  • 6 movie music genres, 6 movies BUT THEY DON'T MATCH - or do they? Secrets of James Bond to Halloween REVEALED with 'the world's funniest conductor' Rainer Hersch and his Orkestra.

    THIS CLIP
Rainer Hersch and his Orkestra explain six different music genres: "Cute Animals", meaning wildlife Documentaries (like Planet Earth, March of the Penguins), "Romance" or Rom-Com (When Harry Met Sally, Four Weddings and a Funeral), "Action" (Mission Impossible, James Bond), "News" Channel, "Western" (Unforgiven, the Good, the Bad and the Ugly), "Horror" (The Exorcist, Halloween). They then play their movie pastiches, but against the wrong movie, with hilarious results.
    MILTON JONES
"Who here has got a cat at home? Your house STINKS" is a joke by Milton Jones miltonjones.com/ . Rainer and Milton are friends. At least they were before he used his joke.
The Rainer Hersch Orkestra consists of violin, viola, cello bass, clarinet, horn, piano and percussion. Not forgetting Rainer's inimitable whistling. This clip was filmed at London's iconic Cadogan Hall on New Year's Eve 2019.

I recently learned that having John Williams score Home Alone was originally proposed as a ridiculous sort of joke when their original composer backed out, only for them to realize "the worst he can say is 'no'", and he had the availability and said "yes". I'm quite certain that that is at least 50% (probably more) of the reason that movie became the timeless classic that it did. Apparently, it was a low-budget film, otherwise, not expected to return very much. Hard to imagine, today, knowing of the movie's success.

It reminded me of an old Monty Python Sketch (Eric Eidle) where a couple are in bed, things start getting romantic, then b/w movie clips with a smokestack falling in reverse, the train into the tunnel, waves crashing, fountains squirting, a quick flash of Richard Nixon, then the train leaves the tunnel, and the smokestack falls. I thoroughly enjoyed this clip and am dumbfounded at how you all played the ambulance and romance music together. Well done!!

Interesting, clever and amusing! Thank you.
The subtitles helped me to hear so much better! I am glad I remembered them as it was well worth the effort of switching them on.

Couldn't help but notice in the top right for some of the videos, there are flashing dots and dashes. I'm assuming those are there to help keep time?

I love this , humor and music combined to engage and entertain the audience, we do that a lot durng our concerts with our little fanfareband. We have a band member who is ver good at this , we dont like to do the normal stuffy announcements of the music we play
