I'm glad you are all enjoying the video, For those commenting about the pistons being mounted upside down, they are not. The pistons are plastic with a metal capping, If fitted the other way around the edge of the metal cap would catch the oil and dust seal and tear them apart not to mention the whole point of having a metal cap on the plastic piston is to stop the pad wearing the plastic piston away and the diagrams of these calipers also show metal cap facing out so yes they are fitted correctly and not upside down.
You know your stuff and please please please 🙏🏻 let us who know and understand please forgive my language… But get her done and turn the fuel on and kick down on her and when she kicks into life twist her gently but aggressively but you know and understand and let that 2 stroke/petroleum tickle your nose like the old 70’s/80’s Bisto gravey advert good luck brother
I did still spot a deliberate mistake. You've used regular grease on the brake caliper slider rubbers. I've done that before, the rubber absorbs the grease and swells, causing the caliper to seize and the boots to rip. You'll be replacing those boots again after a few months.
Watching your restoration of the CR made me go to my garage and un cover my 1986 CR 250R after 22 years sitting wish me luck but thanks for the motivation and confidence you give your viewers to DIY!
@@RRCRestoration complete I need to rebuild the carb there was fuel left in it and got the carb slimmy and the handle bars are bent and needs new seat foam and cover..
All I can think of watching this series is all the time my friends and I spent working on our bikes 30+ years ago as kids not knowing torque wrenches even existed.
It is my mechanics and this channel that inspires me to decorate a future garage with all sorts of restoration tools like the ultrasonic and sandblaster and do restoration jobs for fun and a bit of money on the side.
Brings back memories of the late eighties early nineties. Holidays in Italy every summer for 8 weeks, meet up with family and friends. We had to make do with tricked out Piaggio Ciao while friends rode Honda CR 250, Aprilia Tuareg 250 Rally, Cagiva Elefant 350.
I had to comment on one thing I've never seen before..replacing the sight glass on the master cylinder..in all my 4 plus decades of reading magazines and listening to other bike mechanics over the years..not once has anyone even mentioned replacing that glass never mind actually doing it..I'm gobsmacked as they say..remainder of the restoration is as high standard as ever seen..as always here on this channel..wish I could get him to restore my old Kawasaki 250 triple...
Yeah it's a little detail that a lot of people overlook as they don't think it can be easily removed, attention to detail is what sets some restorers apart from the others ;)
I find all your builds therapeutic .... there is something about watching a project of yours come together with little or no talking, its relaxing, plus what you produce is amazing, most people wold scrap thing, you give them a new lease of life. Cant wait for the next episode..... whats next?????
Awesome as always! Only 2 small advices: do not put grease on the two front caliper pins that retain the pads and do not put treadlock on them. The grease because it gets dirty with the brake dust and the treadlock because the steel bolt tents to stick with the aluminium caliper and the get stuck very often! The restoration is mindblowing btw!
So nice to see new clean products being assembled as they should, then all inspired, i'm in the garage with my A3 Ninja rebuild, where things arent going as swimmingly...sigh
Yup we are very nearly there, The plastics have come up really well so far working through the grades of paper i just hope they polish up as glossy as i need them to be.
Really enjoy all the bike builds. Think this my favourite. The dukes are beautiful but this reminds me if being a teen/early 20s back in the early 80s. Keep it up
You can but cheap powder coating systems and then all you need is a little toaster oven a small one to use for small parts like side covers and all the little parts and then just buy some powder and you can start powder coating some of these peices that your painting will hold up for longer
I love watching your videos you don't talk all that much you just get it done most videos i watch are boring because the person doing the video spends more time talking than performing the restoration.
Thank you, Yeah im not keen on those videos either where is 20 mins or talking and 5 mins of work, i prefer to say what has to be said and then let the tools do the talking ;)
I know you restore but I would love to see a custom build with your quality/attention to detail. An old bobber or hot rod build would be awesome to watch
I loved this restoration so far but those little cylinders send shivers down my spine! Did someone paint them? I can see uneven surface with my naked eye and that can't be good.
Love your work. You are missing the plastic clip that sits on the bottom of carb slide spring. Prevents cable from detatching from the slot in the needle nut....make sense?
Thank you :) You're maybe thinking of a different carb model as according to the exploded diagram for this year there are no parts missing from my assembly?
Great stuff. It'd be interesting to know how much this restoration (and your others) cost you in terms of new parts (not counting the skills and time spent, since they are obviously priceless!)

This is really the best restoration channel on YT, there's no better place!
you're too kind :)
I agree totally ! And with vehicles most of us can relate too, just wish I could do what you do

It really really doesn't matter what you are building/restoring. It's the patience and attention to detail that is good watching and food for my soul.
Thank you, Glad you enjoy my work :)

Apart from lagging behind on the Ciao, even though they were tuned right the way up, yeah it was.
I know this was 10 months ago- but your definitely a professional and perfectionist! So great! Can’t wait to binge watch all your videos!
No need to apologize! Following your videos with great anticipation.

Yup, and we are so so close to getting it finished now ;)
Not to worry. That gives us more to look forward to!
This has been one of my favourite restoration projects. No music, just a man working peacefully in his workshop... perfect!!
Thank you so much :)
The dust cover installation made me 😃
The exceptional high quality of your restoration gets me every time. Thanks for sharing 👌

you're too kind :)
Good refresher on the definition of penultimate 🤓
Don't tell me that the reservoir screws were that loose, normally they are corroded tightly into the body!
🤣
Thx for the vid, great job as always!

I have actually been looking at getting a powder coating setup as you say for small items it would be really good.
I absolutely love watching the videos but baffled at where you get all the parts ! As always, amazing skill
Looking good, can't wait to see the plastics done.
SO sad it is coming to an end but really chuffed how it turned out so far. I had a mid 80's XR200R and wish I had it now to restore!
