After watching the video advert i was still skeptical. But when i finally downloaded the plans ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxZF0EMnrujZvqHhGkxiz559uIABJWR9TG i was very impressed. The whole plan was just as you said in the video. Thank you very much. I now have a large and valuable collection for my woodworks. This is great!
It looks great! I have about 4 or 5 skateboards that I have not used in years. Watching this makes me want to go back to all of them and restore them! Thanks for the inspiration!
Awesome, this is a great vid to keep in mind for an old deck. The wood pattern is a nice undertone for decals and what not. Great to see someone condoning skating.
I was thinking to myself as I scrolled through a lot of teenagers trying to explain how to do this- I need me a Hank Hill to explain how to do this properly. And BAM UA-cam delivered me Jon Peters. Thank you Mr. Peters for helping me customize a board for my little niece. You have done your part in the Keep Kids off of Scooters Campaign.
This is a great video and I loved what you said about the first experience you had with woodworking and how knowledge takes us places we never dreamed of.
I'm doing the same thing. Not really a fan of the design, but for what you did it's really nice. I asked my dad for some paint thinner but he didn't have it so I used an electric sander. I then put some type of filler to help the cracks in my old board and sanded them down with a grinder. I should have kept the wheels off until I painted it.. but oh well.. Maybe i'll take them off once I start painting or maybe ill just put some tape over them. I've been a painter for ten years, but I lack patience.
Very nice, this has a cool adaption of (wood-) style into another (skate-) world. I really like the amount of comments on building / doing it, too. Most people (me included) are tempted to get a good spray coat at once or at least twice. Patience is the key to good work (and to have respect to your product, no matter what it is) and that's what you're transporting in general in your videos. Keep it up!
Jon i tell you what, your such a chilled out guy who is great at arts! i really love your videos and i hope they will still be on for a few more years :) Anyway Have a good 1 :D
This is so cool mate. I watch other videos of yours but just happened to stumble on this. Looking forward to starting my own skateboard project now. Thanks for the tips and all the great vids!
thanks for the tutorial! what kind of clear coat did you use on this board? does it hold up over time for skateboarding (vs just hanging it up as art)? i'd appreciate as many specifics as you can give me !
love the video! (:) ). i cant skateboard yet, but i love skateboards there just so cool to me and i just think that you nail'd how to paint it! so thank you for making and showing this video to us on youtube. and good luck!
I painted my board. I didn't plan on riding it, just wanted wall art. I'm pretty sure I used a clear coat finish, but now I'm riding and my attempts at grinding/sliding, my paint job is coming up. I'm wondering if I should use epoxy for the final clear coat. Or even go so far as a thin sheet of fiberglass (I have 2oz and I found 1/2oz from a hobby/model shop). I guess it depends on how important the art is.
You know this with spraypainting skateboard and splashing some soap for a cool effect... Can you do that directly on the tree? What i mean is can you sandpaper the board and the direct put soap on it, spraypaint and then clean it or do you need atleast 1 layer of paint before you put the soap? Is it bad for the tree with soap?
thanks for the this video its going to really help me out on my longboard but the design i want to do on it is REALLY hard to do by hand..... do you think it would be a good idea to print out the designs and apply them to the board or switch to a different design???
U are like the best dad to ever have for ur kid
Thanks man

Love it! Just ordered a blank deck to design and paint myself, so this was very helpful. And I really like the wood grain effect. Sweet 👌
I would've went with a crimson/ really dark red on the last part where u were spraying, just to get a little more contrast with the black center
1:08 That stripper better be doing the work
I see what u did there :)
HAHAHAHHA

Your son is so lucky to have a dad like you! Although to be honest if my dad were this great I wouldn’t have been angsty enough to try skateboarding.

Your only mad because there's some mongo pushers better then you.

You need to make a TV show! Love the videos especially the woodworking ones.

Very Helpful Jon! As a guitar player would love to see you maybe tackle a guitar finish. Anyways, food for thought. Cheers. Subscribed.
Modern silk screen graphics come off easily with mineral spirits. Wipes right off
Really cool video man!!

Uma dica seria lixar as bordas, dessa forma seria um diferencial.
Cool vid this is the first video o watched on your channel
Love the design
This was very very helpful for me thank you very much
What is and the wood grain technique you use? I'm very interested to learn it. I like that look.
This is so satisfying :D
Nice, really nice. Electric blue would have made it stunning. The same colour as the tape?
i you were to stain the wood a color such as blue or red, before you painted it and did the wood grain effect in the paint, that would look so cool
Epic work! Thank you for the inspiration
Thanks man
freakin awesome board!
Thanks
***** You are welcome! The lines look amazing.
