Master and Commander first battle… when set up tight, you’ll feel you’re in the middle of the action from hearing the sails above you, feeling the cannon balls whiz by, and when the camera goes below deck, you hear every step and scream of crew above you. It was always my go-to demo since ProLogic II Z came out

Not for everyone, metal heads only :)

Question if I may: is there any loss of quality in either audio or video, in streaming movies via Disney+, Amazon Prime, Netflix, etc., vs. watching the movie via Blueray disk?
Yes. Streaming uses a compressed video and audio feed to be able to send the signal over long distances. Video anomalies will appear as banding when a picture has gradients involved, going from light to dark, instead of a smooth transition between color tones. Audio is also compressed, so the bandwidth of the audio stream is smaller. Netflix streams Atmos at about 800 Kbps, when a disc will be streaming upwards of 2-8 Mbps, depending on the scene.

Solid list. I would toss in: 1. Last Night In Soho. As you said, Edgar Wright is big on using sound in interesting ways, and he definitely does it here. The first 15 minutes or so will make you think they're not going to use Atmos at all... but once the first dream sequence happens, you actually hear the sound designer open up the soundstage into the heights and the city comes to life. 2. Doctor Sleep. IMHO, this one's the gold standard for how you do sound for horror movies, barely nudging out It: Chapter 1 & 2 (both of which are fantastic). Great use of heights for ambient sounds, some nice bass, and absolutely perfect sound design. The scene where Rose The Hat invades Abra's mind is demo-worthy. And it's a great sequel to The Shining. I wish every mix was this good. 3. Dune. Everyone else has said it, but it should be included on every list. Brutally aggressive use of the Atmos format beginning-to-end. And the bass in that Hans Zimmer score... 4. Ghostbusters: Afterlife. Not constant height use, but very well done when called for. If the opening scene doesn't make the audio geek in you smile, nothing will. I've used this one to demo my system a few times. 5. Edge Of Tomorrow. The new UHD release cuts that gnarly deep bass at the beginning that everyone loved on the Blu, but it makes up for it with aggressive Atmos for the remainder of the flick. Every action scene sounds a bit more intense because of it... and this one was already outstanding in 7.1.

Love the list! I just purchased both of the Jumanji‘s in 4K. I have a 5.2.4 system well calibrated. The first Jumanji in Dolby Atmos sounds amazing! They take good advantage of the top surround speakers but the second one is an IMAX Dash DTS Dash X and the mix is bad. They occasionally use the top four speakers and I just can’t get the dialogue to sound crisp. It’s such a drag. Great video!
@@WellFedProductions very true, I bought the two latest ones welcome to the jungle and the next level. Welcome to the jungle is Atmos, next level is DTSX. I thought the mix didn’t take advantage of an Atmos layout as well as say the Jurassic Park series or the second Hellboy. Also the dialogue clarity is a little muddy, perhaps because they added extra bass for a full range system. Or maybe I’m just old😆

When Heat comes out on 4k soon the Los Angeles shutout scene should be epic.
I’m hoping for the same! 🤞
The bridge scene in the beginning of The Shadow. Alec Baldwin’s voice bounces around from speaker to speaker when he clouds the minds of the bad guys.
Super sir

Ready Player One car race scene.
Try Ghostbusters afterlife
im surprised not one person mentioned master and commander. the first battle is a test for any home theater system. thats one i wish would get a 4k atmos remaster.
I’ve been waiting for that to an upgrade too! 🤘
There are 3 Jumanji films…
@@WellFedProductions very true, I bought the two latest ones welcome to the jungle and the next level. Welcome to the jungle is Atmos, next level is DTSX. I thought the mix didn’t take advantage of an Atmos layout as well as say the Jurassic Park series or the second Hellboy. Also the dialogue clarity is a little muddy, perhaps because they added extra bass for a full range system. Or maybe I’m just old😆
Transformers 2 - Devastator scene - DTS ... trust...

I think soundbars are dog shit. 5.1 sound system every time.
I REALLY ENJOY VISUAL AND AUDIO HIGH QUALITY MATERIAL. UNFORTUNATELLY THIS IS NOT ENOUGH FOR ME AS 70 % OF THE MOVIES ARE BAD AND KIND OF STUPID MADE MOVIES FOR CHIP ENTERTAINING. ALL THE MOVIES YOU METIONED ARE INFANTYLE AND BADLY PREPARED FOR A MORE MATURE AUDIENCE. YOU ASKED I ANSWERED ...
