I bought the Q2 at a whim last year to relive some fun of BS back from the Ocu Rift CV days. Lo and behold I got a solid week or two in before the system/game updated and no mods worked after, waited for bmbf support to come back but it never did so I was stuck with a paperweight and a bunch of dodgy youtube guides to hamfist the thing into working but ultimately running into various errors with compatibility issues and whatnot. Yours was the first one that actually did the trick and I was able to seamlessly go down from 1.35 to 1.28 and get custom songs again. Thank you so much.

I came back to the scene after a long time, I finally bought Beat Saber only to find out that: a) current mods don't support the current version so I have to downgrade and b) I cannot downgrade to 1.28 from 1.35 because... reasons... I was devastated to learn that the update rolled out today on the very same day I bought the game. But! Because of you my arms hurt now because I could come back to the songs I love and used to complete to the awe of my house guests only to find out my eyes can see the blocks but my arms cannot keep up 😅

I read on reddit that v63 update from meta closed permissions and we have to wait for a new update with fix. I don't know if it is a truth, but I have the same problem as you and I haven't found a way to fix it

BUT if you can downgrade to v1.34.6_788 then just downgrade to that version then once on that version you can downgrade from v1.34.6_788 to v1.28 because those two are compatible and continue with mods. sorry for the confusion I literally recorded this right before the update. My oculus runs v65(newest quest 2 version) and my beat saber cant get modded because it runs 1.36 and bmbf cant find any mods for 1.36 and only for 1.35 or lower😢

Great tutorial! I want to add in my part that, in the section where you need to grant permission to folders, mine didn't work at all for the Android>obb folder. But I just chose a folder randomly and granted the permission. I'm certainly unsure this would work but somehow magically it worked for me. After that all steps are the same. It's a shame that currently, we are unable to download songs through bmbf, I really loved their preview feature for songs. Any chance we can do that here?

I'm currently trying to figure out a work around for this but I didn't have the issue myself so it's hard to trouble shoot. can you make a new folder? I haven't tested this yet but it might work. someone else told me they just skipped granting permission and it worked anyway so I would try that first. let me know if it works
@XoRoseGold Just to give you some more intel, I had this problem on my quest 2, whereas on my quest 3, I'm waiting for QAVS to support downloading mods from there. If you skip granting permission, it seems very buggy. Half the time, trying to uninstall beat saber won't even uninstall it, and if you go to uninstall it manually, it just won't downgrade your game. I say it's buggy because one of the times I was actually able to get it to 1.28. Legit all I did was keep trying by restarting my headset and one of the times uninstalling beat saber would work. (All these attempts are without giving permission to the folder since it wouldn't let you.) Super weird, I have no idea what to do about it.

Currently, what I noticed with this method, at least with Q3, is that beat super is almost unplayable. The game crashes a lot. Missing blocs when you hit them correctly (I've done some recording just to make sure I was not crazy). So... I sadly decided to uninstall mods. After uninstalling them, I got my S ranks with 87% accuracy back (from A-B ranks with mods on similar songs) Am I the only one? :(
I don't have a quest 3 so I can't speak from personal experience but modding on the Q3 is much newer so it might be something they work out in the future. I would also recommend, if you haven't already, only load the core mods. More mods means more room for issue

I've tried redoing everything twice following everything exactly and i keep coming to the same error message at the end. "Failed to install mod" no such file or directory.

Im pretty sure I watched your old video on how to mod b4 as well, and you made it so easy. I do have a questions tho, might be a dumb ones. I have another quest 2 that im the main profile for and my mom plays on her account. Am I able to go and mod that one? Id have to delete her profile but i can add it back afterwards? Would she have to play on my profile in order for the mod to work or if i turn on app sharing will she be able to do it from hers? Any info will of course be great. Glad to help out! for your question, I've not tried this myself buttt I'm pretty sure only the main account can use the mods. Yes you would have to unlink the second account first, then mod, then add the account back but as far as I know only the main account gets the mods. If you try it out let me know, I'm curious if it lets the second account use the mods or not.
I didn't keep my Quest 3 so I've never used it modded but I've heard others complain of the same thing with the 3 being laggy or having issues. My best guess is that since modding is much newer on the 3 maybe it's just not optimized yet. I'd ask around in the beat saber modding group discord and maybe talk to some others who use a 3. Side note, though probably not an option is to use your pc to run beat saber and the mods.
I forgot to mention the more mods you load the more room for error so if you haven't already, try only running the core mods and don't add any extras @@yorishinamoku
@@XoRoseGold this is an issue with v63, it doesn't look like metas fault as theres no way they would put that much effort into protecting people from modding anyways
The backup will be failed since no write permission. But it is ok for me to skip the backup, just can't roll back to play online. I was able to play the mod version.
6:20 i have a problem where it doesn't even bring up the message that says access needed. i have modded before but used BMBF. i tried to make a back up fiel but it says it's corrupted. if you could help me i'd be very thankful.
you have to run the quick fix first then patch but if you still aren't seeing the patch go to patching right above the tools and options in quest patcher and try to patch from there. but if you see the option to load mods then it's already patched
@@XoRoseGold whenever I quick fix it nothing happened and when ever I do the patch right above it says it failed. One time it had the mods tab but when ever I downloaded em and enabled them it said something like it couldn’t load bc of a ton of missing crap
It was the same for me. Follow the Pinned comment and downgrade first to V1.29 from the Quest App and then redo it and it started downloading correctly
not all the mods are up to date for that version but if it has the mods you want then 1.35 would be much easier to mod since you don't have to downgrade

@@XoRoseGold thank you but I figured it it I went thru the questpatcher way but I didn’t realize I had to download the core mods thru the GitHub mod website I was trying to use the pc mod website for my beatsaber
when i go to sideload the GAVS it keeps giving me an error of "prematue end of stream, needed 1 more bytes" and ive done everything as instructed so far
After some quick research the possible fixes I came across from people with similar issues were 1 try using a different USB port on your pc and or a different cable. 2 You don't have enough space for the download. 3 reinstall and try again. Hope this helps
EDIT: I GOT IT TO WORK! only issue is, when i click "close" it closes the entire game, not the prompt itself. Its pretty annoying that i have to ignore it and hope it goes away immediately In the version switcher app, after i click "grant permission" it says i cant use the "obb" folder. In order to "protect my privacy". I just tried creating a new folder and checking the other ones, but the same "protecting privacy" message pops up.. idk what im supposed to do
i know im not the only one having the "can't access folder" message when trying to grant QAVS permission and i also know that it is happening because of the latest quest update. do any of you know if there's any way around this?
I was able to follow this until trying to download the mods in QuestPatcher. It gives me an error saying that I need Scotland2 as the modloader instead of QuestLoader. When clicking the link for the Quest Modding Wiki, it did not give me the option to choose the Modloader, only the Game Version so that may be where its going wrong. Did anyone else get this and can help me out here? I am very beginner to all this btw.
Hi! Everything in the tutoriul worked great other then saving the no mod to easily switched back. The backup didn't work correctly and I can't use it. How can you switch it back another way?
I can download each song ingame one by one. And i can add playlists, but how can I download all songs from those playlists? The list shows up but there are no songs inside (beside the ones I downloaded manually from that list) and there is no download playlist button.

Hi, I've done everything in this video and I'm somewhat familiar with modding already so I'd say I'm pretty okay with tech but I can't figure out how to allow access to data with QAVS. "For your privacy you cannot use this folder". I've gone through every setting I can find to allow it but I just can't find a work around. Using the quest 2 btw. Everything else works like a charm but that. Would really appreciate the help! tyy
I'm pretty sure this is a permission issues somewhere it's not allowed. I've had a few comments on this so I'm going to mess around and try to recreate this issue so I can know how to fix it. I'll get back to you in if I find something out
hello, I had this problem, but all i did to fix it is i just selected one of the front folders on that menu so like Android > [place holder] etc. if that makes since. so i just clicked on android and then on bmbfdata (something like that) because i had BMBF downloaded so i just picked a random folder and it was that one. and it worked, but i did have to do it twice. idk if this will help you I'm just sharing my experience. hope it helps :)

I have version 1.35, there's no available downgrades for this version at this time. 1.34.6_788 is the newest version that can be downgraded.

There is no option to downgrade with the latest version 1.350_8x. What am I missing?
Since the update today you can't go straight from v1.35 to v1.28 untill they update it cause it claims its not compatible, I'm not sure why it makes a difference what version you switch from. Bad timing on the update since I recorded just the other day.. BUT I have a work around in your meta app (on phone) go to the menu > scroll down to "my library" > choose beat saber > scroll down close to the bottom and see "version" click on the version number > click on channel > choose legacy 1.29 version > restart vr headset > in the top right corner of beat saber in the app screen click the 3 dots ... and update > launch beat saber and look at your feet you should be on v 1.29 then continue to downgrade in QAVS to v1.28

Currently, what I noticed with this method, at least with Q3, is that beat super is almost unplayable.
The game crashes a lot. Missing blocs when you hit them correctly (I've done some recording just to make sure I was not crazy).
So... I sadly decided to uninstall mods. After uninstalling them, I got my S ranks with 87% accuracy back (from A-B ranks with mods on similar songs)
Am I the only one? :(
Timing can be slightly diffrent. In beatsaber you can adjust audiolatency in the menu. Play around with that
I don't have a quest 3 so I can't speak from personal experience but modding on the Q3 is much newer so it might be something they work out in the future. I would also recommend, if you haven't already, only load the core mods. More mods means more room for issue

someone else told me they just skipped granting permission and it worked anyway so I would try that. It's hard for me to trouble shoot this since I didn't get the issue. let me know if it works
Alright so I don’t know what’s going on. Whenever I get to the step at 6:30 where it’s the “Use This Folder” no data or anything shows up. I’ve been getting stuck on this step for a long while
I didn't have this problem myself but others have told me they we're able to just skip the step and it worked just fine or just create a new folder
My keeps saying to protect my privacy to use a different folder but i keeps sending me back to this on folder just not letting me use it how do i fix it??

I've tried redoing everything twice following everything exactly and i keep coming to the same error message at the end. "Failed to install mod" no such file or directory.

for your question, I've not tried this myself buttt I'm pretty sure only the main account can use the mods. Yes you would have to unlink the second account first, then mod, then add the account back but as far as I know only the main account gets the mods. If you try it out let me know, I'm curious if it lets the second account use the mods or not.
It's too laggy on quest 3. Is this a problem with the mods themselves or did I do something wrong? Maybe some ways to fix it?
I didn't keep my Quest 3 so I've never used it modded but I've heard others complain of the same thing with the 3 being laggy or having issues. My best guess is that since modding is much newer on the 3 maybe it's just not optimized yet. I'd ask around in the beat saber modding group discord and maybe talk to some others who use a 3. Side note, though probably not an option is to use your pc to run beat saber and the mods.

I can't grant the folder permission in QAVS. Said you can't use this folder for protect your privacy. Anyone has the same issue?
make sure you gave QAVS permission when it first launches. I didn't get the popup but it sounds like you just need to give permission somewhere.

The backup will be failed since no write permission. But it is ok for me to skip the backup, just can't roll back to play online. I was able to play the mod version.
i will say though, you will need either an android phone or a pc (pc tool called questpatcher) to do it

6:20 i have a problem where it doesn't even bring up the message that says access needed. i have modded before but used BMBF. i tried to make a back up fiel but it says it's corrupted. if you could help me i'd be very thankful.
When I launch beat saber after downgrading, I get stuck on the title screen
It only does this for 1.37, it worked when I tried 1.28
whenever i go to quest patcher theres no repatch is that because i did something wrog because im prettty sure i did everything right
you have to run the quick fix first then patch but if you still aren't seeing the patch go to patching right above the tools and options in quest patcher and try to patch from there. but if you see the option to load mods then it's already patched
@@XoRoseGold whenever I quick fix it nothing happened and when ever I do the patch right above it says it failed. One time it had the mods tab but when ever I downloaded em and enabled them it said something like it couldn’t load bc of a ton of missing crap

It was the same for me. Follow the Pinned comment and downgrade first to V1.29 from the Quest App and then redo it and it started downloading correctly

well, what about modding the actual 1.35.0? i just did it and its pretty simple
not all the mods are up to date for that version but if it has the mods you want then 1.35 would be much easier to mod since you don't have to downgrade
Whenever I try to download version 1.28.0 in qavs is says “error occurred when downloading”
It won't let me do dev mode even after doing all the steps both on pc and mobile and quest patcher is giving me a headache

I did this, followed it by the book, and now, my game stays in a black screen after the beat saber logo, and I can not even play anymore.
Whenever i try and boot up the downgraded or restore the backup it just shows the beat saber logo and never loads further

@@XoRoseGold thank you but I figured it it I went thru the questpatcher way but I didn’t realize I had to download the core mods thru the GitHub mod website I was trying to use the pc mod website for my beatsaber
I've done all the modding but now whenever i open best saver it just closes and says there's not enough memory to run it
When I go to install core mods there is only one drop down, I do not see the one for modloader
when i go to sideload the GAVS it keeps giving me an error of "prematue end of stream, needed 1 more bytes" and ive done everything as instructed so far
Mine does the same!
After some quick research the possible fixes I came across from people with similar issues were 1 try using a different USB port on your pc and or a different cable. 2 You don't have enough space for the download. 3 reinstall and try again. Hope this helps

EDIT: I GOT IT TO WORK! only issue is, when i click "close" it closes the entire game, not the prompt itself. Its pretty annoying that i have to ignore it and hope it goes away immediately
In the version switcher app, after i click "grant permission" it says i cant use the "obb" folder. In order to "protect my privacy".
I just tried creating a new folder and checking the other ones, but the same "protecting privacy" message pops up.. idk what im supposed to do

I was able to follow this until trying to download the mods in QuestPatcher. It gives me an error saying that I need Scotland2 as the modloader instead of QuestLoader. When clicking the link for the Quest Modding Wiki, it did not give me the option to choose the Modloader, only the Game Version so that may be where its going wrong. Did anyone else get this and can help me out here? I am very beginner to all this btw.

yes but you can't use BMBF anymore so you'll have to use this new method in the video

Hi! Everything in the tutoriul worked great other then saving the no mod to easily switched back. The backup didn't work correctly and I can't use it. How can you switch it back another way?

if you don't have a backup to switch back to you will have to uninstall your game and reinstall a fresh version
I can download each song ingame one by one. And i can add playlists, but how can I download all songs from those playlists? The list shows up but there are no songs inside (beside the ones I downloaded manually from that list) and there is no download playlist button.
for some reason when i do this it tells me i dont own beatsaber on the downgrade step any fixes?

I have my beatsaber modded via the old method bmbf. Is it possible to to switch to the quest patcher mods and still keep my custom sabers and songs?
For the sabers you'll need to go into the Quest files on pc and save the sabers manually so you can put them back in after and for the songs I haven't tried this myself but someone else commented "For those of you who previously used BMBF, make sure to uninstall both it and your current version of BeatSaber before starting on this guide. It'll save you hours and hours of headache, and you can still use BeastSaber to grab your songs once the game has been modded using QAVS, so you'll have access to them again quite quickly. Hopefully, this will save you hours of headache...I'm speaking from personal experience, unfortunately.

Hi, I've done everything in this video and I'm somewhat familiar with modding already so I'd say I'm pretty okay with tech but I can't figure out how to allow access to data with QAVS.
"For your privacy you cannot use this folder". I've gone through every setting I can find to allow it but I just can't find a work around.
Using the quest 2 btw. Everything else works like a charm but that.

I'm pretty sure this is a permission issues somewhere it's not allowed. I've had a few comments on this so I'm going to mess around and try to recreate this issue so I can know how to fix it. I'll get back to you in if I find something out

hello, I had this problem, but all i did to fix it is i just selected one of the front folders on that menu so like Android > [place holder] etc. if that makes since. so i just clicked on android and then on bmbfdata (something like that) because i had BMBF downloaded so i just picked a random folder and it was that one. and it worked, but i did have to do it twice. idk if this will help you I'm just sharing my experience. hope it helps :)
