I have a 1996 ranger 461 VS wanted the flipping deck in mine I had the same problem the wood was too heavy so I ended up using a plastic pallet cutting it and it worked out great it was lightweight it was more sturdy than the wood I didn’t use the word on the sides to hold it I used aluminum angle iron it worked out so great give it a shot

Darn, was already forming an email in my mind to ask for your deck addition dimensions for my 90 Ranger 364v until I heard the don't even think about asking... Great job guys! Glad to see what was already in my mind come to reality.

Those deck additions to those older rangers are killer if I was running one it would be a must have

I’ve used plywood in the past and always had problems with it later on, even when I soaked it in epoxy, the next time I have to make a lid or a deck extension I think I’m going to try starboard it’s a thick plastic you can shape with a router. Don’t know if you can span the with you have but you could divide it in half for more support.

Looking good guys…Your on the right track. I used a piece of HDO for my top and have absolutely zero flex in it and that’s with me weighing in at 230lbs. I painted my material with a oil based paint and then pad / carpet. The comment about it rotting out in a year is totally in accurate. Good luck

Deck looks good! Omg that fish must’ve been huge!! A rather unusual fighting technique. Could’ve been a largemouth striped halibut lol.

If you tackle this again in the future note that the factory insert rested solely on the locker edges. No added braces.

I personally would like to of seen a step added to the build. It would be much easier to get up onto the deck.

@@MealeyMarine ahhh… so aluminum is the best option. That’s what I’m doing then. I’m trying to reduce weight and not compromise on quality.
