After doing as the video described, I still had a problem. Turns out there was a kink in the water inlet pipe, which I noticed when I pulled the machine out. After seeing tis and rectifying, it solved the problem. Clearly not enough water pressure to drive water into the softener section. So consider water supply/pressure as another issue. Thanks for the video, which was also very useful.

I have an LG WM3700 front loader. Even if not using fabric softener at the end of each cycle the fabric softener tray was full of water. What worked was to take the tray out and do a proper clean with vinegar , an old toothbrush and a dental pick. Remove the whole tray and then remove the blue cover for the Bleach dispenser. You'll notice under it the blue "tube" that fits over the fabric softenener tube . Make sure those connections are clean and smooth and that the depression on the fabric softener side is scruptously clean as well. Then when re installing the bleach dispenser lid make sure it is seated down well otherwise there's not enough suction to pull the water out of the tray when it drains

Mine looks different. There's no any mold blockage, yet some fragnent remain there. I know it's probably used, because it's mostly too liquified with water, but still not emptying it.
@David0898 The syphon is a Pythagorean syphon en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pythagorean_cup so I doubt that changing the plastic syphon fitting would help. Is it softener or water that's in the tray after the cycle finishes?
@@bigtedshome Water, but a little bit of softener remained there (it's blueish as I use blue softener), it's like only uses a small bit instead of all of it, and the rest remain in the compartment with water filled it.

There's is another issue which is a major issue in third world countries when utilizing the newer front load machines in general. And that's the water presure in combination withe the amount of flow from the lack of presure. When one is dependent of the water from a tank on the roof as most third world countries homes are. Gravity pressure and the distants the water has to travel isn't sufficent for the new machines various sensor's. Having a brand new front loader for the first time, vs an old top load. I had this problem from day one. Installed a booster pump not a normal pump. In which the difference is; It only takes a half horse power booster pump which simply pushes available water from the pipe in which it get supplied. A normal pump which in addition to pushing, needs to be bigger than a half horse power because it sucks the water prior to pushing it. Make sure to install it as close as possible to the machne, and not available to getting wet from the weather. After installing, make sure to bleed the air out as the instructions state. And then set it to automatic. My machine is some 50 meter's from the tank on my roof which cuts the gravity flow and presure dramatically. I installed the pump some 10 or 12 meter's from my machne, and the issue is no longer an issue. One more thing is. Any and all of the various soaps and conditionare, are condensed and will be to thick, always either cut there usage by making the solutions 50/50 product and water or simpy utilize what I learned as a child and utilize distilled white vinigar. Cleans your clothes, cleans your machine, eliminates the build up of mold, doesn't need to be mixed with water. A quarter cup for an average size load as detergent works great. Half that amount in the softner works great. a half horse power booster only pushes available water. A normal one has to be bigger because it also sucks water and then pushes it.
Our fabric softener compartment is full at end of cycle. Like it is filling with water but not draining. Is it simply a case of cleaning tray and all water jets should solve this??
@METHVS02 It's probably water that has splashed over from other compartments. If you want to clear it before adding softener for the next cycle, try topping it up with water until the level is above the maximum mark. This should start the syphon and drain the compartment.
@@bigtedshome Hi Big Ted, so I’ve tried it and it’s still not dispensing the fabric softener. What else can I do?😭 They gave me an estimate over the phone, 300 dollars. I’d rather get a new washer, this one is 4yrs old…😢 What do you think?

Hello. I did everything you recommended and I still couldn’t get my fabric softener or bleach to dispense. I didn’t have a lot of crud or mold. I called a “repair” man and he ended up replacing my water inlet valve costing me $496.00 part & labor! Does this sound right? Replacing the valve?
I don't know which machine you have or exactly what he replaced but that sounds very expensive to me. This website gives typical washing machine repair costs in USD www.aztecappliance.com/blog/is-it-cheaper-to-repair-or-replace-a-washing-machine
Hi have a beko wtb740e1 cleaned the dispenser draw and unit but softner still there, replaced dispenser unit checked inlet filter and pipes but the softner is still there.
Try filling the softener compartment with water to above the maximum level marker. This should start the syphon and the compartment should drain. If this works ok, it indicates that problem is with the water supply to the detergent drawer (probably the inlet valve).
But the weird thing is, i just got the brand new samsung one.. and it just feels like it doesn't have the fabric softener used in the laundry, it did once or twice but now i have it on "x3" on softener but it's not really there.. we barely did 5-6 laundries on ig
Hi, I have the opposite problem with my Samsung washing machine - it dispenses the fabric softner right at the start, together with the detergent. It started doing this after working normally for five years. Any ideas why? The drawer is clean, as are the inlets... Programmed obsolescence?
Try filling the softener compartment with water to above the maximum mark. This should start the syphon and drain the compartment. If this works you know that there is no blockage between the drawer and drum and that the problem is with the water supply to the drawer (possibly the inlet valve).
I'm sorry, I'm not familiar with top loader washers. If it is draining but slowly, I would be tempted to try to flush the outlet through with very hot water as a first option. Top loaders are much more common in the US than here in the UK so I would suggest you have a search through some US forums if the hot water flush doesn't work. Good luck 🤞
@@bigtedshome Thankyou for your swift reply - in messing about with various levers, the whole unit unexpectedly came away and really easily (dumping the water all over the floor but hey that was the point!). It's a brilliant design. So sorted! Barbara
Hey Ted, I need some advice, so we bought an aeg 6000 series lavamat washing machine about 2 years ago now and the the fabric softener never drained even once to my knowledge. I checked for mold or anything that could block the water and not use the fabric softener in the end. But there was nothing, still I tried to clean it somewhat still no results. The area where the fabric softener should go don into looks as if I had got the machine yesterday. If you have some advice I would be grateful to you.
Try filling the softener compartment with water to above the maximum level. This should start the syphon and the compartment should drain. If this happens you will know that the problem is with the water supply to the detergent drawer.
This problem should not occur with a brand new machine. If the machine is only 10 days old, it will be under warranty. Contact the company you bought it from, explain the problem and ask them to either fix or replace it.
@trotsky101 Try filling the compartment with water to above the max level. This should start the syphon and drain the softener. If this works, then there is no blockage between the drawer and the drum so the problem is linked to the water supply to the drawer. It could be an inlet valve (not really a DIY job) or it could be as simple as low pressure due to a twisted/trapped hose. Good luck 🙂
It sounds like the syphon is not draining fully. You could test it by topping the water up manually to above the maximum mark. This should start the Pythagorean syphon and it should drain the compartment.
Try checking if the syphon is working. Fill the softener compartment above the maximum marker. This should start the syphon and the liquid should drain out. If this works it would indicate that water isn't being pumped into the drawer. If it doesn't, then you probably have a blockage either in the syphon tube or between the drawer and the drum.

Thanks for the video. Will there always be water in the conditioner section?
There will normally be a small amount of water left after it flushes away the fabric softener. There shouldn't be more than a few ml though.
Thanks!
You're welcome 🙂
Brilliant very good info
Thanks Stan 👍
What do I do if it still does not work? All totally clean inside the draw, all holes clean and clear.
There are some ideas here inthewash.co.uk/washing-machines/washing-machine-isnt-taking-fabric-conditioner/ I would be tempted to try either the hot wash or the white vinegar clean (solution 8) first as they are quick and cheap. Good luck 🙂
I’m glad it seems so easy but was anyone else repulsed by the mold? 😢
I've cleaned up far more repulsive things than black mould 🙂
Not as bad as a house with mould though as on the Wilson family channel
Very helpful
Thanks Andrew, I'm glad you found it useful 🙂
Brilliant
Thanks for the great feedback 🙂
Mine looks different. There's no any mold blockage, yet some fragnent remain there. I know it's probably used, because it's mostly too liquified with water, but still not emptying it.
Try filling the conditioner compartment with water to above the maximum fill level mark. If it drains out then your syphon is working OK.
I reckon if not, then need to change the syphon then:/
@David0898 The syphon is a Pythagorean syphon en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pythagorean_cup so I doubt that changing the plastic syphon fitting would help. Is it softener or water that's in the tray after the cycle finishes?
@@bigtedshome Water, but a little bit of softener remained there (it's blueish as I use blue softener), it's like only uses a small bit instead of all of it, and the rest remain in the compartment with water filled it.
@@ConsCruptor it sounds like you have a blockage stopping the water from draining. This might help www.whitegoodshelp.co.uk/fabric-softener-compartment-full-of-water/
Lots of good information there. Thanks for posting 👍
This should start the syphon and drain the compartment.
just subbed.... thanks sir.
Thanks 👍

@@bigtedshome Hi Big Ted, so I’ve tried it and it’s still not dispensing the fabric softener. What else can I do?😭 They gave me an estimate over the phone, 300 dollars. I’d rather get a new washer, this one is 4yrs old…😢 What do you think?
@@Freeworld856 There are a few ideas in this link inthewash.co.uk/washing-machines/washing-machine-isnt-taking-fabric-conditioner/ . If you live in a hard water area, I would be tempted to try the white vinegar solutions. They are quick and cheap and could save you a lot of money. Good luck 🤞
@@bigtedshome Thank you, I’ll give them a try..❤️
That's not mold that's yeast bacteria. At least that's what an expert told in a public TV show.
Interesting, I thought yeasts were fungi not bacteria.
Sorry, I've not come across this problem. I'll get back to you if I can find out why this is happening.
A quick search brings up this: www.samsung.com/africa_en/support/home-appliances/the-softener-or-bleach-drains-before-start-why-is-this/
Good luck 🙂
Any advice if we try this and the fabric softener tray STILL won’t drain?
Try filling the softener compartment with water to above the maximum mark. This should start the syphon and drain the compartment. If this works you know that there is no blockage between the drawer and drum and that the problem is with the water supply to the drawer (possibly the inlet valve).
Legend!
Thanks 🙂
What if the compartment is filling with water but not draining? I've cleaned all mould out and it's worse than before.
Try filling the compartment with water to above the maximum level. This should start the Pythagorean Syphon and empty the compartment.
If this doesn’t work don’t forget to check the water valve.
Thanks for the tip 👍
I have a brand new washer and the FS is not draining into the washer. Now the FS compartment is full of water...ugh!!!
If it's brand new, contact the manufacturer and get it fixed under warranty.
How about emptying the water from the fabric conditioner feed of a top loader? Thanks!
So sorted! Barbara

Hey Ted,
I need some advice, so we bought an aeg 6000 series lavamat washing machine about 2 years ago now and the the fabric softener never drained even once to my knowledge.
It drained without a problem, so we'll have the guys who installed it have a look at it. You are awsome, thanks!
what of its new washing machine???
@kensabella9003 If the machine is new, it should still be under warranty.
love u ted 💖💖💖💖
Thanks Will 🙂
My washing machine is 10 days old and it only worked once emptying the fabric softener. All other times the softener remains inside.
This problem should not occur with a brand new machine. If the machine is only 10 days old, it will be under warranty. Contact the company you bought it from, explain the problem and ask them to either fix or replace it.
Mee too. You got me.😂
I’ve done all that and still have the same fault. Any ideas?
@trotsky101 Try filling the compartment with water to above the max level. This should start the syphon and drain the softener. If this works, then there is no blockage between the drawer and the drum so the problem is linked to the water supply to the drawer. It could be an inlet valve (not really a DIY job) or it could be as simple as low pressure due to a twisted/trapped hose. Good luck 🙂
The softener drains in mine but fills water back in. Any ideas ?
It sounds like the syphon is not draining fully. You could test it by topping the water up manually to above the maximum mark. This should start the Pythagorean syphon and it should drain the compartment.
If you do both of those and it still isn't working then what do you do?
Try checking if the syphon is working. Fill the softener compartment above the maximum marker. This should start the syphon and the liquid should drain out. If this works it would indicate that water isn't being pumped into the drawer. If it doesn't, then you probably have a blockage either in the syphon tube or between the drawer and the drum.
@@bigtedshome sounds silly but how would I remove blockage between drawer and drum

Fabric softener is wax. It grows bacteria and mold very well. Got skin problems? Your clothes are probably petri dishes, especially if you let it sit in the washer a little bit and don't put it right in the dryer.
