Dang you Tackle Advisor Guy. I've already got more rods than I have caught fish. And now you do this just before my BIG TRIP TO THE KEYs. hahaha, Actually I'll take this time to thank you for the great reviews that you post up. You already know you do a great job and I appreciate it... Great help for new guys like me.. so a big thank you. I'll let you know what I catch on it in the FL Keys.
Thanks for the very thorough review; it was outstanding. I'm thinking of building something similar from an MHX 10' steelhead blank for beach casting for stripers up here in Maine, but at the price it's hard to beat. It would be a fun build though. Great review, Thanks.
Good Rod but just get a 2020 lunamis almost 50 gr lighter rod with torray carbon and better guides.howeever more expensive and hard to find in usa i assume
Yeah unfortunately, funny thing we can not hands on usa custom Rods the shipping is almost a rod price.Likewise jdm rods are way too expensive and rare in USA.
I have been looking for a lightweight rod to throw goofy jigs for pompano in the surf. Know of any lightweight 10' rods that are half the price of this one that you may recommend?
Got an NS Black Hole Cabin II 1060M coming....mainly coz I it’s pretty hard to get this over in Aus....gears any feedback on one of these @tackleadvisors?
Didn't mention how tip heavy it is because of short handle! Didn't know what tip heavy meant until I bought this. Straightened it out with bgmq 8000 weighing 22 ounces!
Sounds very much like a more powerful version of my Daiwa Labrax AGS 9ft Medium rated 10g-50g (3/8- 1.75oz). I pair it with a stradic 3000 with 15lb braid. Casts 3/4 to 1.25 oz great. Super light too, 5 ounces. My casting form isn't the best though so I'm not getting close to 100 yards.
is there much a difference between these rods and the jigging world nexus rods or ODM DNA? they look similar I wouldn't be surprised if they ordered them from the same factory.
I'm thinking of getting one of these to throw 5/8 oz jerkbaits on 20#braid and a 3000 or 4000 daiwa bg out here on the west coast for halibut, croaker, and big surf perch. I usually fish it with a 12 or 15lb leader just in case I hook a bat ray. Would you say this would be a good rod to cast the jerk bait far? I find that my current 8'6" salmon steelhead rod can do the job but only under the right conditions.
Is that the VR50 you are fishing with? If it is how do you like it. I’m going to order a dark matter ob rod from you link in the next few weeks lol. I’ve been think about getting the VR50.
Have you thought about comparing the Daiwa Coastal TWS 200 to the Daiwa Tatula TWS 200. Coastal (salt water) is $60 more but my guess is they’re the same.
It would be a blast in a baitcast design. I’d like it with a Shimano 20 Calcutta Conquest 200 DC JDM. Pair with a super smooth 15-20lb braid and let it rip.
nice review..thank you!! i both both the Suzuki 9'6 and 10ft..the 9.6 is a beast ..its actually rated to 2oz..but it throws 3.5oz a very good distance, believe it or not, without any issue and still doesn't feel overly spongy despite being well out of its weight range.
Can you please do a review on a Lamiglas night shift rod? I want to get one but no one and I mean no one does a decent review on that rod. Thanks in advance
Picked one of these up along with a Back Bay 4000... Think there is a better match reel wise in that price point? (I am predominantly a West coast striped bass/halibut fisherman)
Thanks Micah... Appreciate it.. I just spoke with him.. He sold out last week or so... I shipped him the rod I wrapped for a baitcaster and he's having another spinning run and baitcaster run made
I throw a VR50 on a bull bay stealth sniper every morning before shift. I have it spoiled with 10lb j-braid grand. It casts fine and reel is smoother now after almost 2 years of use, compared to new. But when my VR was out for service ( drag click piece completely fell off while fishing). I put my fuego lt 3000 on the rod with 15lb x-5 on it. Noticeable increase in casting distance. Kinda wild, but I guess it’s the reel more than the line that’s making that difference. What would you say?
Comparing those two reels....You can get the line spooled right up to the lip on daiwa and shimano reels.....The VR...I remember having it spooled almost up to the bottom lip and there still being room to the top spool lip...(line was machined spool and he knows I like my reels spooled to the lip) The less interaction with the spool lip the longer the cast.....A slow oscillation with many wraps coming off the spool (many inches of line) before it interacts with the lip...means more line paying out before interacting with the spool's lip...The vr has a pretty fast oscillation so only a few wraps of line come off without being affected by the spools lip. The differences in some cases can be very noticeable.......Having the 6k ballistic LT with 20lb grand....I could feel the second period of acceleration after the apex with a 1oz yozuri twitch ...and the carry was impressive....that sensation wasn't there with 15lb x9 and the VR....As forward movement was stifled by the peak of the climb.....How do you like the x 5?
6k ballistic performed flawlessly with this rod.. It's large but light.. The largish diameter spool worked amazingly. I never did any side by side casting tests with say a stradic 4k or ballistic 4k to see if the 6k ballistic outcast it..
Yesterday I broke my favourite rod by catching it in my car door... :( I'm living vicariously through you right now. Also all the fish are spawning right now in the UK so I'm only catching dink pike and perch.
That's a good ways... Definitely spinning and light braid... Not that it's not doable with a baitcaster... But there's quite a bit more that can go wrong with a baitcaster heaving those weights... FYI with a powerful cast and 30lb braid on a powerful rod... 60 yards is pretty good on a 1oz sp minnow
Hi tackle advisor, do you know how to retune zero adjuster to factory setting, without sending to Daiwa back 🥴 if you know , will you please making video how to retune it 😬 thank you tackle advisor
Simple... Tighten it until there is no side to side spool play.. Slowly loosen it until there's is a tiny bit of side to side spool play.. Zero adjuster is a name given to literally nothing more than a more difficult to reach spool tensioner

Another question if you can turn a spinning into a conventional could you take a swimbait rod and turn it into a like spinning swimbait rod with a 5000 reel that is like 2 to 6 ounces but with a 5000 stradic ci4 or ballistic and if you know this question why is their no spinning swimbait rod that are in that 8 foot range but with a high ounce I did find a muskie rod the was rated at like 5 to 12 ounces that wasent a jigging rod but just thought....thanks
Good question...surf rods are essentially swimbait rods for spinners.... You could definitely strip a swimbait stick and re wrap it.... Hell you could likely keep the trigger seat and just cut and grind the trigger off... Cabelas offered spinning musky sticks capable of heavy payloads but their actions were pool cues... I know what you mean there.... An advantage of baitcasters and big baits is thumbing control and braking that help straighten out a bait that wants to spin.... That and lighter weight with ease of use with heavier lines.

Seems like an awesome rod, could go for a shorter model if one comes out. Question for you, both about $110 would you go with a Concept Z or SLX XT for freshwater bass only?
Hey brotha! Never fished the xt...Had the base model and have been fishing the DC...I really like the DC...I like it over the curado k and dc...I like the z at that price....but the slx handle and feel under load are better....even compared to the newer tatula 100..My one gripe is the higher thumb bar on the slx...low brake setting thumbing I had to adjust...going from reel to reel to reel....had to really focus on it for short range slinging and skipping.

X8 is great.. Have it on trout to tuna jigging setups.. Grand has failed on numerous setups in different lb tests... And it frays very easily... It feels great... Looks great... But I've had many failures... (no guide cracks or line roller burrs etc... I checked)
May be difficult dragging big skates up the sand... And I'd likely not recommend using live bait rigs as at least in my experience they require big hooksets to makes sure the hook clears the bait
Hmmmm........ Mag sealed bearings are a pain... No antireverse on off switch.... Oilable rubber seal at the handle entry and open non shielded side plate bearings easily lubed. Added weight makes it feel more refined believe it or not... I can appreciate the weight savings... And 90% of the time I'd go that route... But i enjoy fishing the certate more for some reason... I think most would enjoy the exist over the certate though... And I like the exist weight savings over the Stella.. But not the certate which is odd... And I like the way shimano does it better from the rotor on up... I like the bail open close, line management and drag adjustment of the stradic on up over the exist /certate
hi, really interested in this rod. would you say it’ll do well throwing 2oz diamond jigs during the sand eel bites on the east coast? of course, if you load it up properly. pairing it with a vsx150. thanks!
I wouldn't want this rod for throwing mainly 2oz....and I wouldn't want it to throw 30lb + braid on a 150. 15 to 20lb on a vr 50 or a ballistic 6000 sure but that's just me...

Very well....I put on a 2500 certate and exist LT. Exist had 10lb braid and certate with 8lb braid.....Worked fine.....
last question....pick one, exist lt vs 19 certate wich will you choose regardless of price
