  • It is finally time to start up for the first time the completely overhauled BMW M54B30 engine. In this video we going to talk about, what is the break-in procedure which we are doing after complete engine rebuilds. This video will include the installation of the Mishimoto coolant radiator + the upgrade from clutch to electrical fan. In the end of the video, we going to show the updated version of the crankcase ventilation system.

    I really like your M54 video series! After i see the modifications (ati damper, m56 valvecover, ip coils, stewart pump und mishimoto cooler) i think the car maybe get supercharged. Something like ess ts2… ✌🏻😄

    Very nice video and very good explanation of the break in process! 🙂 I would like to ask, is it true that after every oil change at the first start the engine will have a bigger wear than usual? This would mean that we 🤔harm the engine with frequent oil changes

    that crank ventilation setup will introduce a lot of vacuum to the system. you don't have oil cap sucked on it's fitting?

    Amazing work dude, been following for a while.
    Do u know if this electric fan solution with work on a E39 M54? I also recently rebuilt my complete motor and would like to remove the viscous fan. Tnx

      Yes it will work on E39 too, we going to do this in the next videos, but it will be not very soon uploaded

    Let me ask something, i gonna replace my headgasket on my m57, and take the head to do full service, what you do with the lifters when you rebuild engines, take all the oil and mount them like that or take some oil and mount like that? Some people said that you have to remove all the oil and that they will charge on the first start but indict know if is good ideia to take all the oil or just let some oil but make them soft

      We are removing the oil from the lifters and install them like that.

    Hi, what is the difference between the 2 Airboxes from m54? I see you have a square one while mine is a bit different. It has more edges. I have a 323Ci M54B25 if I'm not wrong. Can I buy a airbox like yours and will work the same?

      Yours should be smaller. It will work, but in the bad way. Better stay with yours, except you don't swap to M54B30 engine.

    What is that head ? First time I see a head like this one a m54 engine (I own a m54 and it's normal head like the m52)

      Looks like a m54 with an m56 valve cover. I was thinking about swapping to m56 cover also because it is aluminum (won’t crack like the plastic) but also it has the CCV built in so it is internal instead of that rat nest under the intake manifold lol!

      It is only M56 valve cover, with normal M54 cylinder head. In the description of the video I have included the installation of the valve cover.
