You , are an absolute treasure. Thankyou Thankyou. Just fixed my softener dispenser tray after 3 weeks of having to empty each after each wash. Even me who doesnt do fix 😂, at 63, found this easy to follow.
Hi, I also had those holes clogged, sometimes it didn't release fabric softener, but in the end the kitchen was washed out. The scale in the inlet nozzles was to blame. It is best to remove the top cover of the washing machine, close the water supply, disconnect the hose from the nozzles and remove the entire detergent dispenser and fabric softener and clean it under running water. It's more complicated than punching with a wire and a brush, but faster and more efficient. Unfortunately, in this case it is not uncommon to add calgon to the drum, for example, because there is a blockage at the inlet.
I've tried so many things to solve this problem, but after watching this video i took the dispenser drawer out and looked up - yes, it was mage minging! Thank you!
Thank you for your video.I have a Maytag washer the best advice I can give you is when you are done with your washing. leave the door open at all times.
I have had this problem for weeks, with the conditioner just sitting there. I have today just learnt about cleaning the jet nozzles above the tray. Thank you so much. My washing machine is now working properly again.
Very useful, thanks....now I know where to clean and how, I'm going to use some antifungicide wash to really kill off the mould - this deserves a LOT more likes - cheers!
Great video! just goes to show you can find anything on UA-cam. I suspect one reason this clogs more often is if you always wash in cold water. Cold just won't dissolve softener very well.....
Yes true. I've got a video to help keep your washing machine hygienically fresh, definitely worth running this every few months. ua-cam.com/video/NbOUDxk7Yxw/v-deo.html Glad I could help. 😎
Very useful (it's amazing what you can find on UA-cam). My problem was slightly different with my Bosch machine although I have done everything you demonstrate in the video. I have been finding that after a wash, the fabric softener drawer had emptied of Comfort but now contained a lot of clear water with what looked like pieces of hardened soap floating in it. Thanks for all these videos = I'll recommend them to friends and family. Stay safe.

Thanks for this video! I have this problem with my washing machine but was reluctant to take the draw out because I thought it would just come out by pulling. When it didn't come out all the way I just left it out of fear of breaking it. Didn't know that you'd have to press that blue button down a bit to get it out until I watched your video.
Useful video. I have had a bosch machine for some 13 years, and a year or two back it really started to produce smelly washing. I did end up taking the whole filter out, and what you saw as buildup on the underside was nothing compared to the non visible side. I had to take the whole top of the machine off to get at the damn thing though. Other things you could use are mold and mildew spray occasionally followed by a rinsing hot wash, and recently I discovered using a water pick is very good too.
Yes they do get mouldy. It's a good idea to clean your Washing Machine to keep it Hygienically Fresh and here's a link here on how to do that, really does make a difference. ua-cam.com/video/NbOUDxk7Yxw/v-deo.html
Hmmm I took off the top of my machine but the dispenser is a plastic casing that I couldn’t open. I’ve run my machine twice on that clean cycle and that blob of fabric softener doesn’t go away
@@LurgsHowToGuides Thanks for the advice! Unfortunately our washing machine is built into a cabinet, and I can't seem to get anything except what's at the front, and highlighted in your video. Still trying to clean it properly now as the muck isn't really going away :(
Hi Lurgs, I have this issue but it’s water that’s left behind in the fabric conditioner compartment - I shall try out your instructions and hope it works for water too! Thanks
That's probably not too much of an issue, we have a bit of water in ours at the end. I just remove the Dispenser drawer and empty it into the sink so it doesn't get all smelly.
This just fixed my GE Washing Machine, had no idea it could get so dirty in there. Thanks! Edit: also my problem was like another commenter said where the softener bin was filled with water not draining
Nice work! Yes it does get really dirty, fabric softener doesn't drain properly if it's thick and that creates mould. After a wash leave your dispenser drawer slightly open (and washing machine drum door) to give it a bit of ventilation.
My girlfriend (from Taiwan) asked why the cup of tea was relevant. I said its a sign of a true Englishman, and I intend on doing the exact same thing once I've cleared my blockage.
Indeed it is. I love that classic scene in Lock Stock before they are about to go to War with that gang and he says 'if you think I am going to war without having a cup of tea first then you are sadly mistaken'. Love a nice cup of tea.
Marvellous. Yeh that's what my channel is all about saving you money, glad I could help out and hopefully there is some other useful stuff on here for you. Have a good week.
Thank you, thank you! I have a different brand, but it was the same principle and mine is working perfectly now. One tiny issue was that I forgot to remove the rag I was using to block the toothbrush from falling down the hole. As soon as I saw the water on the floor, I knew what it was. Everything is great now. :D
Great stuff, so glad I could help out. At least you remembered the rag was there, that's better than dropping your partners toothbrush down the hole! 😎
Yep great video and clearly explained... My case was a bit worse though so had to end up taking the top of the machine off and removing the Top part of the dispenser , Once you have the top "roof" part separated from the main box, it (unwillingly) separates into 2 parts allowing you to get to the gunge inside that was blocking the water that should have flowed into the Pythagoras cup to dispense the conditioner into the drum. Even though the inside of the dispenser (what could be seen with the drawer out) was clean as a whistle, and had poked the holes to clear this didn't work sufficiently, only the strip down worked. If you can't get the thing separated (use a strong flatbed screwdriver at the tabs) you can but the roof as a part - it is about 25 quid - thanks again though Lurgs, you got me on the right track. Now we will leave the drawer open , and have turned the rad up a little in our utility as it is cold so hopefully wont happen again so badly. I also have the problem of my better half complaining I'm using her toothbrush , and further complaining when I don't put it back - unbelievable! 😁
Good tip! I stopped using conditioner as I found it made the drawer go mouldy and scummy. Didn't notice a difference with clothes either. Waste of money!
A tip: when you do the empty wash at the end - use 250g of citric acid in the detergent compartment. It will clean and de-scale the machine. Cheapest citric acid u can buy is on ebay.
No I frequently use citric acid in my washing machine and I can buy a 500g bag in my local international supermarket, as I would never order anything whatsoever online
Thanks mate, I ran descaler through 🤬 I ran bleach through 🤬 I washed the drawer 🤬 I brushed the jet section 🤬 I watched your video 🧑🔧 I cleaned the jets with a blunt cocktail stick 🙂 I scrubbed with a toothbrush 🙂 I ran on a hot wash 🙂 😁😁😁😁...yayyyyyyyy Thank you.
Hi, thanks for the tips! I cleaned the dispenser and jet holes (they didn't have mold, just soap leftovers), I made the machine work without clothes and then I put some clothes to wash. However, after just one use, the softener's dispenser is again filed with water and some softener leftovers. Is there a case it's the fault of the softener ( it's a bit more dense that usually)?
I clean my washing machine religiously and never had any mould build up. When this problem occurred I cleaned as described in this video. It worked perfectly for one wash and now I am back to the softener dispenser again is not draining. Any tips? Do I have to do this after every wash?!?!?!?
As long as the fabric conditioner filters into the machine and you only have water left in the compartment then this is normal. After a wash I normally remove the drawer and shake it dry then put it back. Else leave drawer open slightly after a wash to help with ventilation.
@@LurgsHowToGuides No, the fabric conditioner is still in the dispenser again. I always remove the drawer after a wash and leave it to dry before replacing it. I clean my washing machine and followed these tips when the dispenser stopped dispensing. It worked for one wash and now it is not dispensing again
@@LurgsHowToGuides It does - it used it previously all the time. And as I said, when I followed the advice on this channel, it worked again for one wash but since that one wash it no longer uses it. I tried it on other programmes just to check (more for my own sanity) and it does not work again.
Great video! I just got a cheap beko in black Friday and my clothes are coming out creased and there's still a little diluted conditioner in the drawer when it's finished. My 2 questions are is that normal and should I also be adding water to the conditioner before starting the wash? Many thanks in advance!!
Probably nothing to worry about, our Bosch never completely clears the fabric conditioner. You can add water to it to make it thinner, or just use less.
@@LurgsHowToGuides thanks for the response! To be honest the main problem is really the fact my clothes are coming out so creased so I'm trying to work out why that is whilst hoping there's nothing wrong with it! Not a problem I've really encountered before either with previous machines!!
@@LurgsHowToGuides thanks again will try putting less in as well as trying to lower the spin speed if it lets me. The half hour wash is only one that doesn't take forever. Thanks again chief!!
I have a Bosch Maxx 6, could you tell me if the fabric softener draw should still be holding water in it after the cycle has finished, as mine does. So I'm not sure if all the conditioner is being taken away. Sometimes when I pull the draw out the water drains away but not all the time.
Good tips! Any idea why it would be filling back up with water once the softener has been dispensed? And then not siphoning back so just full at the end of the wash? - 2 month old machine!
Hi @LurgsHowToGuides Great video! However I'm now super worried now since my machine is not turning on at all now :( I followed all these steps expect for running an empty rinse at the end, and I recalled from this video is something I should have definitely done! Just for my sanity, was this step absolutely necessary to avoid damaging the machine or just another complementary step to make sure it was properly cleaned?
It's just a good idea to run a Drum clean to clean it all through. Try powering off at the Mains and leave it 5 mins and try again. Does machine have power? If not check the fuse in the plug.
Hi Lurgs thanks for the video. I have a question. Brand new Bosch washing machine was delivered to me yesterday. It will not take the softener. I called at the shop and the technician said most probably water pressure is at fault. I removed the hose from the tap and water pressure seems good. It filled a 8L water bucket in 35 seconds. Would love to here your answer!
Seems like a fob off to me, if washing machine is working ok but not the fabric softener then I’d say that’s a fault, if it’s brand new it should be spraying out into the fabric softener drawer
You’ve answered a lot of my questions today. When I try to clean mine on a 90 degree I get steam coming out of the drawer. Is it still safe to use a 90 degree wash
Yes, they wouldn't have it as an option otherwise. It helps kill bacteria and keep it hygienically fresh. I've got a video here how to keep it hygienically fresh ua-cam.com/video/NbOUDxk7Yxw/v-deo.html
@@sandraleyland8748 Yes they do smell. Run that hygienically fresh programme. Also after every wash leave your dispenser drawer slightly open to help it ventilate and it will stop it smelling so much. 😎
Never leave the door or drawer fully closed. That's why you get mold in your washing machine, it can't dry properly. So always leave Them open a little bit.
@@LurgsHowToGuides My 9kg Frontload washing machine is brand new Lg Product only 3 days old. But I am getting problem of detergent residue in detergent drawer. I done this fix but getting same problem. Engineer said that it is due to low water pressure ? But I told him that my machine is not showing any error like IE in my lg washing machine for water supply or pressure error. My return window will expire today. What should I do ? Return it or it may be due to pressure ? But I have adequate pressure and not getting any error like IE on display. I am thinking for return and replacement on flipkart. Please suggest as soon as possible.
We get some residue on our Bosch leftover. Could be the fabric softener is too thick, try maybe watering it down. Maybe you are putting too much in? If it's hardly clearing at all then I'd send it back.
@@LurgsHowToGuides I put recommended dose of detergent. I used poweder detergent. Always approx. 20-30% of dose is left over in detergent drawer after cycle. Can it be due to water pressure not being very high ?? Water pressure is good not very high. But I am sure it is good pressure it is not showing any water pressure error on display also. What do you suggest now ?
@@VisionForHumanity We never use powder always liquid. It should still clear it though, make sure tap is fully open on your mains feed to the machine. Check taps near the machine (sink) to see if cold water pressure is ok.
I've dealt with this so many times. Fabric conditioners are made of animal fats like lanolin (the grease from sheep skin and wool). That's what blocks the holes. And stinks of decomposition. I use Co-Operative own brand fabric conditioner which contains no animal fats and is more watery so doesn't block the holes
Bedankt

Very informative thank you, bosch tried to charge me 30 quid a month for what you told me for free❤🤣🥳
@@jacquelineunderhill5031 Superb. Good saving 😎
Thanks. Worked perfectly on Hoover Dynamic next machine too!
Great news. Glad to help. 😎
Thank you for this guide. I was going to call out a repair guy, which would have cost me £120.
iv done same, what did you do
Hi! Your video really helped! My washer is like a new machine again! 😀
Marvellous news.Thanks. Have a fab weekend.😎
Yeh always leave dispenser drawer open after a wash, and drum door. Glad it helped. Merry Christmas 🎄
Thanks for this
I just cleaned my detergent/conditioner drawer
No problem. Glad it was useful. 😎
Good tip! I stopped using conditioner as I found it made the drawer go mouldy and scummy. Didn't notice a difference with clothes either. Waste of money!
Yes it's very dense. In some of the manuals it recommends you thin it out a bit with water, seems a bit pointless.
@@LurgsHowToGuides the worst culprit is comfort intense!
As you say, waste of money! Thanks for stopping by my Channel and stay safe 😎
Worked a treat. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction 👍
Great news, glad it all worked out.😎
A tip: when you do the empty wash at the end - use 250g of citric acid in the detergent compartment. It will clean and de-scale the machine. Cheapest citric acid u can buy is on ebay.
Will citric acid be too acidic for the drum ??
@@rebeccajones8881 no
No I frequently use citric acid in my washing machine and I can buy a 500g bag in my local international supermarket, as I would never order anything whatsoever online
cheers, sorted my issue. Other half none to pleased though after looking at toothbrush 🤣
Glad it’s sorted. Can always buy a new toothbrush 🤣👍
Very helpful thank you ... and really made me laugh when you said "take the partner's toothbrush"!
Glad I could help and yes partners toothbrush is very handy!😎
Thanks so much for this video I didn’t know the keys were at the top . I love this you so funny😂😂 subscribed too
Thanks for subscribing. Glad to help out. 😎
Helpful video, thank you for sharing
No problem, glad I could help.😎
You should use soda crystals in the trays when you set the wash off, just fill the trays with it, gets the whole thing spotless
Thanks for the helpful video. I'm giving the wash a run through, and hoping I fixed the clog.
James Golden You could water down the softener or just not use it. It’s so thick I’m not suprised it clogs up machines.
@@LurgsHowToGuides it was just clogged. I may use less than what I normally do.
Good evening sir,
Thanku very much for your guidance,

I scrubbed with a toothbrush 🙂
I ran on a hot wash 🙂

Great news, glad it's all working. 😎
@@LurgsHowToGuides It's fantastic, I can actually smell the difference x
great video, I am having an issue with my hotpoint filling with water in liquid dispenser. Any idea what that could be?
So after the wash it's still filled with water? Could be a blockage in the pipe that goes down to the washing machine. Does it do it all the time?
Thanks mate, that was really useful, I’m now off to try it, I knew keeping my ex partners tooth brush was a good idea.
Thanks. And bonus if your Ex pops in you can give them their toothbrush back!😆
Hi, thanks for the tips!
Sometimes fabric softener is too thick and doesn’t dispense properly. You can try diluting it with water first or just don’t use it.
@@LurgsHowToGuides I'll change it for sure thanks a lot! I thought it was a machine issue but it must be a softener one
Very useful and saved our washing machine. Thank you 😊
Marvellous news, happy to help out. 😎
Thanky you,all sorted now, flushed through with domestos
Nice. Glad to help.😎
Your british humor is on point 😂

thank you very much, this was it! you saved my machine, and yea some money too! good man!
Great news. Glad to help. 😎
I could not stop laughing at "the partners toothbrush " 🤣🤣🤭
Yeh they are so useful!🤣👍
@@jessicabeyer2978 How odd. Maybe the washing programme you are using doesn’t use the Softener compartment.
@@LurgsHowToGuides It does - it used it previously all the time. And as I said, when I followed the advice on this channel, it worked again for one wash but since that one wash it no longer uses it. I tried it on other programmes just to check (more for my own sanity) and it does not work again.
How odd. Sounds like a fault
Your partners toothbrush, very funny!!!
Yes very useful 🤣
5:46 hahaha Thank you Lurgs, it works on my LG machine
Marvellous news. Glad it helped.😎
@@bushkilla7348 Usually creased clothes is because the machine is too full of clothes.
@@LurgsHowToGuides thanks again will try putting less in as well as trying to lower the spin speed if it lets me. The half hour wash is only one that doesn't take forever. Thanks again chief!!
Thank you so much!!! This helped my machine!
Cool. Glad I could help out. 😎
Great video! Thanks for the tip!
My pleasure 😎
Partners toothbrush!! Done! 🤣🤣🤣 Thanks btw! 😊
Glad to help. 😎
I have a Bosch Maxx 6, could you tell me if the fabric softener draw should still be holding water in it after the cycle has finished, as mine does. So I'm not sure if all the conditioner is being taken away. Sometimes when I pull the draw out the water drains away but not all the time.
Conditioner is very thick so sometimes it doesn’t wash away. You can water it down a bit before you put it in which might help.
I am having same problem with my Electrolux washer. There is water in the softener dispenser. I don't use softener at all.
Excellent and easy to understand. Thanks so much
Glad it was helpful! Have a marvellous rest of the weekend. 😎
A brilliant demonstration. Thanks for sharing👍👍. I have to use my own toothbrush, though😝 .
Glad I could help out. I never use my own toothbrush! 😀
"Take your partner's toothbrush and give it a really good scrub."
Hehehe
Yeh she won't notice. 😆
Good tips! Any idea why it would be filling back up with water once the softener has been dispensed? And then not siphoning back so just full at the end of the wash? - 2 month old machine!
We always get a little bit of water in ours leftover but there shouldn't be loads in there, it should all drain into the Drum.
Haha I love this!
I learned all the information I needed and had a good laugh the whole way through!
Great stuff, glad it was useful and kept you entertained. 😎
That was helpful and funny as well 🤗😁
Thank you. 😎
fab! did exactly this really helpful
Great news. Glad it helped.😎
Thank you, i've done all of that but the drawer still fills up with water, any other ideas? thanks
You will always get water in there but there shouldn't be too much. Leave it open after a wash to help with ventilation.
Thank you brother 😊🙏✨

Well done for the advice! Sorted 👏🏻👏🏻
Cool, glad it’s all sorted.😎
Thank you, just sorted my blocked dispenser. Works perfectly again
Great news. Happy to help out and glad you got it fixed. 😎
Do you know how to reset to Factory settings for the Bosch machine you are cleaning, please.
No I don’t I’m afraid, maybe a power off does it but I’m not sure.
Hi @LurgsHowToGuides
Great video! However I'm now super worried now since my machine is not turning on at all now :(
I followed all these steps expect for running an empty rinse at the end, and I recalled from this video is something I should have definitely done!
I think I'm in love haha. Please come do mine!
I wish I did have time! Trying to do UA-cam and a real job as well. Hope it was useful.😎
Super super super thank you sir
No problem.
Glad it helped 😎
Hi Lurgs thanks for the video. I have a question. Brand new Bosch washing machine was delivered to me yesterday. It will not take the softener. I called at the shop and the technician said most probably water pressure is at fault. I removed the hose from the tap and water pressure seems good. It filled a 8L water bucket in 35 seconds.
Would love to here your answer!
Seems like a fob off to me, if washing machine is working ok but not the fabric softener then I’d say that’s a fault, if it’s brand new it should be spraying out into the fabric softener drawer
@@LurgsHowToGuides Thank you very much for your reply man. Will have a technician come over and take it from there. Thanks again
@@LurgsHowToGuides Just commenting again to let you know you were right! They came over changed the pump and is now working!
Oh heck. I did this and found so much mole. No wonder it smells.
@@sandraleyland8748 Yes they do smell. Run that hygienically fresh programme. Also after every wash leave your dispenser drawer slightly open to help it ventilate and it will stop it smelling so much. 😎
@@sandraleyland8748 and just how did a mole get in there or did you mean mould ha ha
Never leave the door or drawer fully closed. That's why you get mold in your washing machine, it can't dry properly. So always leave Them open a little bit.
BasicLaundryDK Yeh good advice, bit of ventilation
I leave the door and dispenser draw open
Great info thanks!
@@R3RLEE My pleasure 😎
I have a brand new Bosch machine and the softener is hardly draining at all. Obviously this is not due to mould... do you have any other ideas?.
@@feelthejoygospel Maybe the washing programme you selected doesn’t utilise the fabric softener
Weed whacked line works better about 1' 1/2' long run it through the water holes too unblock water line holes.

Thank you soo much bro👍
Glad to help 😎
I've dealt with this so many times. Fabric conditioners are made of animal fats like lanolin (the grease from sheep skin and wool). That's what blocks the holes. And stinks of decomposition. I use Co-Operative own brand fabric conditioner which contains no animal fats and is more watery so doesn't block the holes
Thanks for the info. Have a Happy New Year and a healthy 2023.
Useful video, thanks alot
