Overdrive in guitar playing refers to: A form of audio signal processing used in guitar amplification. Altering the tone of the instrument. Associated with electric guitars, especially in rock, blues, and other genres. Simulating the sound of driving a tube amp hard enough to distort the clean guitar signal. Achieved by mixing pre-amplified guitar signals with less-than-maximum amplified tones to create desired distortion. Youre welcome. How much is this thing btw lol?
This is a cool idea. It would be cool to velcro them to your guitar somehow and have a pedal board on your guitar or pickgaurd for 'on-board' effects at your finger tips.
If it was battery operated i might velcro one onto my guitar to kick in leads. it would be mostly a gimmick but people would get a kick out of it i think
The Cuvave Cube Baby works wonder velcroed (invented word i guess) on a guitar, i did it on my 3/4 and i can be sure on a full size would be even more comfortable.
I think this pedal was just MADE for you to demo!!! Nobody else could have done this, great job, you are the best!! Takes skill to make this li'l guy sound good and you nailed it. Very entertaining, thanks for the many smiles and chuckles.
Haha. I’m always stoked to see another 60 cycle video posted. Ryan is the man. He’s always putting positive vibes out into the guitar fx world. I could have never guessed the size of that thing until you compared it to a pic. Insane! The only thing I’d be worried about is it appeared to have no aluminum sides? If anyone has heard a circuit out of its case there is SO SO much noise and interference etc. I hope they incased the circuit properly? Anyways. This is just fun as hell. Too bad I’m not a “Screamer” type guy. But if the price is right, it would be fun to have around :) Cheers
I like it for 2 reasons, 1.it's so small they couldn't even fit its printed name on it properly. 2. it's perfect for the angry foul mouthed leprechaun who lives at the bottom of my garden who wakes me up every morning with his 200watt Marshall stack at 6 a.m.
Proof of concept. Now to release a full line of pedals. Build a pedal board that you could put on a harmonica holder, and you could turn pedals on/off with your mouth. As the lord intended.
Thanks for the demo. I like the pedal but my one gripe would be the angled plug with the dongles. Still wouldn’t spend $100 on it but at least it sounds decent.
Olinthus mentioned that they're working on a pedalboard and more pedals so I think the angled plug is to help with routing through a pedalboard instead of using it standalone like this.
Have to admit it sounds great, and I would love a whole series of these for my Eurorack synthesizer toys 😊 Would be cool if it had separate mini jacks for stereo in and out, then I could use it with any headphone sources. Thank you wife ❤
Kinda fun. Sounds good. Its like someone chopped a Cube Baby into thirds. I love my cube baby. Perfect multi effects for playing a gig for a room of drunks. This tiny stuff is a game changer.
would this fit in an upper control plate for a Jag? Or does it just want to be sticky-tacked onto a guitar strap or pickguard? Hung from the neck of my Metal Zone necklace around my neck?
I wonder how durable they are compared to more "conventional" pedals? Not just the foot switch but the controls! On the up side, a board of tiny pedals like that would be easier to travel with.
to be fair the micro boss pedal josh scott had was smaller but it didn't have adjustable knobs. i made a mosrite fuzzrite that was smaller than a pack of cigarettes and is used a 9 volt battery that was the smallest i ever got wheni id he challenge but in me and my buddies buid off the pedal had to use a 9volt battery. and just the other day i made a silicon fuzz face type pedal whre the circuit was smaller than a quarter it was a pedal to keep in my guitr case. all tht being sid this little guy is pretty cool
Imagine a micro pedal board where the pedal board itself handles the adapter functions for about 10 of these little things. Please make an FZ-2 clone called "sweat bee" lol. edit: oh I just watched the official video "I can neither confirm nor deny we are working on a little pedal board that fits about five of these"
A little digital watch display and a strap might be cool. Although realistically I would need to keep this in the tin at all times or it would just get destroyed
I'd forget that it was in my pocket and throw it in the washing machine with my jeans, or I'd probably just lose it. It needs one of those Bluetooth air tags, which you can use to help you find your car keys when you misplace them.
I’m begging you, mighty king of drip, please let the entire 2 Princetons theme play. Like.. the whole song. During a regular vid. Just sit there like always, let it finish then continue the video.
Hate to break it to you, but this has been done before. You of all people should know this Blondie. Check out the "Micro Effect" series that Guyatone released back in the day. In particular the Guyatone "The Fuzz" in that same line.
OK. I'm both slow and relatively new to this channel, which I LOVE btw, but the Two Princes thing HAS to be a reference to the fact you look just like Chris Barron, right? Or am I crazy?
Yo, fender just re-released the hello kitty squier strat! With a cool fuzz pedal and other shit! You should get them to send you one, switch out the humbucker for a P90, and install a bigsby...and make it a surf punk killing machine! 😺
Guitars always sound beautiful from the day we were born. Yo ? since when does look or size matter , it's SOUND that matters. if it's just a size gimmick, well, they fit everything in your cell phone, might as well just use a phone ap for effects. Sorry, if anything being so small it's easier to misplace or break! I'm not amazed by the sound of the circuit.
The makers said in one of their videos “rumors” of compressor, reverb, and fuzz… with a mini pedalboard for them down the line. Sounded more like a wishlist, and if the Cicadas don’t sell well I’m not sure they’ll get there. I want one but I’m not sure I should 😅
No it is not! Its the worst. My electro harmonics muff fuzz in '79 was just slightly bigger and gave a great tone sounding like a well tuned chainsaw and that sounds like a backfiring lawnmower that wont start
Holly crap ! What's that sh*t ? Where is the footswitch ? 100 dollars ???!!! I mean, I can literally buy 5 pedals on Aliexpress for this price, with a real jack and a footswitch. " where did I leave my keys...and MY OLINTHUS CICADA OVERDRIVE??? "
@@teknomanning looks like a small stereo jack used in the way that one channel is in and the other channel is out, hence the "dongle" has to big female jacks
That's a bit much for it. 99 bucks... I was expecting it to be in the 45 range, but it is nich so that makes it low volume and more expensive. I'm not impressed with the company not wanting to really make Any other pedals this might be it for a while and a tube screamer I got.
gimmicks! i guess as an always on application with little room left on your board, it could come in handy... but then with those open sides, debris and gunk and stuff could get in there and interfere with little effort.....
what's the point of this product ?
Fun. Ever heard of it?
tube screamer tone for your pocket amp?
Candy doesn't have to have a point.

We were blessed with lots of Two Princetons this day
This is a cool idea. It would be cool to velcro them to your guitar somehow and have a pedal board on your guitar or pickgaurd for 'on-board' effects at your finger tips.
Mark Mothersbaugh of Devo has up to three full sized pedals taped to his guitar. It's certainly a look
If it was battery operated i might velcro one onto my guitar to kick in leads. it would be mostly a gimmick but people would get a kick out of it i think
Fender has an Eric Clapton mid booster that will give you overdrive in your guitar
The Cuvave Cube Baby works wonder velcroed (invented word i guess) on a guitar, i did it on my 3/4 and i can be sure on a full size would be even more comfortable.
"on board" 😂
oh dang actually these make sense for synth players, especially ones that like to keep a small footprint.
Honey, I Shrunk The Mids
How has this comment not gotten more likes? 🤣🤣🤣
@@GregoryMerritt-o1f I honestly agree
Yes the SI of pedals, the Metal Zone. Got me good!!!
Hey, missed opportunity to pitch up two Princetons theme to make it sound smol like the pedal ;)
Missed opportunity to call it the Noisy Cricket
I CAME HERE TO SAY THIS
Ha a MIB pun.....😂love it
I mean... It is called a CICADA.... Lol
Name is already taken for a mini amp
Is it worth it!?
I think it’s fun and enjoyed the video 😂 If I’m going to spend $99 on a tube screamer though, it’s not going to be this.
Maybe it could be renamed the "Tube squeaker" Whatever, Its Cool!

Given my track record with picks I give 3 hours before it’s in the washing machine or I drop it and it vanishes from all existence.
I know I'm still looking for my red Dunlop 70 mm with the nubbies on it.🤔😐😑😶😣
Some one should mod it into the body of a guitar

That's an eventuality. I'm sure of that.
@@crock2434 that's exactly what i also thought
I thought the same. And expand the series. I want to see a reverb and delay.
@peterabigania a compressor pedal ,phaser, etc...and use bug species for the titles....aw man would be awesome.

FINALLY, AN ALWAYS ON TUBESCREAMER PEDAL THAT SOUNDS GREAT!! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Imagine if you could make a belt with little pedals like this and wrap them around you.
I got the email from reverb today and was hoping you would have a video about it asap. The stars have aligned.
Man... now I wanna make a "Micro Board"... how sweet would that be? I'm down with this!
I need to find a way to mount this on my Jazzmaster or route it to my rhythm circuit and put it under the pickguard.
Love the pedal board 3d printing
Actually, you are not wrong. The two Princetons jingle, along with similar things, is exactly what keeps us coming back.
I’m amazed it arrived with your address redacted!
I literally said "wow!" when you put the Metal Zone beside it!
Oh this would be *excellent* for one of those built-in pedal setups you see sometimes!

When the jacks are larget than the device. We should all sollow suit and switc to 2.5mm jacks, one up the MIDI boffins.

Just got my vai spark amps. It's so tiny and sounds better than everything else I had since 85. This would be a nice addition
Yep! that thing was built for an angry Leprechaun to be sure!
How entertain is this, Thanks Ryan.
This is awesome, hope they have a tiny Fuzz pedal in mind next!
FUZZMASTER! :D
You could have a set of pedals like these glued on the body of your guitar and activate them with your fingers 🤯
@@jeffchicao they made guitars like that already, look up the cort effector
Oh I can totally see this mounted to an amp or head for an always on type thing or boost.

They need to call the next pedal The Cracker Jack and have it in a Cracker Jack Box, but what kind of pedal should be associated with a Cracker Jack?
A stuttering square wave tremelo with an octave up blend in, or a gnarly ringmodulation in a blend knob...🎉
OK, I do not need another OD pedal….but damn, I’m a sucker for these kinds of things!
It's the little things.
I thought it was tiny. Then you put it on the Metal Zone. 🤯
Love it
It’s true! I start the videos of the 2 Princeton’s chip tune and stay for the entertainment
