- For many years, this cheeky little squirrel named Tintin and this beautiful black-and-white cat named Tiger have been best friends.
It all started one April afternoon in 2014 when Decan Andersen, a single father from Denmark, saw a baby squirrel fall from the fourth floor of his apartment building. The little guy had been badly injured in the fall and was bleeding on the ground in the middle of his yard.
The story of their friendship got off to a rocky start, and the cat was even a little hostile at first. Later it turned into a beautiful and unique relationship. Tiger became like an older brother or even a foster father to Tintin, always looking out for his little friend.

You are a very special person and dad, Decan. You are teaching your son so much by your example. Best wishes to all in your home.
A vet told me to put my cat down, he would never walk again he said he would never heal, I left his office with my cat, clearly in pain, unable to walk or eat. I took the x rays home with me. I prayed over my cat, fed him, gave in drink in minute amounts constant and a month later he showed some improvements. It was hard putting him through all this and hard on me as well. But he survived and began to eat on his own and not only did he regain the use of his legs, he ran. I had him another 7 years. Vets have a thing about putting animals down and grated there are cases where it may be needed. But I was not putting down my cat just because he couldnt walk or use the litter pan. Nor because he would not eat. Did he suffer while he was healing ? Yes. But when he got better he hardly left my side and followed me everywhere as he had done before. I think he had a beautiful life.
Tough call…could be that the cat lived but in pain for months or years. They can’t communicate the pain or lack of pain.

I kinda jealous because I was broken home, and I once ended up in a very bad criminal circles 10 years ago.
but since I found a very sick cat infront of my door and take care of it, I change a lot and I slowly turn into a better person.

We've had rabbits, geese, dogs and a cat. Whenever one died, we felt it important to physically present the body to the others, so that they would understand why their friend was no longer around.

YES!! We do the same with our cats - animals understand what death is and they won't worry and stress over where did my buddy go?! They may still be sad and miss a friend, but it's different than the unknown confusion. In this way I think they are much like humans.

Denmark's animal authority committee made an exception to letting Decan's family keep Tintin as a pet was heartwarming. The earlier times on his leash gave him "training" to stay close to CoCo and Tiger. Now Ms Marbles has become a companion but probably Tintin does miss the former cats. Such a sweet story.🐈🐈🐿🐈🐾💜💚💙🧡

Yes its a real story. I have been following their instagram and youtube channel for many years. Deacan has saved so many baby squirrels and set them free and they always come back to visit him. Tintin is the only squirrel that did not want to go and live in the woods. He wanted to stay with Deacan and the cats.

Lately, I made friends with these little critters.
I give peanuts to my chipmunk friends. Then 3 squirrels would join in the feast along with 3 crows and two rabbit friends.
My front garden is filled with these little guys when it comes to feeding time.
I love them.
During the Summer season they are around - but come Winter time - they are sleeping in their warm little home.
No wonder the earlier days of Disney movies made them look so cute. When I was much younger, I thought ALL little critters behaved this way. This kinda made me feel how nature works with us and how we love our little friends.
It is said, that God watches over us - I am sure He watches over his little creations as well.

Tin-tin, remind me of my cat. He took care of every animal he saw. He took them in for a meal. It was squirrels, birds, rabbits and so on. Where they injured, I had to take care of them. My cat was black &white. He was modest, carrying and feel love for nature. People didn't treat him well so I had to take him to de veterinary almost every day. He died in 2010 the 22 of december. 🐈⬛🙏❤ Miss him every day. ❤

What a beautiful story, animals are amazing. Also, if you find a baby animal abandoned/hurt and decide it needs care, don't forget to call your local wild life rehab center to find out what to do and where to take it. Most infants cannot survive being released back into the wild, since they cannot learn directly from their mothers, but in this case it's so good to see it all worked out wonderfully.
This story is bittersweet. Filled with kindness, hope, new life and death. I now forgive the squirrels who stole my fries at the park and threw acorns at me from the tree I thought I was going to enjoy my lunch under.

I know, my second dog lived all my 14 years, when he passed by, my two new dogs come to my life after 1 month, every day i thanks God to have been blessed with these 2, every day i thank you God to both my first and second dogs in my life and wish they protect my two new dogs. Today they have maded 11 years old and i hug them like the first day and thanks that i can see them another day in my life 🎉 everyday is an blessed day with them😊

Decan did exactly all the right things to save this baby squirrel, including waiting for the Mom to decide whether to accept him or not. But, it must have been very hard for Decan to wait and watch the baby squirrel while it was in pain. It’s a wonderful case of human and animal love, I’m just sorry the cat passed away. That’s the only thing I don’t love about cats, they just aren’t with us long enough! I still grieve for every one of my cats and dogs that died decades ago. I worry about “my” local squirrels falling, but I’ve seen them fall 50 feet from trees and catch a branch just above the ground, without injury. These little daredevils are amazing. I’ve lived in the same house for 35 years and seen many generations of these little guys from the same family. God will requite Decan’s kindness and compassion to these helpless animals!

I saw a tiny little thing running to me in my yard and saw it was a grey squirrel which ran up my leg! I held her for a second then she scrambled up a tree. I called Marin Ca. Wildcare and they came and got her after I fed 3 droppers of rice milk..
3 months later they brought her back and released her in my yard.healthy and strong.
I live close to Marin Wildcare, they’re wonderful. My Mom, at my request, answered their call for knitted birds’ nests, I don’t know how to knit. It was the best I could do and she was happy to help, too.🙂
