That's not always a great idea-- some birds get territorial and can hurt other birds over their living space. I have kept birds (linnies too!) my whole life and especially female birdies can get like that, or when they're elderly and get used to having humans as their flock mates. Every birdie has their own unique personality, it's important to cater to that! If you can't give your birdie friend enough attention during the day though (at least 4 hours a day of undivided attention, and 8 hours of free roam around the house is a good indicator) it's good to get them a friend. Just try to introduce another bird to the flock when they're both still younger so they can get used to each other, and make sure they have separate cages they can retreat to.
Many things can happen if you do that. In many cases, the birds can lose interest in the human and favour spending time with each other. Territorial fights, and particularly jealousy fights, are dangerous. If birds seem to simply tolerate each other, then it is an incident bound to happen. You can own a bird of any species without extensive knowledge of their psychology and behaviour, but only in the case of a unique bird.

I got a lovebird fischer. 2 years ago, I was browsing an internet store for parrots and this one guy was selling this rather odd parrot, it was a fischer. At the time I didn't know any types except for macaws and cockatoos but the way the fischers had these white circles around their eyes was funny to me, so i bought her. My expectations went like this: She woul,d arrive, be afraid of me for a week or 2, she would sit in the cage until she got comfortable, then I train her to fly to me. None of these expectations were met... She came with a daring personality, when i put my hand near the cage she would charge at my fingers and attempt to bite and i did get bitten, those beaks are strong, so i let her sit in her cage for the day in my room then the following day, I let her out. The moment I opened the cage door she went flying out and landed on my head. She'd start playing with my hair then going for my ears, and after a week she would just like to sit on my shoulder and play with me, what she didn't like are my fingers. I don't know whether this was because the environment she was in or something but she hated fingers, you put them close and she bites so i never really got to touch her, i could only just let her be and act like she isn't there. I did try to get her to stop attacking my finger by putting on gloves (to protect my fingers) then start massaging her head with them, this helped a bit so I could pat her without gloves after it, and until now I can only do pat her head and massage her beak and I've decided thats good enough cause I don't know what she went through. ( Disclaimer she actually now likes head pats and beak massages, she even closes her eyes when i do it sometimes, usually when she doesn't like something she bites or moves away) Anyhow, I even got her to start kissing, just kept getting my lips bitten until she figured out my lips wont attack her and then she started doing it to me, she even comes over to my mouth just waiting for it to happen its just adorable. But there is one thing I don't get about her, she is crazy, she doesn't get afraid of any other bigger animals, I have a medium sized bird like 4 times bigger than her and she runs after it and bites it, I even have a cat, good thing shes a calm one cause one day I just walked in my living room and saw my fischer just sitting on the floor in front of the cat and what it looked like she was disciplining the cat cause she was literally screaming at her and the cat was just sitting there not doing anything, how it even happened? i forgot to close the cage properly so my fischer just opened the door on her own and flew out then decided to converse with the cat. Anyways thanks for reading about my crazy bird and have a good day.
Fischer's lovebirds are like that!!!! Love lovebirds, HUGE personalities, and yep, they can bully bigger, more timid species like cocktiels. Very funny parrots. 🦜 Yeah, a lot of pet store birds are traumatized by hands, they're used to seeing human hands swoop in and take away one of their siblings, never to be seen again... scary, upsetting sight. Their cute white rings around their eyes are so cute, they remind me of Doraemon. Cartoony looking.
We had a hen Budgerigar [Budgie] and I taught her to speak. She followed me everywhere in the house, knew exactly when I was getting home from work and would greet me at the door. My wife said that just before I got home, she would go sit on the couch, look out the window and wait for me. Unfortunately that love got her killed. I went to the pantry to get something but it was just out of reach so I went up on tip-toe. As I did, she went under my heal - well, you know what happened next! I was gutted. My wife and I had a wee cry over our Budgie. Truly, birds are quite remarkable and are much more intelligent than most people give them credit. They are also very loving.
Never heard of a Linnie, but he sure is beautiful! I once had a yellow parakeet and she was the sweetest thing. Her name was Tambo, she loved corn on the cob and she wouldn’t/couldn’t fly after an accident in which a quarter of her breast feathers and many under her wing were plucked out. They eventually regrew but she never flew after that. I could walk outside with her on my shoulder without fear of her flying away. I bawled like a baby when she died (and I was a grown woman in my 30’s)! 😢 🐤💔
Linnie is short for Lineolated Parakeet aka Barred Parakeet if you decide to look into them more. :) Tambo sounds perfectly precious. I love budgie parakeets. They have so much love and personality packed into that tiny little body! Losing them is tough but I'm glad we're able to share them with others in stories like yours about Tambo. ❤
I'm 76 years old and I have been bawling like a baby for 40 years over the many rabbits fish and my birds that have died usually several every year...I still have several birds many years even decades old...tears are no stranger to me...remember grief...is love with no where to go
OMG he reminds me a lot of Taco, my green cheek conure. He passed away Sept 2 2022 on my chest, sick and took a huge piece of my soul with him. I love and miss you Taco! I took him to the vet and they said it was already too late, to take him home and make him comfortable. Cherish your baby, you never know when that day will come and it will kill you. I now have 2 parakeets and a Quaker. It's STILL hard, I'm crying now typing this. You guys remind me a LOT of me and Taco, not trying to ruin or sadden anyone's day, just treasure your companion. If I could liken what I went through to anything it would be like that movie the Golden Compass where they separated your inner spirit animal to your person. It really truly almost killed me.
Absolutely! 🐾 It's incredible how our animal companions have a way of filling our lives with unexpected joy and companionship. Dipper, with his unique personality, has truly been a delightful surprise.
It's true that birds like that are usually very timid & need time to gain their trust. So I think Chris is very fortunate to find a tiny bird who's very confident & talks often too. ❤❤❤
My cockatiel didn't need any time to adjust, he was ready to be part of the family from the minute he came home. I was all ready to give him time to adjust to his new home but he had other ideas.😂
We have a spa here in Bangkok which is run by a canary called Happy. She looks (only in green) and behaves like Dipper. She is my “first” bird that I really encountered and I was also amazed to see a being that small having so much personality, wit, and love.

Chris had to figure this out on his own!! People knows what they like and what they don't!! Just like yourself and myself!! Always Remember That!!❤❤😊😊!!
You are such a lucky guy! Dipper reminds me of my Toshy. Toshy died almost 40 years ago, but I still think of him so often. You could talk to him, he understood a lot of words. He wanted to be everywhere with the family, liked to drive in cars and sat in his own armchair - even outside in nature. He flew away and got lost in the woods 3 times and still found his way back. At the end of his life, he liked to have a little beer with my father and then lay on his pillow, a little tipsy. I will never forget him, he was so unique.
I had a quarter and her name was lulu. She was so much fun and could say about 50 words. Ppl don’t understand how cute and smart they really are! Love your baby bird.

Thank you for your kind words! 💙 A Linnie is short for Lineolated Parakeet, a small and affectionate parrot species known for their gentle nature and vibrant colors.
This warms my heart. I've been in the avian field myself for 30+yrs now. Having hands on experience with everything from Warblers to Bird of Prey. And i've also owned or should i say BEEN OWNED by many different parrot species. My two current fids being a Senegal and Black Capped Conure. And it's true folks "Linnies" or Lineolated parakeets are typically very quiet easy going birds. But this does go to show everyone that each animal has it's own distinct personality. For example, my Senegal Parrot Kia is EXTREMELY quiet and pretty much a perch potato. You'd think she was a Pionus parrot more than a Poicephalus parrot. My Black Capped Conure Cricket is the complete opposite fun loving always ready to go. Very typical behavior of the Pyrrhura Conure family. This is a blue mutation Linnie as the dominant color is green. I have always felt the more you put into ANY animal the more you will get out of them. Parrots being extremely social animals need that kind of stimulation to thrive fully. And it's quite clear Dipper is getting that and then some from his owner. Being out of the cage and just with his owner is pretty much what most parrots want. They are birds after all and HIGHLY HIGHLY intelligent ones at that. They are not meant to be cooped up in cages and just forgot about. That's why i always advocate to people when they ask my advice. Make sure you do as much research on the given species your interested in. And to start small before you go big. Just because one talks or is more colorful doesn't mean it will be a better pet long term. Budgies are often underrated when it comes to their talking ability. So i would definitely start their before jumping right into owning a Green Winged Macaw or Moluccan Cockatoo. Two very large birds i would NOT recommend for beginners.
How cute and BLUE! I have an elderly friend whose kids decided to get her a sweet little pet. They chose a Quaker parakeet - feisty, bitey, sassy, but so much fun!
Yes and no. With some species (I don't know much about linnies), it can be tricky to introduce a second bird after the first is mature. I suggest getting two at the same time, if/when possible. Even if they start out good friends, you have to be prepared to have two cages and separate out-of-cage time if they (suddenly) don't get along. Birds who don't get along still offer companionship to each other by calling to and watching each other.
We got a linnie a year or so ago. They are super cool and fun. We know have 5. The talk and activity is really neat. They are quiet and yet super expressive and super intelligent .

I try not to cry by seeing this "gentle firecracker", he gets right under my skin, point there exact to my heart. Some day your firecracker has vanished, ... do not worry... I was there in the night and have stolen him, my 6 punks are already waiting for him.
In my country it‘s even required by law to have a companion for social animals like these. I think it‘s the right thing to do. Of course they should get along with each other.
If you get another bird this one could have less interaction with you. Some birds will even fall in love with their own reflection in a mirror & the same results. It ain’t broke don’t fixit!
He needs full wings too, left wing is clipped. 99,9% of the clips wouldn't have happened if he had a mate (i mean a bird) & the ability to fly... This birds life looks like fun (from a human perspective), but it isn't! Kind of sad that he complains about the Problem of stepping on his bird & he's the one cliping the wings.
Dipper made Chris part of his flock, whether he wanted it or not😉

( Disclaimer she actually now likes head pats and beak massages, she even closes her eyes when i do it sometimes, usually when she doesn't like something she bites or moves away)
Anyhow, I even got her to start kissing, just kept getting my lips bitten until she figured out my lips wont attack her and then she started doing it to me, she even comes over to my mouth just waiting for it to happen its just adorable.
This bird is beautiful.
Oh no😢I'm so sorry for your loss ❤
Oh that's so sad 😞 you can always look out for a surrender bird at a local animal shelter
Dipper is an adorable little feather boy 🥺😍❤️
He's almost too cute🥺
@@CuddleBuddiesChannel Definitely I love his breed of parrot too.
Tambo sounds perfectly precious. I love budgie parakeets. They have so much love and personality packed into that tiny little body! Losing them is tough but I'm glad we're able to share them with others in stories like yours about Tambo. ❤
I'm 76 years old and I have been bawling like a baby for 40 years over the many rabbits fish and my birds that have died usually several every year...I still have several birds many years even decades old...tears are no stranger to me...remember grief...is love with no where to go
@@fredholtzinger3761 Birds are wonderful. Had a blue budgie when I was younger and that little bird was a complete love-bug.
He is a darling, precious little soul!
he’s so much fun. that little guy is not just a pet, he’s a total companion. :) 🐦🌷🌷
You invited a bird into your life and were surprised it changed?
Bless your heart.
Thank God for the changes that surprise and bless us.
He is just so adorable.🥰
Thank you for sharing. The Daemon comparison is very beautiful way of seeing it. I'm glad Taco got to spend his life with you instead of someone else.

My GCC is 15 now and he is always with me when I’m at home. I can imagine losing him will be as you described 😢

What a sweet little bird, he looks so happy! He is a great bird dad 🥰
I love how we go on thinking we have an idea of what pet what need, then we get what the pet knows we need which is such a beautiful surprise ❤
Absolutely! And Dipper is fortunate to have such a caring family🥰
@@CuddleBuddiesChannel I agree...
Aaaaww truly melted me ❤ you two are definitely bonded. Have you ever thought about getting Dipper a little bird buddy? 🐦 🐦
Adorable!
You seem like a good man!
That bird is seriously adorable and beautiful!! I’m really glad he has you to care for him!
❤ he's super gorgeous, and you make a great pair, cracking good video thanks for sharing 🖤😎👍
🥰🐾
So cute how he sits on your shoulder he's gorgeous eating popcorn was so cute
🦜❤️
Chris might not of gotten the bird that he wanted, but when Dipper came along?? He was smitten with this adorable, cute, little guy!! Dipper is a great little blue bird!! Chris is SO LUCKY to have him in his life!!😊😊!!
He got the bird that he needed.
Chris had to figure this out on his own!! People knows what they like and what they don't!! Just like yourself and myself!! Always Remember That!!❤❤😊😊!!
Absolutely! 🌟 Dipper wasn't what Chris expected, but he turned out to be the perfect feathered companion.
What a beautiful sight to see!!
What a wonderful and heartwarming story! Thank you for sharing your experience with such an amazing bird.
He is a VERY beautiful shade of blue. I've not seen a bird (like I've seen sooo many birds) that colour. Cute too.
Thank you! 🌟 Dipper's stunning blue feathers make him truly unique.
Dipper is a treasure.🐦
He is indeed! Thank you for watching😃
I had a quarter and her name was lulu. She was so much fun and could say about 50 words. Ppl don’t understand how cute and smart they really are! Love your baby bird.
Such a cute little guy. And obviously fun. Can linnies talk? He has such strong voice considering his size. I've never heard of linnies. Time to do some research.
He says gimme kiss in the video! 😊
Their chirps are quite loud for how small they are! Dipper has a strong voice for his species though🐦
What a grand wee bird.
I wish you rainbows, mate.
God gives every bird his own personality......
Such an awesome Creator !
Absolutely! 🌈 Dipper's vibrant personality is truly a testament to the wonderful diversity of creation.
He is too cute!!! I'm not a bird person, but he is a bird I would LOVE ❤❤❤ Please enjoy your time together, he is too precious ❤️❤️🐦❤️🐦❤️🐦❤️
Oh boy! That is a handful of birb. Just be careful to not let him get into anything toxic or run around on the floor unattended.
Dipper is the first ever "blue" Linnet I've known of, but he is gorgeous & living a happy, healthy & loved life...If he can't live in the wild, this is a wonderful 2nd best! 😊Best wishes!!!
Such a beautiful color! He almost looks unreal💙 Thank you for your comment!😉

That bird is such a beautiful colour. I love animals with a certain huge character, shall I say. Chiuhuahuas are one of my favourite dog breeds for obvious reasons lol. I feed the wild birds in my garden & I’ve got to know each of their individual traits by heart, I love them all! 🙋🏻♀️🇬🇧
Thankyou for being careful you don't ever squash him
Life Changing Blue baby
Whats a Linnie, I have never heard of them?
Thank you for your kind words! 💙 A Linnie is short for Lineolated Parakeet, a small and affectionate parrot species known for their gentle nature and vibrant colors.
@@CuddleBuddiesChannel He's Gorgeous, and full of energy ❤
Thank you for giving Dipper a loving home where he is cherished!
He’s as cute as the bird. :)
What a beautiful little bird 💜 and the man has a beautiful heart and soul 💜
Beautiful blue color on Stinky
JUST MAKES YOUR LIFE SO MUCH RICHER......FOR REAL....
Get him a friend!!!
This is good advice!
Love this! He’s a beautiful color blue; and you’re so good with him.
He's a beautiful bird. Glad you are enjoying your best friend.
He is the cutest
Absolutely!💕
How cute and BLUE! I have an elderly friend whose kids decided to get her a sweet little pet. They chose a Quaker parakeet - feisty, bitey, sassy, but so much fun!
So...has Mother Nature shown you the neat trick she keeps up her sleeve called 'molting' yet ?
So cute. He looks a bit like a Robyn but is blue. I would like to get one as well 🥰🥰
Got another Linnie for him to play with, that'll help a lot.
This is good advice!
@@CuddleBuddiesChannel They live in flocks in the wild, probably feeling lonely which is why he's so clingy.
Beautiful color! Rare for me to see one this color! What a match sent from heaven
oh man, he's CUTE!!!!
He seemed really quiet to me, compared to other birds especially. Super cute though. ❤
When Dipper is on the side of the bowl collecting as much Popcorn as he can grab! Hahaha!
I think he's beautiful and would love a bird just like that!
I always thought birds needed a bird friend, like guinea pigs?
A bird saying This needs more salt is the equivalent of a person saying this needs more cyanide.
Also cute borb
thats my everyday life and im happy for u as well as a fellow bird lover ive budgies love birds and finches imagine what they do to me haha theyr lovely and im so proud of them
People are like that too. The small ones are the loudest.
Not familiar with large cockatoos, I presume.

I try not to cry by seeing this "gentle firecracker", he gets right under my skin, point there exact to my heart. Some day your firecracker has vanished, ... do not worry... I was there in the night and have stolen him, my 6 punks are already waiting for him.
That was one weird reply.
That is one adorable bird. Precious little thing.
I love this bird! Watching him makes me smile. And I don't even have to clean out his cage.
Cute! 😍😘🥰
He's adorable!! Please give him a kiss for me.
Please please get another bird for him. He needs that for his mental health.
@@bonnieabrs1003 I'm guessing the dude isn't at home 100% of the time... Anyways, birds are no pets. I hope it was a rescue.
@@bonnieabrs1003 Keeping a social animal alone just because you want them to interact with you more is cruel.
Dipper is absolutely adorable! 😍😍💖💖
Why does this bird look and feels like a rocket ready to go off
I thought he looked very much like a Budgie, and Google tells me that Linnie's are part of the parakeet family. Cute, and a lovely colour, too.
