I WILL NEVER BUY BREAD AGAIN 👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿. I just finished making this in my cake pan. I can’t believe how delicious this bread is and so easy to make. Thank you so much for sharing😊. My bread was darker probably from the olive oil or my oven who knows. I didn’t do the last step because of this.
Fabulously simple, tasty recipe. Had my 13 year old mix it all up. Second rise it spilled out of the pan, but was easy enough to push back in and didn't spill over during baking. Definitely don't miss the step of oiling your hands when you work with the dough. Thanks, that was fun, I'll be making this one again.
Great! I have experimented with skillet bread. I have found that the dough patty needs to be small enough to fit in the middle of the pan allowing it room to expand while rising. Put oil on the pan; put the dough patty in the middle of the pan; cover in a way that allows it to rise; but there is a need to have room enough to slip the spatula under the patty after one side is browned. Flip the patty over and let the other side brown. The dough needs to rise sufficiently. Try a small handful of Flaxseeds in the dough. Thank you for your helpful and informative videos!
Thank you. I made this today and it's gorgeous so easy.. Even my husband like it because it's chewy. He wasn't a believe of no knead bread. but I think he is now!
Having just used this skillet for the first time, ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxIst1DRMCWM6dgd9VjXMFXlH4HeElE6Mc to batter-fry some macaroni & cheese, I'm absolutely in love with it. The foldaway design means it actually fits in my very small kitchen, but it also makes everything crazy simple to clean. While the instructions say you should not deep fry in this, you can, but do it with your best judgment; in my case the oil didn't even reach the halfway mark. It's hard to see in the pictures, but the skillet itself has a lip in the corner. This allows steam to get out during cooking if the lid is on (so don't try to steam rice in it), and makes pouring out used oil extremely easy.Cleanup was a dream. After detaching the plug and control circuit, the unit is just three separate pieces: The skillet itself, the lid, and the base which may or may not need any cleaning at all (usually just the handles). Compared to a dedicated deep fryer I purchased in the past, where the heating element was suspended in the oil and everything was difficult to clean, the difference was amazing.I'm definitely looking forward to using this for more things in the future.
You’re AMAZING! Thank you for teaching me how to “feed” the yeast! My bread finally rose like it should! Love your videos! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! ❤
Thank you for this video. I made it exactly like you are showing, except I used organic spelt flour and organice whole wheat flour, it turned out delicious. I did add a little more water as I think the whole wheat flour made the dough a little more dry than yours.
thank you so much for sharing dear Bettie. I will use sesame seeds on the dough just before it goes in the oven. thank you again. super simple and will sure to try it
Hi baker better Can I bake this bread in a cake pan. I don't have a skillet pan. I own a grilled pan but I think the bread might stick bcos of the grooves at the bottom
Hi there. Unfortunately that won't work for this recipe. Yeast bread needs the gluten structure to hold the gasses in from the yeast, so it isn't an easy substitution. You will want to find a bread recipe that is specifically written to be made with those flours.
I hope so too! If you really enjoy bread baking, now might be the time to try your hand at natural yeast (aka a sourdough starter). All you need is flour and water. I walk through the whole process here: ua-cam.com/video/ViD0zAovcWs/v-deo.html
you forgot to add one tea spoon of sugar for the yeast to digest and make the dough rise. And since you use an oven, then how exactly is this a "skillet" bread? Skillet bread needs no oven, but is done on stove top, no?
@@TWOCOWS1the sugar isn't for the person eating the bread. It's for the yeast. Yeast eat sugar and create alcohol and CO2, which bubbles out in the oven and makes the bread rise
An unopened package of yeast can be stored in a cool location for up to two years. Once the yeast is opened, it's best kept in the refrigerator to use within four months, and six months if kept in the freezer.
@@BakerBettie Thanks for getting back im stiil a newbie Sourdough baker followed your series on sour dough and the Starters alive and well ( Bob ) and have had good success ,,, Cheers
Milliliters are exclusively used to measure liquid. It is not common at all to use it to measure dry ingredients and if I did that many people would be very confused.
@@BakerBettie Except a) spoon and cup are measures of volume, not weight, and it makes no sense to translate them to grams, and b) you don't use these measures exclusively for liquids yourself.
The bread is made in a skillet which is why it's called skillet bread. While you can also bake the bread on a sheet pan, using a skillet will give the bread a lovely crunchy bottom.

I made this with whole wheat flour and added cinnamon. Very fun and easy recipe, thank you!

Thank you for doing such a good job at explaining how to make this bread. Your explanation was very clear and simple.
It worked really well with me, came out much better than I expected! Thank you!!

Thank you for the recipe. You explain each step in detail. Your instructions are clear and easy to follow.
Good recipe loud and clear iwill yry it. Thanks for sharing.
My pleasure!
From India.. thank you very much for the recipe. Our family is delighted with the results.
I'm so glad!
This bread looks so inviting and perfect for having with veggie soup❣️

That sounds delicious!
My favourite bread recipe.
I like the “bread with very little effort” perspective.
Haha me too
when scoring / furrowing the top of the dough, the utensil will not stick to the dough if it is wetted with water.
Good tip!
Thanks for sharing!
Love this!!
Wow that simple ! I have to try !
Awesome video !
Let me know if you do and how you like it!
Super easy and amazing dear thanks for sharing
You're welcome!
This is prob theeeee best easiest beautifully tasting bread I do suggest before cooking use vigorous amount of olive oil
So glad you like it!
Made this bread and it turned out great!
Glad you liked it!
Wonderful skill
will try this one too.
You've got a great channel, very informative and impactful. New subscriber here.
Awesome, thank you!
Hi baker better
Can I bake this bread in a cake pan. I don't have a skillet pan. I own a grilled pan but I think the bread might stick bcos of the grooves at the bottom
Yes, you can! Just make sure it is greased really well!
Tx so much
Fab! Could you show a sourdough version of this?
I will try this. . Thank you 😍
I hope you enjoy it!
Can you make this with coconut and or almond flour? I do keto. Also, if so, how would you change the amount of flour and other ingredients?

Still haven't found yeast...even on Amazon( except for the bulk size). Hope the stores will eventually stock again :)

Can I use baking powder and if yes then how much. I have plenty at home which will expire soon and I don't want to trash it
Don't use it in this recipe but look at my quick bread recipes here: bakerbettie.com/category/recipes/breads/muffins-and-quick-bread-loafs/
Can I add any other ingredients, say like jalapeno peppers and say cheese?
Thank you very nice
Excellent!
Thanks 🙏🏽 for sharing
You are so welcome
Can you use dried rosemary in this?
Absolutely!
do you place the skillet on lower or middle rack in oven? thank you.
The rule is: cakes & cookies bake in upper third of oven (so place on middle rack), bread & pies bake lower (put on rack below the center rack).
This is my goto again. Im back. 3years ago today😅🎉 ❤
Could I add a pinch of sugar to give it a hint of sweet?
yes!
Will loaf pan work?
Did the loaf pan work? My bread is rising now so I’m hoping you’re somebody that’s on UA-cam frequently.
I converted this recipe so that I can use my sourdough discard in it I can't wait to see how it turns out
How did it turn out?
Mine was slightly burnt underneath but I think it will be better next time.. 🙂
can you use gluten free all purpose flour?
Yes you can. As long as your gluten free flour contains xantham gum.
Please made no knead Pullman loaf.

Yeah. Tell her
but it’s more healthier without sugar

how long does yeast last?...

Hi Betty what size is the skillet please
You can use a 10 or 12" size.

by boiler do you mean broiler?
Yes!
most easy way

Please make a no knead Pullman loaf.
That's a great idea! We'll see!
It would be better to have the spoon/cup equivalencies in millilitres instead of grams. Not everyone owns a scale that can accurately measure 8 grams.

Came out hard as a rock.
Maybe I did something wrong.
So you need to have electricity because the skillet is not used to bake the bread on top of the stove.
Hehehehe am eating nine ight bowww.wwwwow..u good
👍
beer or ale instead of water

Obviously this takes 2 1/2 hours from start to finish
I followed the recipe (I think) but it came out a bit “doughy” . Any ideas as what I did wrong?
Not cooked enough, oven not hot enough or not preheated.
some of us thought it was stove-top. disappointed.
I'm sorry you were disappointed! This recipe is a "no-knead" recipe. Bread can not be made on the stove.
@@BakerBettie i just watched 5 or 6 videos yesterday that prove otherwise.
I came here for Skillet bread.... not Oven bread !
