As someone who has never held a polisher much less used one, that was THE most helpful video I've ever watched! Papa, I appreciate not only that you shared the "how to's," but you also shared your thought process behind what pad/cream you used. Man, that was so helpful! Now to save up some money and buy the equipment and a practice panel and get with it! Thanks so much again for the time, energy, and knowledge you put into this! Looking forward to the next video!
Thank you so much man! Really makes me happy that this was helpful! That was my goal! 👍 if you have any other questions along the way don't hesitate to ask. Keep me posted when you get your stuff together and ready to start! Appreciate your kind words! Take care my friend!👍👍🤝
In my younger days I did this all by hand and it took forever, I really like that you used inexpensive tools and products that people can afford and made it work, excellent video my friend 👍😁
Thanks Dave! I attempted to by hand but quickly realized that it was not gonna happen haha. Definitely wanted to use stuff everyone can get there hands on. Appreciate you tuning in my friend!🤝
I used to do it by hand as well! I loved Zymol wax! Hd cleanse was My pre-wax cleaner. I eventually bought a Cyclo polisher (I had two at one point as I had a friend helping on a few cars) which still works well! My go to is a 2009 Flex 3401! What a beast!!!
One of the best instructional detail videos I've ever seen, As someone who's been detailing for approximately 15 years I can tell you you have left no stone uncovered. Methodical systematic approach!! This is definitely going to help somebody who feels intimidated with the polisher. Good video Brother, 🤜🤛 👍
Thanks brother!!!!! That really means a lot. Was kind of nervous since it's a touchy subject 😬. Hoping that it does help someone looking into getting into polishing! 🤙🤝
Well done Eric you couldn’t have explained it any better great job. 👍🏻👍🏻🇨🇦 I was just thinking I hope he says don’t chase perfection and low and behold you mentioned it good on ya. Look forward to the next one.
Thank you, Ken! Was a bit nervous on the subject cause it's a touchy one! So much information I wanted to make it easy to understand. I'll be doing more vids like this too. Appreciate you tuning in and taking the time to watch!🤜🤛🤝
This is a great way to teach how to polish and paint enhance a vehicle. This is a great Polishing 101 video and cannot wait for more! Great job, Smurf!
All of this information that you are sharing is spot on, I learned machine polishing by watching the Junkman2000 years ago, I then got brave enough to purchase the harborfreight 8mm da which I converted to the 5" right off the bat. You are an awesome teacher PapaSmurf, never let anyone tell you anything different from that!!!!!
Thank you so much man. I really appreciate that!!! 🤝🤜🤛 my harbor freight is still going strong hahaha. Thanks for tuning in and supporting! Take care my friend!🤙
I was going to over committ by going right into an aggressive cut first, but you have really good advice on going with a less aggressive method first to achieve desired results. Again, thanks for this tutorial!
Great video Papa🌮 When I started in the early 80's I didn't even know of the microfiber towels until many years later I was in love😍 Microfiber towels have come a long way since then. This is great for the beginner👍👍👏👏
Great content and your attention to detail will help with clear coat problems. The product selection was good. Keeping things basic and simple is necessary. Thank You.
Thank you! I appreciate you taking the time to watch! 👍👍 simple and basic was my goal. Trying to not over complicate the process. If you have any other questions feel free to reach out!🤝 take care!
Nice tutorial for beginners. I started with these products, still use them today, and they work just fine. One item I do disagree with on is about being a “professional”. Once you get paid for work you are considered a professional. Now just because you don’t do it as your main resource for income (or part time) doesn’t change the fact. However there are levels of professionalism such a novice, intermediate, and master (yeah some may argue the wording, semantics) but I think I have made my point. I don’t know of any job that when a person starts is a master at it, perhaps there is but I can’t think of any. Also don’t forget to remind people about safety items such as eye protection and wear gloves, after all these are chemicals we’re dealing with‼️ Anyway I’ll get off my soap box and say I look forward to seeing the next video 👍✌️☮️
I appreciate your insight my friend! I mean, I just say that I'm not a professional just cause I'm not 🤷♂️ I feel that label is strong when it comes to detailing you know? I'd get bashed for calling myself a professional detailer lol. Now, I can definitely say I'm a professional mechanic 🤣 lol. There are definitely different levels of " pro " I hear you brother. Safety for sure. See, I knew I was going to forget. I was a but nervous if you couldn't tell. My first style video like this.. always appreciate you tuning In an supporting 🤜🤛🤝
Great video. I personally loved that you were winging it in real life. That’s what a lot of us are doing. I am. My car is as bad as the 3rd one in your video but my car has no shine to the paint anymore. I did start real light last week and have been working my way up to stronger products. Today I bought Greots compound to try. McGuire s ultimate didn’t “cut it” and I was afraid of using their 105 So I’m now using greots and I love the stuff. it’s so creamy and so easy to wipe off. My paint is so dull and filled with swirl marks. A neglected car. Finally with the greots and a heavy cutting pad I see a shine! I’m so excited to get back to it tomorrow. I may even rewatch this in it’s entirety.
Denise, thank you so much. So awesome to hear you are getting some results!!! As well as I'm sure, having fun! Just wanted to make a video that isn't intimidating to some... I'm no every day detailer but I want to encourage others! I can't thank you enough for taking the time to tune in to my video. Please, if you need anything.. don't hesitate to reach out!👍✊️
Thanks man! Wanted to do full uncut but my gopro said NOT TODAY! lol appreciate you taking the time to watch and I hope it's a beneficial video. Take care!🤜🤛🤝
That was a fantastic video! Very well done. It's a gem for all the beginners that tune in. Folks I was a beginner too, and tuned into Papa smurf channel year and a half ago. Everything he says is right on. You will be amazed what you can do! Hey.....keep video right next to you while you polish as a reference. Yeah there's alittle fear at first, but the success you'll have changes all that. Super video Smurf!!!
Kim this is AWESOME. Hearing that make me feel great! Your support is greatly appreciated and I'm glad I was able to help! I'm aiming to do more of these style videos to help more. Seems a pad cleaning video is requested highly hahaha. Kim, thank you SO much. Take care my friend!!!!🤝
Thanks Tim! 👍 I'm hoping that those who really watched an listened got some good information here. Although I left a bunch out I'm gonna try to be better in the next!
Hey big thank you to this vid because I bought the G9 along with the corrective/perfecting cream and did my Truck which turn out super great. Followed this vid and did everything you stated. I painted cars in the late 70’s early 80’s and learned to buff but man did I realize I needed to go back and learned so I acted like I knew nothing and followed your advice in this vid, so Thank You.
Hey man, thank you so much! I could imagine the paint an body world has changed a bit.. glad this video was helpful my friend. Thank you for taking the time to watch!👍👍🤙🤜🤛
New subscriber here, I’m so grateful to stumble upon this clip. I have an 06 EVO, garaged kept….she’s my gem. The car is in mint condition. But I will say I have never machine polished or clay barred the car, I have been seriously afraid of the words , scratching, marring, and burning when it comes to those 2 steps in detailing. I haven’t checked all your clips yet but hoping you have a motivational one for claying. 2 minutes into this clip I already feel somewhat confident your info is going to be priceless. Especially for me, the weekend driveway professional lol
Keith! Appreciate you taking the time to watch! 06 Evo?? Very nice! Love those! I own a 98 GSX 😎👍 I'm glad you feel more comfortable with Polishing due to my video. I'm here to help ANY way I can. I don't have a Clay video out yet but I'll gladly walk you through or even make a video about decontamination! Please reach out here or on Instagram at Papasmurf918detail... email at Papasmurf918detail@gmail.com I'd be honored to help you get the Evo looking amazing!!🤙🫡🤜🤛
I really like the Griot's one step cream. So easy and saves a ton of time. I just got a Milwaukee M18 DA polisher. I just need to get the pads and I'm good to go but I'll wait until Spring to do it. I've done my Dodge Challenger R/T in the past so I'm not a newbie.
Griots 1 step is phenomenal. They new ceramic all in one is great as well. Gotta try it! Oh man, I want that new Milwaukee sooo bad!!!! Is it as nice as it looks??
Thank you! Glad you found it helpful! 😃 That's a great question. 🤔 I should probably make a followup video 😂 but, been just crazy busy with life lately!
Michael, awesome man I'm glad it was helpful! If you have ANY other questions man feel free to ask brotha!!!🤜🤛 I appreciate you taking the time to watch!🤝
The orange light cutting pad is my fav and my go-to pad for 80% of the jobs I do. I’m amazed at what I can accomplish with an orange pad and Sonax Perfect Finish.
I found no difference using a white chemical guys hex logic vs an orange hex logic pad using Perfect Finish on My Mom's Subaru yesterday. I decided to use a white pad seeing it's only a year old, and was darn near flawless. I also like the least aggressive method to achieve satisfying results! The paint glows!
@@J1Z06 Least aggressive is always a great start 👍 no point in using the softer pad if results are not any different. Nothing like some flawless paint!!!
@@PapaSmurf918Detail The white pads still feel stiff... not quite as stiff as an orange pad. Funny, I used to love Menzerna SIP/Orange, then Nano/White for corrections! 2009 days! Times have changed!
Great video Eric. You covered all the bases and this is a perfect video not only for beginniers but even for more experienced people b/c we all forget the basics some of the time. Its all here. You may have to watch it a couple of times to fully understand that...but it is all here. Great job and thanks for taking the time to do this video. And, Griot's is a great place to start IMO and for most weekend or part-time warriors is more than you will ever need. And your comments about their polishes not dusting etc. is spot on. They make great stuff by and large and they are my "go to" company for the basics and then some. See you again soon. Bravo!!!!
Hey man thank you so much!!!! Really appreciate you taking the time to watch and support. 🤝 all the positive feedback drives me to do more of these as I wanna help spread the knowledge as best as possible! Griots is for sure a great company and there polishes and compounds are phenomenal 👍 take care my friend!🤜🤛
I am familiar with the GG Boss ecosystem, but what stood out in this video was at 50:55 - chasing stubborn imperfections, each pass removes clear. I’ve been feeling defeated removing hard water etching & swirls on a ‘hard’ 05’ bmw m3 clearcoat. I gotta take it lighter and not chase perfection, it just brings unnecessary stress. I feel lighter after watching this video - I’m ready to go back at it right now, I’ll make sure to zoom out and appreciate how much better 80% correction looks. A macro look vs a micro look. Especially for a 190k heavily driven car. Much thanks again!
That's the most important lesson... is not to chase perfection! It does NOT exist! And the more people realize it the better. Also. Our eyes. .the " eagle eyes " I call it.... people don't have! So what you see 9 times out of 10 they " customer " will not see... having fun... providing results.. learning... it's what it's all about my friend! Can't thank you enough for taking the time to watch!
What a great video! Thoroughly explained, all the necessary info and tips! Great job!! You're consistent! I have a 3401 with a 6" backing plate.... I'm going to the 5" with 5.5" pads as You use. I'm old school (I turn 51 Friday) and really have to tell Myself "small sections, two passed l/r, two passes u/d. Do You use a pad per panel? That's the method a lot of people like. I picked up a Rupes light for inspection. Works well. Also, Costco towels are perfectly fine! I've used them lots of times. Thank You for sharing this fine video with us!
Thanks Jay!! Aw man age ain't nothing but a number brother!!! I use 2 pads usually for a whole car. Always blowing out pad after each pass.. after I'd say hood and fenders I'll clean out the pad and spin dry it then put a fresh pad on.. pretty much repeat that process. By the time I need the other pad it's dry🤜🤛 been doing this method since I started really haha. Works for me! NO thank YOU for watching and supporting!
Good job bro! I'm with you on the two pads i use two to cut and two to polish and definitely blowing them out in-between, i do switch up now and then more pads more cleaning them out just depends on the vehicle!
Thanks man! We're alike! Yes, I do the same as well. I appreciate you taking the time to watch. I know it's a ton of talking. I tried to make it short but yeah, that didn't work 🤣
Awesome vid. Really helped me not be as nervous about getting into DA's. You kept saying you were going to get bashed by keyboard warriors. Don't worry about them. Ignore them if it's not a legitimate complaint. If they think they can do a better tutorial, maybe they should try. Remember, "don't feed the trolls".
Appreciate that man!!✊✊ yeah your absolutely right! Glad this video was helpful! Thanks for taking the time to watch!! If you have any other questions feel free to reach out man!🤜🤛🤝
after watching your video and doing a bit more research I went out and bought a Griot's Garage G9 Random Orbital Polisher . Thanks, for a very informative video.
Hey Ron! That's great my friend. Appreciate you tuning in to the vid! ✊️ Please, if you have any other questions feel free to ask. If I can help, I will. 🤙
Great job Eric. You've stirred the waters. Hope all the newbies. Take the plunge. Harbor Freight cheap DA is still a great polisher for beginners. 👍🏻👍🏻
Thanks brother! Was nervous for some reason hahaha. Harbor freight is definitely a good one from what I've heard. I've not yet used The Bauer ones though. Lol I didn't wanna say there good without using one!😅😅 I'm hoping I get 1 person to take the leap!! Appreciate you watching my friend!
Thank you so much man! Really appreciate you taking the time to watch! Feel free to reach out whenever! If I can help, I will do my absolute best! 🤝🤝🤝👍
This is one of the best newbie polishing videos I’ve ever seen Eric. I’ve polished a few cars but I learned a great deal from your approach and your great tips. I feel like I’ll be more confident and go after it a bit more aggressively- Thanks a bunch! BTW, the video wasn’t too long plz don’t apologize for that; every second was worth it.
Cynthia, thank you so much! I was trying to not make it overwhelming to those starting out. It's sooo much fun and it's simple! Glad this was helpful. If you ever need anything feel free to ask! I'm no pro, but I help when and where I can!🤜🤛
Just subscribed. Haven't ever touched a da before, but I just got a Wen 5". My brother bought me a bottle of Farecla 360 to use with it.I have some rough looking paint on the roof of my black truck, going to tackle it first.
Randy, thank for the sub!!! Appreciate you taking the time to watch this video! Great to hear your going to tackle your car! Don't overthink it just have fun and you'll be just fine. If you have any questions don't hesitate to reach out my friend! 👍✊️🤝
Nice video. Great tips for beginners. One question - you mentioned at the beginning of the correcting section that you had not yet done anything to the panel but you had 3 sections of distinctly different paint conditions. Just curious as to how you managed to find that panel.
Thank you! I appreciate you taking the time to watch ! This panel is picked up from a body shop. I purposely put swirls an imperfections in with a stiff bristle brush to get the 3 stages of imperfections just to help distinguish the 3 levels.
This video was amazing! I'm looking into getting into polishing for my detialing business next summer and thinking of offering a paint enchaement package. I will get a test panel and order my stuff and practice over the winter. I also watched your other polshing video with the uro 50/50 pad. Keep up the amaizng videos. Very informative. 👍👍
Hey Anthony, I really appreciate that man!!!! Thank you so much. It's definitely something you should add in to provide for your clients.. it's super simple and can really take your business up a few notches! Once again, thank you and take care my friend!🤜🤛👍
Great video. I have watched many videos of yours. Was just like you hesitant to buy polisher. Started with harbor freight myself. Did my wife’s and my own car. Both 2008 so not the best of shape. So I didn’t 100% correct them but I definitely enhanced them. Look way better, more shine. Couple stragglers but I can live with it. Hooked for sure. Enough stuff to open up shop but not my intention s. Just a weekend warrior
Thanks Patrick! Yup! That's how it starts then boom! Full blown retail store of inventory 😂 it's so addictive.. few stragglers you can I've with after a good transformation 👍 appreciate you taking to time to watch my Friend 🤜🤛🤝
Really appreciate you putting together this video and the time and effort that went into it. This is what I was looking for to get off the sidelines and put some work in on my paint. Extremely helpful and informative. Needed to see the G9 in action with some lighter polishes/pads to know thats what I need. Keep up the good work!!
Kvon, thank you! I'm glad this was helpful for you man! That's what I'm here for to encourage others and help whenever and wherever I can! ✊️🤙 it's so much fun and also, addicting! LOL I appreciate you taking the time to watch! 🤝
@@PapaSmurf918Detail I was I was driving home from work tonight I was thinking about what I learned from your video and how it will really change the way I work on people's daily drivers. @Eric Mann that's awesome man! 👌 you'll absolutely kill it! 🤙🤙🤙 To be honest I'd rather do a basic paint enhancement all day over a full correction. Most people will be JUST fine with an enhancement! No problem man! Oh your going to love that pxe80.. I LOVE MINE!!! APS Extensions are a must🤙 lmk if you have any other questions. You know where to find me👌🤝
Solid bro! Honestly, it was honestly great to see some experimenting. I’ve see great results with Fast Correcting Cream and I was curious how Correcting Cream compared. Also really great that you started off with the Polish which is typically a last step in a Paint Correction so it was interesting to see what happens when you first use Polish and then use that. I’ve def thought about it.
Thanks man! I absolutely LOVE FCC! But, for a beginner it's not something I'd jump right into haha. Starting with a polish is always recommended though. If you can achieve results with a light approach that's key. 🤙 if not can always bump up. Can't go back once you cut with a compound ya know? Just trying to make it simple for the first timers😎👍🤝
Thank you for the advice!! But,please stop apologizing!!! If you make a mistake or forget something,it’s ok! We’re watching you bc we make mistakes & forget many things. 😃
Dude! That's was close to perfection! Absolutely smashed a home run!!! Polishing is a very opinionated subject and I liked how you tried to divert the noob away from confusion. You guys do these things, then you'll see your paint come alive and that is really a lot of fun! Papa gave you guys an affordable and safe set of guidelines. Then maybe tweak something small and do your experimenting. Kirkland towels are just fine. Rags are very opinionated. And you will spot the snobs out there. There's plenty to go around. 🤣Perfect, dude!
Jeff, thank you Mt friend!! Just trying to encourage 👍🤙✊ and no overwhelm people.. at first that's how I was, so it's only right by me to help!😎 so much fun polishing and getting phenomenal results.. I sincerely appreciate you taking the time to watch and comment, brother!!! Hope all is well and take care!🤝
Awesome video and tutorial good friend. Awesome job.i feel haters will have some bs to whin about.imo those people either dosnt have the balls 2 make a video or even touched any paint in there life.keep doing you brother
Thanks Richard! 👍 oh there will always be those to whine haha. I already know this! Hey, if I can encourage ONE person than I'm happy my friend. Thanks again for the continued support. Really means a lot brother. Take care!!!
Fantastic video . Only thing I would like to add is that clear coat is not thick like a piece paper but actually even slimer than a cigarette pack wrapping . Brian from Apex said it in one of his videos ...
This is true. I didn't mean it as in its exactly like a piece if paper lol. It's thin... is what I was getting at haha. Appreciate ya tuning in! I heard Brian say this on one of his vids so I referenced it lol.
Thank you! Appreciate you taking the time to watch! Yes. After polishing follow up with a panel prep of your choice. I reach for Peleus from PhoenixEOD.. then apply whatever form of protection you desire👍👍
Very helpful video for someone looking to begin polishing starting on my wife’s car lol. With that said if you start with orange pad and correcting cream. Would you say a step 2 black pad and perfecting cream is necessary?
Thank you for taking the time to watch! I'm glad you enjoyed. That being said, no. After the orange pad and correction cream you SHOULDN'T need to go to a black pad and perfection cream. You CAN though. For that extra bit of gloss, OR if your on a soft black paint... you may need to finish out with the black pad and perfecting cream.
Exellent video! Question for you: everybody talks about the Griot's G9 but I'm wondering how the G15 is, have you tried it? i'm saying that because I hear a lot of good things about griot's polishers and the G15 would be a direct competitor to Rupes' LHR15, thoughts?
Thank you! I appreciate you taking the time to watch 👍 as far as the G15 u haven't used it. I did get the G21 a while back and I wasn't a huge fan. It's very powerful yes just not smooth with a microfiber pad and having to change the backplate bolt with 3 different ones seems like to much work to think about when polishing. The G9 is very comfortable and powerful. Although a smaller throw, I prefer it. Especially for someone just getting into polishing 👍👍
Nice job, Eric. I have the G9 and G8 and they work great for me, as an enthusiast. Can you make a video on changing the brushes in the polisher? I haven't done that yet. I appreciate you making this video, as always I learned a lot from you.
So should I put the swirls on the canvas first or should I just hit the fast forward button ? 🤔 What if I have a white pad but dyed it black and made it stiffer is that cool too 🤔
Great job Eric! My best guess is that you needed to get rid of some of the old polishes. You know we all have this problem. I'm going to donate my semi expired polishes and compounds. Great idea for a video. See you next time!
Rob, thank you man! Pad cleaning video coming up. You as well as others have been requesting. Plus I've got about 10 pads to clean so! Say no more! Thanks for watching🤜🤛🤝
Awesome man! Thank you so much! Just one question; I know it will depend on the car’s paint but, how long would you say will take to do an entire car? Again, thank you so much and keep them coming. 👍
@@PapaSmurf918Detail just finished. Great video for us beginners! A few questions to start. Is it pretty much a necessity to have a paint light? How do you check your work of you don’t have a garage and have to work outside? Can you give some tips on working outside in the sun? Can you use these same combinations on headlights and tail lights? If you don’t have an air compressor what’s the easiest/fastest way to clean the pads? If there is already a paint sealant on the car, what would you recommend to remove that before you start this process? (A lot of durability tests I’ve seen show that the sealants are very durable now and a regular “strip wash” will not remove them) 🤷🏼♂️
Thank you for putting up with such a long video man! Let's answer those questions Do you NEED paint light. No... do I highly recommend it? Absolutely... it's designed to mimic sunlight and using a regular flash light can be really hard to see... I tried to use regular lights and finally got the astro pneumatic 50sl... soooo much better. When out in direct sun your paint light is still effective 👍👍 Can you use the same polishes on headlights and taillights? Absolutely can polish them out. Just keep in mind plastic can not dissipate heat as quickly as metal can so don't stay in one spot to long 🤙 Cleaning pads? Easiest way, grab some dawn dish soap pre soak them for a little then use your hands and rub them out under a faucet until ALL the soap is out. Spin on polisher to get water out and set to dry 👌 Tips for working in sun... Work fast!!! Lol I try my best no too. But, if need be get a good quality soap like Adam's shampoo, carpro reset.. ect... and when washing leave the soap on the car as when it dries its better than just water as it reactivate and rinse away. Cover the front windshield with 2 big towels to shade the interior to keep it cool. If a vehicle has a paint sealant or protection I will grab my POORBOYS WORLD STRIPDOWN!!! 100% would recommend it for a strip wash. Hasn't failed me yet.. true Si02 and Graphene spray coatings are more resistant to a high ph soap that's designed to strip and will take a few washes to rid it, if it's fresh. These strip wash soaps are designed to work on old waxes and sealants.. the Poorboys has knocked down some pretty fresh stuff for me but is NOT a soap. Hope these help man!!!!!
@@PapaSmurf918Detail thanks for the info bro! Would you go over door handles at the same time you are doing the rest of the door panel? I’ve seen some people find dried up polish or compound in the cracks of their car. Is that normal or are they doing something wrong? Do you check the depth of the clear coat before you do any kind of paint enhancement/correction?
Anytime man!!!! Yup, I do if they are painted handles. I just be diligent when wiping off to make sure I get the polish out of cracks before it dries! 👍 and as far as checking depth.. I've NEVER checked as I do not have a paint depth gauge. If a paint looks funny to you. Trust your gut and stay VERY light when approaching.
Awesome video, gained a new subscriber:) Wanted to ask how many pads you use on one car? And do you wash the pads right after each 1x polished section you do? Or do you keep the same pad through the car and wash it only when it’s done?
Thank you for the Sub!!!! As far as how many pads, I typically use 2 pads. I will blow out the pad everytime I lift it off a panel. Then, after a few panels for example the hood an maybe a fender or.2 I'll remove it and clean it, spin it dry and set it down to dry. I'll then put my 2nd pad on my polisher and continue 👍 I'll continue that process and cycle through 2 pads. Keep in mind I know it's not time saving haha, if I had to a job I needed to get done faster I'll use more pads. 👍👍
Thanks brother continues 👌 What iam asking for can I purchase a Adam's swirl killer mini 12mm with 3 inches pads , for whole my car Toyota avalon 2016 white pearly , it's nearly to my budget it's comes as a kit with polishing pads and compound and a polish, also I see it's will be little slower process but it's will be achieved all smaller area without purchase another machine for detailing, whats your thoughts 🙏
Hey my friend! Hmmmm that's a tough one man.. using a 3" polisher is definitely doable.. as you said, will take a while! But it's possible. If it doesn't have many really tight spots a 5" us definitely able to do a whole car as well. It's a tough call, I'd probably go for a 5" polisher to be honest. Just gotta manipulate the polisher a bit and you'll be fine👍 either way you'll get it done. Lmm what you decide to do🤜🤛
"Quick final thoughts segment." - smurf "Bullshit." - me Lol love you Smurf. I think this is going to be a great series and I'm looking forward to more. I just picked up the Koch Chemie series of polishes and they are amazing.
You should know me and quick don't go together 🤣🤣🤣 man... it's hard for a smurf out here!!! Hahaha!! Oh man, I really wanna jump into the koch lineup.. maybe after I purge some products lol
Love the reviews. I had a quick question. I have been using a Porter Cable from Griot's for over 20 years....lol. i really want to upgrade. I thought I wanted the G21 but after seeing your review I have kind of moved away from that one. If you had to pick one would you go with Max Shine, Shinemate, Flex or Rupes? Thanks in advance.
Thank you so much! I'd definitely go with the Shinemate ex620 15mm 👍 for the price and what you get it's really tough to beat!!!! I'f you have the money for a flex maybe a flex but, that's a lot of money haha I've even extremely happy with my shinemate unit!!! I hope this helps!
I don't have a lot of extra money for that Griots G9 and griots pads. I have a hart buffer from Walmart the other week and I have microfiber terry cloth pad covers. If I if I do everything you saying this video but I just use my Walmart buffer with the microfiber pads will I be able to get results till or do I need to get that stuff?
Nathan, you don't NEED these exact things. You can still get great results 🤙 however the Terry cloth pad covers are not ment for defect removal. What size is the buffer??? Harbor freight has pads there for a decent price.
Love the video. I have the harbor freight polisher you talked about. But I don’t have the griots creams. But do have TW one and done. Would the one and done be ok to use for a first timer or should I get those 2 creams. Also have all the pads.

I now have a video I can recommend to people who ask me how to approach polishing for the first time. Well done buddy! 🤘
Thanks Rick! I appreciate you my friend!
Great video! It helped me out a lot and gave me a better understanding of what I needed to do starting out. Thanks! ✌🏼

Thank you Fred!! Appreciate that and thanks for taking the time to watch!🤜🤛🤝

@luisvelez4365 Ahhh ! Most definitely. Glad you caught it! 🤙🤙🤙 appreciate it once again.
The best beginners “how to” video I have watched! Thank you Eric.
Hey thank you so much for taking the time to watch! 👍👍 really appreciate it! Any quest feel free to reach out🤝
Great video Papa🌮 When I started in the early 80's I didn't even know of the microfiber towels until many years later I was in love😍 Microfiber towels have come a long way since then. This is great for the beginner👍👍👏👏
Thank you!!! Yes, detailing has advanced in sooo many ways. Glad to be a part of this!!!
Great video. Highly agree. I used my old G9 for 1st 4 yrs of my business for paint correction. Now 15 and 21 throws are perfect. Griots is great.
Thank you! Appreciate that! Agreed, great polisher👍👍 and not long after you get into it them 15mm and 21mm's are awesome 🤜🤛 thanks for watching!
Also don’t forget to remind people about safety items such as eye protection and wear gloves, after all these are chemicals we’re dealing with‼️
Anyway I’ll get off my soap box and say I look forward to seeing the next video 👍✌️☮️
Good stuff, I started out with the G9 and there BOSS system... Honestly can't go wrong.
Thanks man! Absolutely agree. The G9 with BOSS system is such a great way to start out!🤙
Great video. I personally loved that you were winging it in real life. That’s what a lot of us are doing. I am. My
car is as bad as the 3rd one in your video but my car has no shine to the paint anymore. I did start real light last week and have been working my way up to stronger products. Today I bought Greots compound to try. McGuire s ultimate didn’t “cut it” and I was afraid of using their 105
So I’m now using greots and I love the stuff. it’s so creamy and so easy to wipe off.

Great tutorial! Stop worrying about what other people may think. You can have additional options, but don’t apologize how you do things. Great job.
Hey Thanks Scott!! Appreciate that! You are absolutely right. 🤜🤛🤙 I'm getting better at it👍 take care and thank you for taking the time to watchA

2 minutes into this clip
I already feel somewhat confident your info is going to be priceless. Especially for me, the weekend driveway professional lol

The orange light cutting pad is my fav and my go-to pad for 80% of the jobs I do. I’m amazed at what I can accomplish with an orange pad and Sonax Perfect Finish.
Chris, I have to agree!!! Really is amazing what you can achieve man! 🤙🤙 I looove sonax perfect finish 👍
Bravo!!!!

Thanks Jay!! Aw man age ain't nothing but a number brother!!! I use 2 pads usually for a whole car.

Great video. I have watched many videos of yours. Was just like you hesitant to buy polisher. Started with harbor freight myself. Did my wife’s and my own car. Both 2008 so not the best of shape.

Awesome video man. Once you are done do you use the paint prep and what else to finish?

Thank you For making me try this

Good job on the video thanks for the advice!
Hey thank you so much! I appreciate you taking the time to watch! Please, if you have any questions I'll help to the best of my abilities!🤙🫡🤝
Nice job, Eric. I have the G9 and G8 and they work great for me, as an enthusiast. Can you make a video on changing the brushes in the polisher? I haven't done that yet. I appreciate you making this video, as always I learned a lot from you.
Thanks Eric!!! Appreciate that! Oh yes. Definitely! It's really easy on the G9 and 8.. if you like I can walk you through it on Instagram 👍
@@PapaSmurf918Detail I'll take you up on the brush replacement instructions. I think I have a few more uses until it's needed. Thank you!
@@ericstehle753 let me know! It takes less than 5 min my friend. Whenever you are ready shoot me a DM...
@@PapaSmurf918Detail Please do Eric. I could read the instructions but that would take all the fun out of it and be way too easy!!! Right??
Hahaha very true!!!
So should I put the swirls on the canvas first or should I just hit the fast forward button ? 🤔
What if I have a white pad but dyed it black and made it stiffer is that cool too 🤔
Lol. I'd prob hit the FF 😎 and as long as that pad is black lmao. Lol Kash got the jokes today!🤣🤘
@@PapaSmurf918Detail lol cool cool FF, black pad, and swirls before polish
Great introduction for people just getting started
Thank you. You ready to get out there and polish now???
Great info! Thanks for taking the time to explain everything.
Thanks Dexter! Appreciate you tuning in. Will hopefully be doing more videos like that soon 👍
Great job Eric! My best guess is that you needed to get rid of some of the old polishes. You know we all have this problem. I'm going to donate my semi expired polishes and compounds. Great idea for a video.
See you next time!
Thanks Larry!! Haha yes, I've gotten rid of some of my polishes and compounds.. it hurts!!!🤣 appreciate you tuning in buddy!!! Take care!

I think you did a awesome job great video oh ps yes plz do a Pad cleaning video
Rob, thank you man! Pad cleaning video coming up. You as well as others have been requesting. Plus I've got about 10 pads to clean so! Say no more! Thanks for watching🤜🤛🤝
Awesome man! Thank you so much! Just one question; I know it will depend on the car’s paint but, how long would you say will take to do an entire car? Again, thank you so much and keep them coming. 👍
Thank you! Appreciate you watching. Ummm I'd say also depending on skill level.. for beginners, 4-6 hours. 👍
Great! Thanks 👍👍
No problem! As you get better that time decreases over time. I always take long haha doesn't matter how many times I do it LOL
Just started the video! Been waiting for this
Awesome man! Remember, if I missed anything your have a question about don't hesitate to ask my friend!!🤜🤛
Let's answer those questions
Do you NEED paint light. No... do I highly recommend it? Absolutely... it's designed to mimic sunlight and using a regular flash light can be really hard to see... I tried to use regular lights and finally got the astro pneumatic 50sl... soooo much better. When out in direct sun your paint light is still effective 👍👍
Can you use the same polishes on headlights and taillights? Absolutely can polish them out. Just keep in mind plastic can not dissipate heat as quickly as metal can so don't stay in one spot to long 🤙
Cleaning pads? Easiest way, grab some dawn dish soap pre soak them for a little then use your hands and rub them out under a faucet until ALL the soap is out. Spin on polisher to get water out and set to dry 👌
Tips for working in sun...
Great video! Great info 👍 keep up the good work!
Paul, thank you my friend. Appreciate the support and for tuning in!🤙🤜🤛

Thanks, Greg! Appreciate you tuning in! I'm using the Barinna T5 LEDs.. from Amazon. Great lights and affordable 👍
Awesome video, gained a new subscriber:)
Wanted to ask how many pads you use on one car?

What iam asking for can I purchase a Adam's swirl killer mini 12mm with 3 inches pads , for whole my car Toyota avalon 2016 white pearly , it's nearly to my budget it's comes as a kit with polishing pads and compound and a polish, also I see it's will be little slower process but it's will be achieved all smaller area without purchase another machine for detailing, whats your thoughts 🙏

Hey thanks, Ron! Appreciate that my friend. 👍🤝
Great video thank u
Thanks my friend 👍👍 appreciate you taking the time to watch!
Great job 👍. The Griots G9 has rated really high. I'm getting the G9 & G8.
Thanks, Kenny! The G9/G8 combo is a great combo! 👍 will tackle a lot! Appreciate you watching my friend!
I found a Griot's G9 mint condition for $130. Would you recommend the G9 or somethong like a Maxshine M8S V2 for $130? Which would you take?
If I had to choose I'd go G9 hands down over m8s 👍👍 G9 is by far a superior unit! 🤜🤛
Do I have to put tape on my vehicle like you did ? 😂😂😂 jk great info in the video
Lmao exactly like I did... 🤣 or it won't work!😛😛😛😛 thanks DRD!!!
Love the video. I have the harbor freight polisher you talked about. But I don’t have the griots creams. But do have TW one and done. Would the one and done be ok to use for a first timer or should I get those 2 creams. Also have all the pads.
Thanks Robert! Yes absolutely you could use the 1 an done from turtle wax. It's a great polish.. not to aggressive with a soft foam pad👍
@@PapaSmurf918Detail one more question my car has vinyl on it will the da hurt that.
@@tuner066 To be completely honest is it's vinyl.. I've never polished vinyl before. I've heard you could but I can't say 100%.. just being honest!
Hey Smurf. My ceramic coating isn't performing like it use to. Put on in May, and beaded and sheeted like crazy. Now water sheets off slow. Today I rinsed, foamed, contact washed and dried. Sprayed some water on it, same thing. Wiped with Gyeon Prep and helped tiny bit. Is coating clogged with something? What you think?
Kim, what kind of coating? What was your install process like? Let's try and get to the bottom of this
@@PapaSmurf918Detail well....AvalonKing 9. Did..
1. Decontamination with bug removal. Contact wash Purple Power vehicle and boat wash
2. Iron removal
3. Clay bared
4. Rinse
5. Dryer
6. Gyeon Prep wipe down
7. Enhancement with M302 Koch chemie. Yellow Rupes pads. (Paint was in very good shape before Enhancement)
8. Gyeon Prep wipe down
9. Applied 1 coat of AvalonKing 9. Upper 70s temp, low humidity.
10. Stayed in garage 3 days. 4th day drove it.
11. 7th day washed, dried, and applied Extreme solutions Topper. Used p.h. neutral soap. Chemical Guys Mr. Pink.
Washing once a week since then (May) and apply Extreme Solutions Topper each time.
12. The end....lol.
@@kimnewling5728 Interesting... doesn't seem normal though I've not tested that avalon king.. sounds like you did everything right though. Imo.. that Mr pink is good at foaming that's about it. I'd go with Carpro Reset and see if that makes a difference... it's a deeper clean for coated cars. If not I suspect the coating may just be failing.
