LG G3 OLED and Denon AVC-X6800H, both eARC and both iMAX Enhanced certified and I'm not able to get DTS:X from this new Disney+ release.
      As I understand explanation, it is completely new DTS for streaming and your TV have to be able to decode it before will send it to your AVR, pass trough will not solve it.
      So far only couple Sony, TLC and Hisense TVs could do this.
      LG says that they will add ot later this year, but nobody knows to which models and when.

    Whatever hardware you are using to stream a IMAX Enhanced program, that hardware unit needs to be compatible to IMAX Enhanced. Hisense TV'S are compatible. Otherwise, you will hear it in ATMOS. BUT, I will tell you, Queen Rock Montreal, even in ATMOS sounds extraordinarily spectacular.

    This sux I'm having the same issue I have a Lg G2 Oled witch isn't Imax Enhanced witch is hooked up to a Dennon 3700 AVR witch has Imax Enhanced and it doesn't work and the thing is Disney Plus has always said that only your avr needs to have Imax Enhanced for it to work well it doesn't and just like you when i go to the details section DTSX shows up but if I use a 4k bluray with imax enhanced like bad boys 3 well then it works my receiver will even say imax enhanced on it this is such BS

    I'll be trying on my Sony AVR and Sony projector that is equipped with IMAX enhanced. My firestick 4k max 2nd Gen should send the signal. I'll update you later tonight.
    It mostly works with only Sony from what I've heard.
    Apple is a dud.

      So no IMAX enhanced 🤬
      My equipment is all Sony and has been verified to receive IMAX enhanced through certain 4k disc that Sony offers. But I wasn't able to get the flag to show anything other than HDR and the sound in Atmos. I think this is a streaming problem. There's no way this was field tested, or else they would have stated that there's certain equipment combinations that work. They actually believe this was a ready product, and it's no where close to ready.
      I definitely think it's not the streaming equipment.

    • @bigfil2093
      @bigfil2093 4 місяці тому +2

      From what I understand it is actually your streaming device, the Firestick, is the link in the chain that is preventing it from working for you. I’m not familiar with your projector but if it is certified as IMAX Enhanced and can do streaming apps directly from the projector that would probably work.
      In my case I have a Sony A95K which is IMAX enhanced but if I stream from my AppleTV thru the TV it won’t work. It will however work if I stream from either the native Disney Plus app or Sony Pictures Core App aka Bravia Core.

    • @kman9387
      @kman9387 4 місяці тому

      @bigfil2093
      My projector is the Sony XW5000ES and is IMAX enhanced and my AVR is the Sony AZ5000ES with IMAX enhanced.
      It seems all external streaming devices will not work.my projector doesn't have smart function because none of the high end projectors do.
      So it would seem to me that Disney isn't thinking about external streaming devices or AVR/Projector people.
      Like you mentioned, we would have to have the TV do everything internal.

    Apple TV will never get it. Because DTS says, that the streamer devices need a DTS ship. So Apple will have to come out with a new device. And the Nvidia Sheild. Is not enabled yet. That's why is not playing. I have one. Wasn't playing it either. Until I did some research. And found out. It not enable.

    The equipment I'm using now consists of two to three year old audio equipment. And you're telling me I can't play this shit.
    Marantz 8015
    LG OLED C9
    Nvidia Shield Pro
    And that's not adding all the amps all the speakers which I know don't matter but still it's the point. I can try the Panasonic 4K player like you have man but we shouldn't have to go to that much trouble to get something to work. Sorry I'm just frustrated. 😩

    Your AppleTV won’t be able to do DTS, the AppleTV doesn’t do TrueHD either. Apple wants to overlay system sounds (like Siri etc.) on the audio stream, that’s why they decode the DD+ audio and pass it on as Dolby MAT to your AVR.
    DTS X for streaming is called P2 (Profile 2) in-house in DTS, to differentiate it from the original DTS X, which they now reference as P1.
    DTS X P1 was always backwards compatible, always allowing you to access the DTS Core 5.1.
    DTS X P2 is not backwards compatible.
    The naming is confusing.
    Only Android/Google TV OS from Sony/Hisense/TCL/Philips were enabled this time around. LG webOS to come at a later date.
    Technically, DTS enabled devices can be made compatible with a software update. But IMAX Enhanced is a licensed product, and with such licensing comes logos on devices and manuals, so devices already out with consumers are f@&ked

    You're wrong. As long as any unit supports DTS the core of it will decode also IMAX Enhanced (which is the same thing...) So all units with DTS - supports IMAX Enhanced.

    • @myhometheater7029
      @myhometheater7029  4 місяці тому

      Not at all. You have to have dtsx imax enhanced equipment to decode that. It’s different.

      DTS:X Profile 2 (DTS for Streaming) the codec used by Disney+, has no Core component any more and there is no bitstream for DTS:X Profile 2. It's the first DTS codec not to use DTS Core. Upward compatibility is provided by the source streaming device. It has to decode DTS:X Profile 2 and then in the HDMI handshake it identifies the DTS capabilities of the connected sync device. If the sync device (receiver or sound bar) can handle the *old* DTS:X (DTS:X Profile 1), then the source device will transcode the Profile 2 bitstream to DTS-HD HRA with Profile 1 DTS:X in the stream. So legacy DTS:X receivers (without IMAX Enhanced) can still get DTS:X from the new stream, but the source device has to transcode it first. There are no standalone devices on the market yet that can decode DTS:X Profile 2, only select TVs from Sony, TCL, Hisense, Sharp, Xiaomi and Philips.
      More device support will be rolling out over time. But Apple TV has strong ties with Dolby Atmos for Spatial Audio so I think it's unlikely Apple is going to go down the DTS path like, ever.
      You can get the details on DTS:X Profile 2 and the Disney+ launch here in an interview with the DTS:X Product Manager who managed the roll-out: ua-cam.com/video/SgVUCLpQAEs/v-deo.html
