Singing my tune, we skipped the boat this weekend due to the heat. We reached that point also where I’m not going through all the effort to be miserable. Appreciate your authenticity as always!
This video was actually filmed three weeks ago and it's been crazy hot throughout. We will be making some serious changes to help work around the uncomfortable boating days. Keep an eye out for updates here on the channel...
Excellent Paul! We also can’t be bothered going out when it’s this hot. We use our boat much more in September and May/June than this time of year. Plus we live on lac St. Louis, and as you know and have commented in the past, construction holidays here in Quebec, well we hide. Keep your videos coming sir!
We almost didn't come to the boat this weekend due to the continuing hot/humid spell, but bit the bullet before our season comes to a close. More on that later...
Looks like it was humid too. Heat+humid is oppressive.. I get it. Those are "day boating" days for me... trip to a restaurant, stop and swim at a few spots and head back.😎 Genny is good, but not for hours on end... at least on a "smaller" boat where you can hear and feel it.
I was clearly upset in this video, frustrated by how our 2-3 weeks away got squashed due to the heat, as well as other factors. All will be explained in a future video.
Yes, but we didn't get in to boating just to spend endless weekends stuck in the marina. We're making some changes to work around that situation, with updates coming soon.
We had a larger boat with genny and a/c but it seemed pointless to be at the boat and confined to the smallish cabin. So we sold the 38 and went smaller. Now with a 29.5' cutty we find that we go to the marina and quickly take the tonneau off and leave the dock! Stop for a swim or BBQ if not too hot out. We head back to the marina, close the boat up and done for the day. Works for us, but we're 10min from the marina and either Lake Huron or the St.Clair river is at our marina's doorstep. Perfect!
We did one better. Left the boat on Sunday morning to hang out on our deck, enjoy the sunshine and the ability to duck inside quickly for a cool down. Or grab another cool one 😜🍻
Oh man, where are the good old days when the temperature was boater friendly throughout the summers, and when the worse enemy was... time (and money) and finding and waiting for parts, lol. Totally admire your call for an early return. To your point, we postponed our 5-day boating vacation this weekend (Ottawa, Ontario) to next week so hot it is outside now. Next year's Trent Severn boating vacation will be in May and June for us because of the heat, and traffic. The new development that you're annoucing is very intriguing: the image that immediately popped in my mind was a sedan cruiser like one of your previous boats for more room with cockpit AC, and staying more at the dock and marinas than locks for comfort, I'm probably way off, just showing interest, looking forward to your next videos as always :)) Enjoy that Corona on ice my friend, cheers!
Yes, we often talk about how much the weather has changed, with the more stable good old days seemingly behind us now. Keep an eye out for updates on our plans in a coming video. You may be surprised...
I'm sorry your vacation was cut short because of the heat. I live on the Gulf Coast of Texas, so I understand the heat. Yes, it is hot, no matter where you live.
Yes, and as the summers continue to provide less and less 'normal' boating conditions, the excessive heat, strong winds and sometimes endless rain is really forcing us to look at different ways to continue to enjoy our time on the water. Stay tuned for updates. . .
We gave up street motorcycles partially because of the heat here in Texas. I see folks in their leathers riding in 100+ heat. I wonder if they are really having fun.
We follow another UA-camr who periodically jumps on his Harley for short runs and I also question about how flipping hot that's gotta be in leathers and sweaty helmet 🥵
Was talking to some loopers at Trent Port on Saturday that were from Florida. They could not believe the heat right now. They asked if this was typical for our summer. When I told them yes they could not believe it. They where completely blown away to find 80°F water temperature well traveling the Bay of Quinte last week.
Paul, I agree with you and so does country girl about turning around and heading home. Hot is hot but when it's hot and humid breathing becomes difficult when your older it could be dangerous. Pull a 180 and head home so you can enjoy another day. Boating is supposed to be enjoyable and not spending your time in the AC.
Our first 4 day boating adventure 30 years ago on the Erie Canal was in the heat of July with no a/c. I filled the floor well with ice and put a fan next to it to blow the cool air around the small boat. It worked amazingly great. But I'm with you, age makes it soooo much harder to adapt to things like that. One question, why doesn't the a/c work as well off the geni as it does on shore power?
Our A/C works just fine when running off of the 7.2 kW generator, the only issue being that we're not going to run the genny continuously, so that means the air conditioner is only on for short periods of time throughout the day (2 hours in average). Whereas, being connected to shore power means that the air conditioners never have to be shut off. Make sense?
@@BoatingWithBoogaboo Absolutely makes sense. I'm in retirement and wanting to do go to a bigger boat, that 2 ftitis thing, and now I realize how important a/c and geni are. Thanks for sharing and hope you get your vacation in this year.
Yes sir. Given that we are only located less than 300 miles away from you as the crow flies, we'll experience similar weather conditions throughout the year. And we even have snakes this far north 🤣
Hello paul started are 7 day holiday with 37 degrees Did cool down but ya to warm We have to small dogs and put 40 hours on are gen trying to keep cool Boating is in your blood, so I'm really interested in finding out your future plans Got to di what's right for you Take care Ryan
I have to say this has been one of the hottest summers in some time. I was in Hastings in last month and it was nasty. And I'm ready for fall already 🤣
Sorry you guys got backed so badly - definitely want to be able to enjoy the boating experience and not get cooked like a lobster 😅 - thanks for all of the cool videos and safe travels back to your home marina! ⛵️😎
Thanks! But spoiler alert, we've been back home for the past three weeks - but minimal boating. Stay tuned for updates as to what/where and why/how we will be making our summer adventurizing better and a lot more comfortable. . .
A few years back, we rented a condo on Panama City Beach in January. Had much better than expected weather for the time of year at PCB and then headed farther south, all the way down to the end of the road in Key West 🌴🍻. It was actually so hot down there that we ended up leaving after days earlier to get some relief 'up north' in Fort Lauderdale 🙃 Sure was a hot one!! 🥵
paul hang there i hear the frustration in your voice hope you start early and ride home goes smooth for you guys maybe 2 Corona lights after you tie up at home !
Hi boogaboo! First time commenting, but have enjoyed your videos for years. Was wondering where you get parts for the older sea rays? I just purchased a 2000 sundancer 410 and am looking forward to upgrading/replacing a few things. Ice maker on deck is first!
Check my How I Did It playlist to see where many of the items I've changed have come from. There's no Sea Ray store, but many different suppliers that would be happy to take your money 😂
HMMMM. Interesting. We can totally identify with the ridiculous heat and humidity, which is the highlight (aka lowlight) of the video I'm posting tomorrow as well ironically!
At least I think Corona in Canada is from Mexico, this is not the case in many countries so i stopped buying it , if I want Chinese beer I’ll buy Tsingtao
Corona hasn't come from Mexico in years for us (me), as it's now brewed locally by one of the big 'Canadian' brewers. Unfortunately, for some unknown reason, their production continues to drop, making finding it increasingly difficult 😖
where would we be without genny? we boat for pleasure, not torture. why suffer needlessly. we’ve had days where we’ve just gone home same day with no regrets and great daytime memories. there’s nothing to prove to anyone. boat the way you wanna boat
We are and will, thank you! That said, we're looking to make some serious changes so that we can enjoy summer all season long, despite the weather conditions. Stay tuned...
@@BoatingWithBoogaboo Ah I thought you were happily retired. But do you think boating would be cooler and more enjoyable berthed in the Killarney area if one wasn't tied to a job?

We skipped the boat last weekend as well, choosing to do some adventurizing instead. More on that coming up.
That’s why we left Simcoe for the cool breeze’s of Georgian Bay a few years back. So sick of going up and down than sweltering trench! 😂

I totally get it. It’s been horribly hot this last week.
The older I get the more I don’t like being out in it.

Not a bad thing, only a little different. But still gonna be fun ☺️
I get it man... totally agree... it's not fun or enjoyable when temps + humidity are too high. Can't wait to hear what plans you guys have.
Lots of ideas floating around...
Boating is great but safety and comfort is paramount
Agreed. At this point, it wasn't fun for us anymore.
