like being mauled by a bear or getting rabies from trying to pet wild animals.. wild animals are wild. its a horrible idea to feed and domesticate them. for them more than us.
@@ripvanwinkle2002 Not always. It depends what the circumstances are, who the people are and what their reasons for doing so are and how much use there is to the animal/s being around humans is.
I have a squirrel, Booby, who visits almost daily. She'll come in the apartment sometimes and I sit with her. I've tried to scratch her on the head but sometimes she turns and swipes at me. She is a wild animal. The other day, I was out and noticed a dead squirrel by the side of the road and I had to stop and take a close look. Luckily, that same day, Booby showed up. Phew, she hadn't been hit by a car. I've gone away for weeks and I worried that she would have left and wouldn't return. But, she came back. Food is her motivation, I'm sure. She'll sit on the railing or she'll come up to the window and look inside. Hey, come on, I'm waiting, she seems to say. I've written a novel and Booby is in it. She's part of my life story now.
Years ago, a squirrel used to visit my house every day. They would knock on the window to let us know they were there. They came for Brazil Nuts and would sit on the window sill, holding onto our fingers whilst they ate one or two nuts. The squirrel was so gentle holding onto a finger. If we were going to be out at their usual time for visiting, we would open the window and shake the container of nuts. They would come running. They came for 3 to 4 years. Winters are mild where I live, and so they would come most days.
You are one lucky duck to have a special squirrel friend! Whenever I see squirrels mentioned on UA-cam I go straight to them and watch. So many people as lucky as you out there. Have you ever watched “Squirrelympics”? It’s so clever and funny!🐿❤😂
Squirrels normally don't come near humans. They are too scared, and cautious, and cannot be pets. They trust only special people like you who have a golden heart.
Winnipeg as in CANADA!! Is A Dynamic Squirrel!! She just LOVES Her Mom!! She is completely awesome and adorable looking!! Just a beautiful furry friend to have around!!❤😊!!
How lucky Geraldine was to have new friends move in. Geraldine might have given her baby the territory and moved away. You should offer Winni some toys to play with when she is with you such as a small ball or small plush.
I had many squirrels in my backyard that I loved to feed and could even pet some of them. Now all of them are gone. My neighbours trap them and release them a mile away in the park because they say that they are ruining their lawns, flowers and fruit trees. I really miss them.
So cute!!! I love feeding them as well, but I have heard peanuts are not good for them as food, only as snack. Amazon sells wildlife food mixed in packs that I purchase, just FYI.
He likes you because he knows where to get an easy meal. When living in Seattle we had a lot of squirrels. After they got used to me feeding them they had no problem coming inside. They figured out where the nut bowl was so it was moved inside a cabinet. Freaked Mom out when the first one crawled up her pant leg to get a peanut out of her hand. Forgot to tell her about the new trick I taught them.
My dad kept peanuts and various nuts by the back door and the squirrels would climb on the deck and we would hand them food. Every summer when the new babies were born momma squirrel would bring them to introduce us and every single time a baby first grabbed from my hand I got bit. Nothing serious - I don't remember the skin ever being broken and they never bit a second time. I always figured it was their way of saying, "Don't mess with me and break the trust."
Special relationship - sounds like your heart is searching for a special relationship with someone and this is a prelude to what you could have with your someone. Great Video!
Winnipeg and Georgina are so gorgeous and cute and bless you for feeding and helping look after them 😻❤️❤️❤️! This story actually reminds me of Elsa in the "born free" films where Elsa got used to humans and used to return to her human home even after she went into the wild, then brought her cubs round to the 2 people who raised her but then sadly passed away from natural causes not long after, leaving the 2 people who looked after her (Joy and Adam I believe) to try and bond with and look after her young cubs in her place. I am so sorry to hear that Georgina disappeared and probably sadly passed away though ❤️.
They are cute, but the part of the UK I live in is a Red Squirrel conservation area and Greys are under a death sentence. Most other areas they are safe and thrive.
@@Cara-hm2tl I agree, but Greys kill Reds where and when they find them and that has people truly worked up. The grey is not native to the UK brought in from America, and so in a conservation area like this area they are seen as pests. The two places where Reds thrive are the Lake District where I am and the Isle of Wight, the Greys have the rest of the UK. I don't think there's even a plan in place to relocate greys if they are found in the conservation area, its just a shoot on sight policy sadly
@@dandy193 True, although none of that is the greys fault (it was ours for bringing them over). As far as I am aware, the greys don't deliberately attack the reds but outcompete the reds for resources and can spread, I believe, squirrelpox, to the reds. There is a contraceptive alternative now that can humanly neuter the greys via chemicals in a nut paste rather than killing them I believe.
Well… it’s obvious Geraldine and Winnipeg are only coming for the food. Not sure it’s a good thing for these squirrels as if something bad was to happen to this lovely lady, or she has to move away, they will struggle to feed themselves in the wild…
True although safety and comfort could be other reasons. Again, that is sadly true although you could say the same thing about what happens to the animals of elderly people after they pass away.
Wild animals are wild animals, regardless of how cute they are. They can carry diseases like rabies, ticks, etc. Feeding them like this reduces their ability to forage for themselves. When humans reduce the fears in wildlife they will begin to be more invasive, and will be attracted to entering homes also. Cute maybe, bad idea, ver bad idea however.
When we open ourselves up to nature, there are so many infinite opportunities and possibilities! 💕

❤ I agree to you about being able to be part of the wild and nature because those people who don't care are destroying both very rapidly.
Beth, perfectly said.
I completely agree with you @Beth-zg6gb!

she's amazing

My squirrels are so spoiled. They love unshelled peanuts and will eat all day given the chance.
Cyril knows where the food is. Clever Cyril. 🐿

They seem like such happy go lucky creatures. That's endearing how she's attracted to you ❤
She so precious 💕, you have won the lottery of squirrel world 🌍!!! God bless you....

It was funny to me when she said we kept some distance but her hand was out to her lol 😆
Charming and heart-warming to see these kinds of bonds forged between humans and animals. Thanks for the video!
Sweet 😁🐿️

Wonderful, truly
Ahh bless
Mysteries and nature - and - *kind, open replies. So much reward in this. I like you, Sophia.

Winni is SO cute! ❤️🐿
Love it! I have six squirrels and many birds that love the peanuts & sunflower seeds (both salted) and put out daily. Thanks for sharing 💕
I have about 15 squirrels in my back yard and they are acrobats. I call them pigrells
They eat all day long.
Wow so cute and beautiful 😍
You are so fortunate to have such a special bond with each other. ❤😊🤗
Lovely 😊🐿❤
Lil'' .. 🐒..monkey...😊 Sooo cute..
My name is Geraldine. Never heard of a squirrel called that before 😂😂. ❤
Super cute. So happy for the two of you. ☮️🐿

And consider introducing veggies and fruit into Winnie's diet, it's important 👍🙂

I can’t (peanuts) figure out why (peanuts) Winnipeg (peanuts) is so friendly (peanuts.).
Do not stop to feed Winnipeg because she is going to come agressive. My brother experienced that with a squirrel who was coming at her home each day.
This lady has to have a very warm personality ❤ 🥰

Why does most of the commentary sound like a question? 😵💫
Squirrels carry rabies
You're mistaken. Small mammals like squirrels almost never have been found to have rabies.
THANK YOU
Yah i love all this lovey dovey animal stuff but never forget their actions are conditional. No food, no love.
